It has a dainty carved press back, multi-turn spindles, knuckle arms, multi-turn spindles on the platform base and original castors. This is a great find for those who love original finish antiques. The overall size is 23 inches wide across the arms, 17 inches wide on the seat, 19 inches deep, 40 inches high to the chair back, 26 inches high to the arm and 16 inches high to the seat. This is a rare 1880 Antique hand carved East lake Platform rocker from NY. Not sure if it is walnut or mahogany.Uses leaf springs instead of standard springs.One needs minor work.Needs some upholstery work( new trim and one arm needs material replaced)This chair was made when they used straw type material as padding and leaf springs for springs! I was going to keep it and cover both arms with( similar blue material which is easier to find) go with the original blue material. The floral pattern is mint and looks new. This is a beautiful antique hand carved oak platform rocker that has been totally restored. The wood was finished in a satin clear and it has brand new upholstery with all new padding. The fabric is blue cotton velvet with a rose floral pattern. It is a very comfortable chair, and very tight and solid. Most chairs from this period were small and narrow. Not this one. The seat is extra wide, and I padded up the seat to make it sit at normal height for the average modern person. All of the carving is perfect. There are no breaks, repairs, or damage anywhere.just the normal dings here and there and natural aging as with any antique furniture. I have up for sale a gorgeous vintage circa 1860s to 1880s Antique Victorian Walnut DIMINUTIVE SIZE platform rocker. This rocker is a petite size- basically for a woman or smaller framed person. It is lower from the ground to the seat than most rockers of this type and somewhat more narrow than a conventional platform rocker. One of my later pics shows the rocker next to a large Hunzinger Platform rocker and in another pic next to a pair of Victorian Side Chairs- this will help with get an idea of just how big/small this item is. Its almost like what I would call a youth size. More for a petite woman or a smaller framed man- definitely not for any one who is heavy or tall. So please keep that in mind if you want to purchase the item. This is an early to mid 1800 mahogany parlor chair in its original paint and fabric. Of course it's worn but has no other damage. There are several small holes where some of the tacks are missing. We paid for an appraisal from photos by a professional who specializes in antique furniture. It's appraised at $500- $575 on the"open market. This one may be less since it is worn and needs recovered. The original upholstery can be matched almost identically. The webbing can be found at Hobby Lobby. You are bidding on an old. Original George Hunzinger Oak Platform Rocking Chair, Circa 1880's. The original upholstery was removed and a cane seat was installed. This chair can be upholstered, if desired. There are a few chips and scratches out of the wood, but overall the chair is in very good, functioning condition. The hinge underneath works well. There is also part of the original label underneath. I am offering pick-up only on this great Rocker. Payment by PayPal only within 2 days of Auction's end. There is no reserve. Best of luck bidding.
