ELEGANT EARLY VICTORIAN LEATHER UPHOLSTERED ROSEWOOD LIBRARY ARMCHAIR. C. 1860 This elegant early Victorian library armchair is English and dates to approximately 1860. The rectangular back has a pierced and carved crest with shells and scrollwork. As well as scrolling carved decoration on each side. The padded arms end with carved scrolled handrests and have scrolled supports. The front legs of the chair are fluted and with carved acanthus leaves, ending in brass caps and casters. The back legs are splayed and end with brass casters. Both sides of the back, the armrests and the seat are beautifully upholstered in brown leather with brass studs. The chair measures 27-1/2"w x 24"d x 39-1/2"h, with the seat measuring 19"w x 21"d x 15-1/2"h. The chair is extremely comfortable and would make quite a statement in ... morea library or living room. Condition: The chair is very sturdy. The frame has very minor wear. Rubbing and minute scratches commensurate with its age. The crest has been reattached along its original seam. Offered for auction is this very nice early circa 1840's JH Belter laminated Rosalie without grapes rosewood sofa in the Louis XV revival style. Very solid construction but the show cover has a few holes/marks. Dings. Chips, cracks consistent with age. Orginal finish in good condition. One piece of the scroll on the top rail is missing but not all that visible(see picture 12) Original Brass castors. 38" to top of crest, 54" inside arms, 70" overall width. A great sofa that can be used as is without reupholstering but probably you will want to put your own show cover on it. This upholstered antique parlor chair is in very good condition. Victorian era style. The fabric is still intact as well as the screws that attach the fabric. Except it's missing a few tacks on the front right side of chair in picture. This chair is kept in a sitting room and does not get sat on very much. The cushion is in good condition for its age. CA.I purchased it from the family 30+ years ago, and now offered from my own collection. This is a wonderful pierce carved Victorian rosewood chair. Circa 1850. And a very good quality maker. It has the original ebonized finish, and the oral provenance on the needlepoint upholstery is that it was done in 1904. It retains the original horse hair and/or straw stuffing. The carved rose floral design is reminiscent of Belter's"Rosalie Without Grapes" pattern.but slightly diffferent ... moreat the crest, and there is PIERCE work between the roses to each edge of the center crest and the last roses on each side of the crest.it is the stem of a rose vine.it is difficult to see the pierce work in the photos due to the DARK finish on the chair. This chair is VERY HEAVY.it has a great period design.a real mid-Victorian treasure. MEASURES:it is 38" tall at the top of the back crest and 19" across at the widest point at the front of the seat. CONDITION:the chair is complete and in very good condition. Original finish.the front left leg is slightly loose.it was glued years ago and again by me at one time. But it needs another gluing after my move from CA. There are 2 very minor wood sliver areas at this same leg that were re-glued years ago. Offered for auction is this super nice and quirky Rosewood laminated side chair with demi arms. The wood on the back frame of the chair is laminated and there are 6 laminations at the thickest part of the carving. Thickness ranges from 3mm to 5mm. A combination of Renaissance Revial. Aesthetic Movement and Rococo styles and what appears to be Anthemions and leaves as the major decoration on the side stiles. Trumpet turned Ren. Rev. style legs with nice white porcelain casters. Chair is 38 1/4" t x 20" seat depth x 21" seat width x 19" floor to seat crest. Very modest incised and gilded lines and decoration on front seat rail with the sides and back seat rail covered in rosewood veneer. A few chinks, scratches, gouges consistent with age and use. Some stress cracking to the veneer as it passes over the rear legs. Chair ... moreis suprisingly comfortable what with the large seat and the demi arms are right at elbow height as you sit. Recently reupholstered with new burlap webbing. Cotton and hogs hair stuffing and all covered with a nice bright red and gold/tan printed cotton fabric. Antique Victorian Rosewood Belter Laminated Rosalie w/o grapes 4 piece suite
Offered for auction is this very nice circa 1840's JH Belter laminated Rosalie without grapes rosewood sofa and 3 chair suite in the Louis XV revival substyle. Very solid construction with the show cover on the sofa having a few holes/marks and dings. Chips, cracks consistent with age. Original finish in good condition. One piece of the scroll on the top rail of the sofa is missing but not all that visible. Original Brass castors. 38" to top of crest, 54" inside arms, 70" overall width. A great sofa that can be used as is without reupholstering but probably you will want to put your own show cover on it. Also, the webbing is in good condition and supports well as you sit on the sofa. The large gentleman's chair(43" t) and side chair are covered in a very high quality red and cream damask somewhat recently. The ... morevery desireable and more rare smaller ladies' arm chair(39 1/2" t) is covered in a red and dark blue cut velvet. All chairs are in excellent condition with the usual scrapes, scratches, marks commensurate with their ages. Cabriole legs that terminate in their original castors and has wonderful decoration of hand carved flowering motifs. The chair has been reupholstered in an elegant cream damask from the Beacon Hill range of exclusive fabrics. It is a very handsome piece which would look perfect in any room. Offered for auction are these beautiful solid rosewood/gilded upholstered side chairs by Pottier& Stymus. Each chair has bronze metal paterae on the four corners of the backs. Sides of chair stiles are fluted and gilded. Gilded drop berry and husk carvings on shoulders of chair backs. Gilded and carved front seat rails with trumpet turned and fluted front legs as well as other elements over entire chairs. Raised on rosewood casters on front legs. Most likely part of a larger suite of furniture that would have included arm chairs and a sofa. Pictures 10-12 show 2 sofas and a chair that are a match to the two chairs offered for sale here. Fabulous Highly Carved Rosewood Victorian Parlor Arm Chair circa 1870's Being offered for sale is this Fabulous Highly Carved Rosewood Victorian Parlor Arm Chair circa 1870's. This beautiful 19th century armchair chair features a elegant highly carved crest. Fancy carved arm supports, a carved seat rail with the casters intact on all four feet. The vintage rose-pink damask fabric is lovely but does show some small soils on the seat and a frayed area by the leg which I have shown in a close-up of this area. This is a larger size parlor chair and is solid and tight with no issues noted and would be a wonderful addition to a Victorian décor. Pair Meeks Carved Rosewood Victorian Parlor Chairs Gold Seats Curved Backs
Offered here for auction is a Pair of Meeks Carved Rosewood Victorian Parlor Chairs. I left these fabulous pair of chairs just as I found them in their original condition. These chairs are in Very Good condition for their age with some minor flaws which is to be expected. I will describe these flaws to the best of my ability. Please use all my photos as part of my description. One of these chairs has a tiny piece of wood missing on the front at the very top shown in photos with a pencil. This same chair has a small brush mark on the curve of wood in front(also in photos) And some minor brush marks on the top back of chair. This chair has a tiny piece of wood on the underneath of it which has become loose, but still in tact. The second chair has a small crack on the back side at the top(see last photo) The back bottom of the leg of this chair ... morehas approximately a 3" span where black electrical tape has been wrapped around it(see photo) This piece of tape appears to have been wrapped around it for a very long time, therefore I left it as found. Both chairs are very sturdy for their petite size, including the chair with the tape on it. I have probably over described the flaws these chairs have, which would be easy fixes for a professional woodworker. Both of these chairs have their original damask silk gold fabric on them which is also in excellent condition. These chairs measure 34" tall and 16" in diameter around their cushion.
