The black walnut frames date from the 1860s to 1870s and are very similar. Unless you look closely, you would never know they are not a match as the fabric dominates your eye. One chair has metal castors that are all original and the other chair has wooden castors that appear to be original. The gentleman’s arm chair is in nice condition and I don’t see anything wrong with it. The ladies chair is in good condition with a typical split in the seam in the back that we will tighten up prior to shipping. There are no metal bracing or any poor repairs to the chair.

The wood has magnificent carved details both on the inside of the arms, as well as all other exposed wood areas. Please review all photographs provided, as they show more detail. The top crest rail has a center stylized carved clamshell. The knuckles of the arms are detailed with carved. Layered acanthus leaves. The two front legs have trumpeted baluster formation, with metal casters at the bottom. The front nose rail(bottom front) of the chair is heavily carved with scrolled detail. The rear legs are also on metal casters. The left rear leg has losses to the wood, however, the caster is still attached. Professional repair is strongly suggested if the chair will be used other than solely for decorative or display use. The upholstery is clean and in excellent condition. Chairs were recovered and restored back in the 20's or 30's with the current needlepoint upholstery they have now. The upholstery is in nice shape and free of damage. Minor cleaning may be needed as they have sat in one spot unused for many years. Both chairs still sit nicely. And comfortably, with no noticeable wear to the seating. The backs of the chairs are faded(pictured) But since the pics were taken they have BEEN REFINISHED so they now look, and match with the rest of the chair. When looking really closely at the wood you can see a couple spots where the chairs were professionally repaired in the past. Currently the arms on the chairs are ... moreloose where they meet the back. The legs are all solid and sturdy with no cracks or breaks that I can find. The there are some minor bumps and knicks here and there on the wood, consistent with age, nothing too bad though, and nothing that couldn't be cleaned up/ refinished, if you felt it was needed. The front legs on both chairs have casters to easily move them about. Antique armchairs measure 26" wide. 23" deep, and 41" tall. I am selling these chairs for an older friend of mine. These chairs originally belonged to his mom who lived to be in her 100s. And he is now in his early 80s, so you can rest assured that these are not Post 1950's reproductions. Matching set of 2 Eastlake Victorian Carved Chairs, Nice fabric, One arm chair
LOCAL PICKUP ONLY- We are located one hour north of Indianapolis and 2 1/2 hours south of Chicago. Gorgeous. Hard to find matching set of parlor chairs in the Eastlake style, exemplified by geometric understated carvings. This style was popular in the late 1800s. Chairs and fabric are in excellent condition. Arms on armchair are sturdy. Very usable.

These chairs are absolutely gorgeous. All are solid and sturdy. Made of solid walnut each chair also has some burl walnut down each side of the back and on the seat rail. Turned legs support the front of the chair. I believe they have no apologies other than normal use ware(some dings and scratches here and there) which is to be expected. The fabric while probably not original has been on them for quite a while, I think that it is very usable. There are some spots which look like paint drops.
