The pediment does have one little round knob missing(see picture) It broke off years and years ago. Still looks beautiful and I don't think it's really noticable. The seat. Back and arms are covered with a gorgeous detailed woven carpet(all original) like material which is directly nailed to the frame. All original nails and is still sturdy(see pictures) I wouldn't make this an everyday chair to sit in. I have had it for years and it has always been used as an accent in my livingroom. Each arm rest does have a turn knob on the side(see picture) to make them go up or down. It's quite unique! The chair is still all in tack and sturdy with no breaks(besides small round decorative knob on top of scroll pediment) The wood does show age with scrapes and marks here and there which is expected for almost 150 years old. You can restore this item or leave as is, if you like that original antique look. The material on the chair is a red/burgundy with black, brown and a mustard color. The material is not in perfect condition but it's still all together.beautiful(see pictures) This chair folds up and reopens with no problem. This piece of antique furniture is stunning and I'm having a hard time parting from it. I must start letting some of my items go due to over collecting: LOL! There is still an original paper label under the seat(see picture) reading. E.W. Vail, Patentee and Manufactured, Worcester, Mass. Petented Oct 6, 1868, reissued Dec 2, 1873. There are 5 carved open compartments for organizing and a hidden drawer that opens the full length of the desk with 4 divided sections inside. The center disposal is the original period velvet sack with a hanging cord attached to a lovely ivory pearl stone set within a bronze circular ring with designs. A walnut wood weight is attached. Hand wood carvings include 2 beautiful ladies protruding from sides of desk and removable cupid on the top that is attached to the lid that covers the compartment where the clock sits. The clock has 3 different hand designs and incased in bronze. The face is a natural cream ivory? porcelain with black Roman numerals. The face is aged with some hairlines but the numerals are bold without any color loss. The clock has 2 front legs and a weighted bronze pendulum that you can view from the photo. It does move side to side and I hear ticking but is in need of adjusting. The clock is original and fits perfect to view from a circular opening made for it within the desk. This all original desk is in very good condition without repairs. It is hard to believe there are only two tips missing from the delicate finials. Located on left side underneath the desk and on the right side bottom between the legs. You will need to really search in the pictures because they are very hard to find. It is very rare to find a set. How fortunate to have this elaborate matching chair with velvet padded seat in such wonderful condition. The carvings are amazing and please view the lion and the Fiorentino symbol on the back of the chair. In my 30 years of experience I have never seen a desk set like this. The chair measures 21 inches long by 20 1/2 inches wide and is 38 1/2 inches tall. The wood on this chair is solid walnut and is well preserved and cared for. There are minor portions of surface cracking on what appears to have been some sort of a varnish applied to the front legs. This doesn't affect the wood or quality of the chair. As this chair is in the age range of 150 years old plus. These minor imperfections add to the authenticity of evidence of its true age. Additionally, there are a few tacks missing(about 4) from the seat area which can be viewed in the photos. Shipping: I will package this for shipment and ship via UPS. This item is a beautiful chair. That appears to be, by the research I've done on its design, a late 1800s to early 1900s piece. This could be a rare child's chair based on its size. It could also have had its legs cut, but it doesn't appear to have been. I can find no markings on the chair, but maybe I just don't know where to look. I don't know what the wood is but is in wonderful shape. The top of the seat portion looks like it could use a reapolstering. The legs arms and back are dark colored wood with striking details. This is a beautiful arm chair is in superb condition given that has been in my family for about 140 years. The needlework was done by my great. Great aunt in the 1870's. She gave the chair to my Grandfather as a wedding present in 1900. The chair is American Victorian in the Renaissance sub-style. Having a black walnut frame with carved and reticulated crest, attached pad back, seat, and open arms with carved trim. The legs are reeded with peg feet and casters. NOTE: Due to its size. 39"H, 23"W, 21"D, it is available for local pickup only. There are two minor, pulls in the needlework, as shown in the photos, that are repairable. The woodwork is nearly flawless.

Antique Eastlake Victorian Parlor Wide Arm Chair - Spindles, Ornately Carved
Up for sale is this wonderful antique parlor chair. It is an Eastlake style from the Victorian period. And features light olive-green upholstery with carved spindles under the arms and on either side of the back cushion. The lower back is very nicely carved as well. This chair is in good condition overall. The arms wiggle a little, and although the chair is free of any major damage and free of repair marks, it does show various small nicks. 98% of the grommets are intact and the fabric looks to be original, or at least from around the same period, only showing a few small spots and not much fading. I would consider the fabric above-average for its age, and the wood is around or slightly above-average, considering it is unrestored. It has been conditioned with lemon oil and has a nice, even shine now. Regarding sturdiness, I weigh 160 pounds ... moreand the chair holds me very well. Beautiful Antique Victorian Hand Carved Arm Chair, No Reserve!
This is a beautiful Victorian carved arm chair. In excellent condition. Except for the upholstery, which isn't original anyway. I was going to redo this piece before listing it, but then thought you'd probably want to"decorate" it to your taste. The carvings are all intact, and the finish on the wood itself is also very nice. The only"damage" if it could be called that, is that there are tack holes visible on the legs where the original upholstery was attached. It is evident that the original padded seat went around the legs there, and obviously that's the way you'd want to do it again. Otherwise this chair is very heavy and solid. It measures 47" high, 27" wide, and 30" deep. This item is too big to ship UPS, so I would prefer local pickup only. Low starting bid and no reserve!

Upholstery is faded a bit. But chair is beautiful, and in excellent shape. Carvings are beautiful and padding in excellent condition. The photos show the detail in the carving. One of the roses, as shown in the very detailed photo, has a rose petal missing, which is easy to miss. The structure is quite sound, as I often sat in the chair to read. The cloth of the upholstery could use to be redone in my opinion, although some may think it is fine. Really nice antique Victorian or Eastlake needlepoint armchair from the 1800s. This piece has nice carved. And burl wood accents. The wood looks to be walnut. Upholstery is in excellent shape, as well as the bones of the chair. The chair is still able to be sat in without issue. There are no cracks, breaks, or loose joints that I could find. Due to this piece being older you probably could find some sign of wear, but it will be hard to find. I am helping a friend sell this piece. It has been in his family for many many years.
