The Bronze hooks are long to hold much on each hook and they screw into the bronze holder as shown for support on holding your items. The upper rectangular bronze is stunning with angels& dragon griffins all having the same colour at background on each as the colour shown in the center- which is a very rich burgundy velvet- in addition to all of this bronze there are many square openwork bronze motifs surrounding the entire burgundy velvet at center- please see photos. I bought this in France and keep it for myself seeing the appearance is so striking and so gorgeous- I am now re-doing my room and decided to sell this beauty. The center ribbed wood as shown has markings( as shown in photos) from age however this is only natural and being an antique this is so minor. in addition the center bottom pole is warped as shown also however again this is minor as this is a high quality hand crafted treasure and its not only rare but truly a gorgeous piece of furniture to add to any room in your home. The center velvet still remains stunning as shown in addition to all the bronze motifs. It also comes with more long bronze antique hooks as you see I have only one showing in my photos. I have an additional 3 more to fit inside all the holders at upper. A few of these hooks are stripped due to age however when I used it I added a little cotton around the tip of the hooks to make it tighter and then they held for me. Each chair has high raised backs which have elaborate carved top rail and central panel, this is flanked by 2 lath rail rails and spiral turned end columns with finial top, the seats are upholstered in green fabric and have more carving to the seat frame at the edge, the chairs stand on turned front legs with bobbin stretcher. They have spiral back legs& matching stretchers which unite all the legs. Condition The Chairs are 100% sound. Estate Find: What a rare and fabulous find! This RJ Horner Griffin Finial Hall Throne Chair dating circa 1890s. I am not a furniture expert. However, based on my research I'm convinced this is an original Horner chair. This chair meets every criteria listed here: rarevictorian.com/2008/06/attributing-rj-horner-hall-chairs.html. This chair is truley majestic and could be the centerpiece of any period decor. It sits very comfortable and your mind can't help but wonder at who may have set in the chair in it's history. These chairs were fairly expensive for their time so it was almost assuredly from a home of wealth. The estate this chair was purchased from contained many high end pieces of antique furniture and artwork. This chair is the quartersawn oak variation. There is no label attached to this chair as with some Horner work. ... moreThis isn't uncommon for pieces of his work. There is the light area on the bottom of the chair that has the number"2235" printed in it. This chair is in impressive condition. Especially when you consider it's age. There is a wonderful patina on both arms, across the fron of the seat, and a small amount near the bottom of the back where the stain has been worn off over the years from use. There are a couple minor issues. On the top right of the backrest is a piece of missing ornamentation roughly 1" long. Another tiny piece also missing from the trim on the right leg. There is a small amount of wear along the top edge on the backside of the backrest. A few other minor scratches can be noticed, primarily around the feet area. Other than those, I have not noticed anything wrong with this chair. This chair would be beautiful in any collection. Restoration costs would be minimal if the new owner chose to do so. Amazing. Large and heavy hand carved walnut Italian or perhaps French throne/hall chair, measuring31" wide, 30" deep, and 47" high. It is big and imposing and carved to the hilt! It resembles the circa 1900 Italian"Blackamoor" chairs. But there are no Blackamoor figures carved down the front of the arms. The rest of the chair, however, is carved in the same manner. The chair needs to be reupholstered, but the wood is in great condition. There are a few toes missing ends-as pictured- and some scrapes and scuffs, but overall this chair retains most of its original magnificence! I was told it was purchased from a Catholic institution on the east coast sometime in the mid 20th century, but do not know for sure. Carved Oak North Wind hall chair Victorian Gothic gargoyle 1800's northwind
You are buying a carved oak Victorian Gothic North Wind hall chair. It was made in the late 1800's. Probably in the Northeast US. This IMPOSING chair is full size: 43 inches tall. The seat is 15 3/8 inches wide and 18 1/4 inches from the floor. The back of the chair was made to slope slightly backward- for"comfort" No doubt! When pushed against a wall so that the top of the chair is against the wall, the front of the chair extends 19 inches from the wall into the room. The chair weighs 22 pounds. This chair is in great condition with very little wear and NO DAMAGE to the carving! The bottom has two seams where the wood boards for the seat were joined. These are not cracks or splits. If you turn the chair around and look closely at the back. You can see that most of the wood screws holding this chair together are covered by wood ... morebuttons. Two of the eight buttons are missing, but this is only visible from the back if you look for it. Satisfaction guaranteed. 14 day return period after it is delivered to you.
