It doesn’t appear to have ever been used. It was sitting in the attic. The finish is dark and aged to a lovely patina. I believe the seat is original. It has a dainty carved press back, multi-turn spindles, knuckle arms, multi-turn spindles on the platform base and original castors. This is a great find for those who love original finish antiques. The overall size is 23 inches wide across the arms, 17 inches wide on the seat, 19 inches deep, 40 inches high to the chair back, 26 inches high to the arm and 16 inches high to the seat. The platform has two coil springs that allows the rocking chair top to ride on the platform base.

This chair dates from the 1880s to 1890s. We deal a lot in Hunzinger type rockers and furniture, but this one is unusual in size and features a unique needlepoint work. The fabric is usable, but it needs to be cleaned as it is dirty. Look at the size of the spindles on the solid oak chair. It is an oversized chair. It is heavy duty. It has the patented recognizable Hunzinger spring mechanism. They often have the paper label underneath, but I am sure this one is gone. This chair is all tight, sturdy and is in tiger sawn oak. It would be unbelievable all restored in leather.

This Rocker Was Made By Conant& Bush of Gardner, Mass* It Was Never Painted This Rocker Was Purchased For A Woman Named Jessie Who Was Born In 1888 Her Baby Picture Will Accompany Her Rocker On the back of her baby picture is written"Jessie Born 1888 in Hampton. N.H. This exceptional rocking chair is made of rattan. Reed, and cane. It is in very good antique condition. The chair used to have a caned seat and back. When the center cane pieces broke. Possibly because Jessie stood on it, a wooden seat was placed over the top of the original caned seat. That seat has holes some of which form at star. The cane remnants are under the wooden seat as shown in the 10th picture. It does have some other condition issues. None of these issues affects the chair's stability. There are several pieces of wound reed missing. Examples are shown in photos 6-8. One area has been bound with copper wire soldered into place. There are a couple of other areas along the chair's arms where the reed binding is broken or is missing. This is simply a stunning and authentic child's reed. Caned rocker that is 133 years old! As of the time I listed this rocking chair. Another Ebay seller was selling a envelope and stamp postmarked 1885 by the chair's makers Conant& Bush. This rocking chair is approx. 23" high. Across the arms the chair is 17 1/2" The back is 15 1/2" high and 15 7/8" wide.

I do not know the exact age of this beautiful piece but it dates to about 1890. This is a unique find as most often the adult or child size versions are found. The youth size is slightly larger than the child size allowing for an older child to use the rocker. This rocker came out of an estate in Cape May almost 20 years ago when I purchased it. I have not attempted to change the coverings it was found with. It could use a good polishing. But I will leave that to the new owner. The rocker is in the Huntzinger style with its beautiful turned arms and stiles. There is no major damage or repairs. For its age. It is in very ... moregood condition overall. Located on the bottom of the chair is a paper label still visible denoting its authenticity and origin. In terms of condition this piece has been kept in a very good state for something of its age and was obviously only used as a decorative piece. There is minor scuffing on at the foot of the chair as see in the photo but overall there is little to no damage on the sections of wicker. I can see two small old breaks. This is a beautiful antique hand carved oak platform rocker that has been totally restored. The wood was finished in a satin clear and it has brand new upholstery with all new padding. The fabric is blue cotton velvet with a rose floral pattern. It is a very comfortable chair, and very tight and solid. Most chairs from this period were small and narrow. Not this one. The seat is extra wide, and I padded up the seat to make it sit at normal height for the average modern person. All of the carving is perfect. It has high-back styling with upholstered crest rail over four spindle trim. c1890 Antique Walnut RARE Child Size Victorian Platform Rocker Huntzinger Style Presenting an extremely RARE child size walnut platform rocker. I do not know the exact age of this beautiful piece but it dates to about 1890. This rocker came out of an estate in Cape May almost 20 years ago when I purchased it. I have not attempted to change the coverings it was found with. It could use a good polishing. But I will leave that to the new owner. The rocker is in the Huntzinger style with its beautiful turned arms and stiles. There is no major damage or repairs. For its age. It is in very good condition overall. Measurements: 37 inches tall from the top spindle to the bottom platform, 15 ½ inch opening for the seat between the arms, and 22 inches wide from the back of the platform to the front. I have up for sale a gorgeous vintage circa 1860s to 1880s Antique Victorian Walnut DIMINUTIVE SIZE platform rocker. This rocker is a petite size- basically for a woman or smaller framed person. It is lower from the ground to the seat than most rockers of this type and somewhat more narrow than a conventional platform rocker. Hunzinger was a furniture designer from Germany. Who imported to the USA back around the Victorian boom and came out with a really nice line of furniture. He patented this hinge mechanism that is underneath this rocker to make his rockers most unique. At the time he had the only spring mechanism like this, which is easily identified. There is usually a paper label underneath the bottom platform, but they get lost over the years. This particular rocker dates from the 1880s. This one came in and the finish was worn and the seat was all ripped up. All we had to do was strip it, glue it, sand it, stain it, spray it, upholster it and sell it. Those are the steps we do here to provide you this beautiful furniture. This gorgeous chair was most likely maple or birch, but we stained it this stunning dark reddish brown mahogany color, which is what the factory would have done back in the day. The overall size across the first two balls on the arm is 23 inches wide, 20 inches deep on the seat, approximately 33 inches high to the top, 21 inches high to the front ball on the arm and the seat is 15 inches high. Needle point material was used to restored the cloth. its a very nice light cream pattern flower fabric.there is a small area on the seat that looks like the cloth faded but seen only with a deep eye. the needle work is very close to the original era.Its ready for anyone home.taken out of my father home to yours. no animals.Kids.the color of the platform rocker part is a little light in shade than the top of the rocker. just different tones of the wood they used and it has wooden wheels. It is a lovely piece of the past and would go into anyone home.

Beautiful Hunzinger platform rocker. It looks like a mixture of woods mainly cherry. Mahogany, or walnut. Upholstered by Mario"s in Milw Wi. about 25 years ago. Mario"s did work for the Milwaukee Museum. He left in the horse hair stuffing and used the best Mohair from Germany. The color of the upholstery is a reddish orange but not gaudy. The chair has rarely been used since we had it reupholstered and was just used for display in our home. It was refinished with three step general finishes before being reupholstered. Very good condition considering its age. We are about 1 1/2 hours northeast of Minneapolis Mn. We will deliver within 150 miles of Hayward Wi. Other than that it will be pickup only. It still has the original label on the bottom. Although difficult to read. I believe the date is 1882
