One chair has metal castors that are all original and the other chair has wooden castors that appear to be original. Elaborately Carved Crest Item# 120011OPP10B This is a wonderful pair of antique french fauteuil arm chairs of noteworthy proportions. They are both truly statement pieces. The crests a complex and precise work of art of floral influence, flowing into a plain molded frame around a raised upholstered backing. The two outward scrolling arms have thick stuffed upholstery along the top, these flanking a very deeply sprung upholstered seat. The springs and webbing are firm, the upholstery in overall very good shape(chair two with two areas of note worthy wear, the loose threads showing through in those two areas- no stains) these are incredibly comfortable chairs. They rest over two cabriole front legs ... moreof acanthus carved form. The underside of the seat is unfinished, revealing the pegged tenon-mortise construction and an illegible label beneath the midmost point of the apron. This is an outstanding pair of chairs for any decorator looking to bring life to a formal sitting room- they should be part of a home where care will be shown. As the arms are weak where they join the back. These are fully functional and visually wonderful pair of substance, a pair that will certainly be enjoyed for a lifetime. Measurements: 28 1/2" wide x approximately 29" deep x 39 3/4" high to crest; 20" high to seat Condition Report: Visually Outstanding Condition Chair 1: 1. Just removed from New York City Estate. We offer this great pair of antique 19th century extra large Arm Chairs. Great curves all around, pierced carved window panels inserted on all sides, spindle finials, the works! Entire piece is covered with thick inlaid pieces of Mother of Pearl. Made in Morocco, brought to US after WW1. The condition of the chairs is good, no breaks, structuraly sound, it shows on the underside that they were reinforced for stability in last 20(or so) years. Otherwise minor ware, the mother of pearl inlay is missing in some spots, mostly on the back rest of one of them(see the photo where they are both shown) Quality is very very good, will work in any setting! The craftsmanship and care throughout quite noteworthy. The frames are intricately embellished with deep three dimensional representations of waterleaves within a squared border. The crest is flanked on either side by pyramidical finials draped in the carved acanthus. This same motif employed in in the hand holds, along the arm supports and wrapped around the top of both front legs. The carved workmanship is pristine and well preserved, the recesses retaining early oxidized finish remnants under wax. 1890’s French Renaissance Arm Chairs (two) - Upholstered Carved Oak
French Renaissance Arm Chairs. Believed to be made between 1880- 1900's. These carved oak chairs are in good shape, especially the wood. The fabric is slightly faded and they could possibly be reupholstered. On one chair the armrest pads are rather flat. The seat of the other chair has three slight dark spots(see photos) We have not tried to clean these chairs and leave that for the new owner. The rest of the fabric is in good condition. PAIR OF Antique CARVED WALNUT Victorian PARLOR Arm CHAIRS Needlepoint 19th Cent
For sale are a pair of original antique late 1800's Victorian armchairs. These pieces look to be carved walnut. But they also could be mahogany as I am not an expert on my wood types. Chairs were recovered and restored back in the 20's or 30's with the current needlepoint upholstery they have now. The upholstery is in nice shape and free of damage. Minor cleaning may be needed as they have sat in one spot unused for many years. Both chairs still sit nicely. And comfortably, with no noticeable wear to the seating. The backs of the chairs are faded(pictured) But since the pics were taken they have BEEN REFINISHED so they now look, and match with the rest of the chair. When looking really closely at the wood you can see a couple spots where the chairs were professionally repaired in the past. Currently the arms on the chairs are ... moreloose where they meet the back. The legs are all solid and sturdy with no cracks or breaks that I can find. The there are some minor bumps and knicks here and there on the wood, consistent with age, nothing too bad though, and nothing that couldn't be cleaned up/ refinished, if you felt it was needed. The front legs on both chairs have casters to easily move them about. Antique armchairs measure 26" wide. 23" deep, and 41" tall. I am selling these chairs for an older friend of mine. These chairs originally belonged to his mom who lived to be in her 100s. And he is now in his early 80s, so you can rest assured that these are not Post 1950's reproductions. A pair of 19th century Chippendale style carved chairs(one arm chair and one side chair) we do not believe they are period 18th century Chippendale. But rather a touch later, or even Centennial. The arm chair measures approximately 45" tall, 24-3/8" wide, and 23" deep. The side chair measures approximately 44.75" tall, 22-3/8" wide, and 20" deep. The condition is good overall and there is normal wear and tear commensurate with age and use. The seats were recovered a couple years ago and we have the original needlepoint seat upholstery for one of the chairs(the other was too deteriorated to save) The burlap has been replaced on both seat covers- both chairs are structurally sound, sturdy, and ready to use. Arm chair measures 39 1/2" tall, 26" wide arm to arm, 24" deep and 19" from the floor to seat. Side chair is 39 1/2" tall, 24" wide and 22" deep and they have nice wide seats. Antique 1800's Hand carved arm & Claw Footed Club chairs
1800's era Club chairs with pineapple material. Arms are a little loose. They can be wiggled, material is clawed by cat on some of the sides. I would have them recovered, but with a table between it can hide the clawing. They were bought at Butterfields and Butterfields auction house in SF. 20 years ago and were listed as part of a 17th century Monastery Library Suite that sold for $8,000. The cabinet and tables have angels on them and these chairs have a maiden and what looks to be a man holding an andiron on the other front arm. PAIR OF CARVED FRENCH LOUIS XVI STYLE ANTIQUE FAUTEUILS Mid-to-Late 19th Century Item# 502MWY22 This finely carved pair of French Louis XVI Style antique arm chairs were attractively upholstered in a print fabric in the last few years. Probably crafted during the third quarter of the 19th Century. The chair frames are intricately molded with repeating waterleaf motifs, the handholds deeply carved with draped acanthus foliage over the twisting fluted arm supports with raised beads over inset stop fluting. The apron is a repeating infinity motif with raised rosettes set in squared panels over both turned and tapered legs. The crest is a complex display of sprawling leafage around the pierced twisted ribbon at the apex. For anyone passionate about fine French furnishings. This is a very attractive pair preserved in excellent condition.
