Set of 3 ~ John Jelliff Walnut & Burl Parlor Chairs~ Ansonia Heads~ circa 1875
Being offered for sale is this fabulous set of 3 Victorian Walnut& Burl Walnut Parlor Chairs with Carved Ansonia Heads attributed to John Jelliff circa 1875. Set set of chairs has a commanding presence and feature beautiful detailed carvings one expects from fine Victorian pieces of the 19th century. The 2 side chairs each measures 42 inches in total height from the floor to the very top of the back.With a total width of 21 3/4 inches, a seat width of 18 1/2 inches, seat depth of 18 inches and seat height to the floor measures 17 inches and each side chair weighs approximately 25 lbs. The arm chair measures 44 1/2 inches in height from the floor to the top of the carved back. Arm to arm width measures 28 1/2 inches, seat width measures 20 inches, seat depth measures 22 inches and seat height to the floor measures 16 inches and this chair ... moreweighs approximately 35 lbs. These chairs are covered in a vintage peach-apricot velvet fabric with matching gimp trim. The fabric has no rips or tears but does show some light fading and some tiny speckles are on the seat of the armchair. While these chairs do have a commanding presence when scrutinized closely you can see that each chair does have some old repairs. Ie: each side chair does have a old repaired front left leg, one of the side chairs has an old repair to the hip rests and the arm chair has old repairs where the arms join to the back. I have tried to show some of these areas in the pictures. These three chairs are priced with the apologies in mind as just one of these chairs would normally be more than the price I am asking for all three. IF old repairs bother you please do not buy these chairs as they do have repairs that have been done to each one over the years.but they are still beautiful chairs from the 19th century attributed to one of the finest makers of that era.John Jelliff and his pieces are highly sought after. Selling my Jelliff rocking chair. I bought this at an antique shop right here in Redondo Beach a few years ago for $450. outstanding set antique jelliff walnut chairs, great form and beauty wow fabric
for auction is a great set of john jelliff parlor chairs. they are walnut and in excellent condition. the fabric on them cost 85.00 per yard. the cost to get them recovered was in excess of 1000.00. they were not tufted in order to keep the gorgeous pattern of the fabric in tact. the chairs are solid and as near perfect as you will find. they have great form and beauty. Excellent carving, great finials, detailed cut outs on the trumpets of the legs. neat form to the legs as you will note in the pictures. just a heck of a set of chairs. one chair does not have the original casters and also one chair does not have the carving below the seat. i have checked as as far as i can tell it never did have it. if the chairs sell i will break even on the cost before having them recovered. that will loose me at least 1000.00. i have so many chairs i just ... moreneed to sell some. they may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck. btw the big chair is 43 inches tall, 22 wide, seat 20 inches deep and is 16 inches from floor to the top of the seat. the smaller chairs are 18 inches wide, 39 tall, seat is 17 inches deep and the top of the seat is 19 inches from the floor.

A BEAUTIFUL SET OF ANTIQUE 1800's PARLOR CHAIRS- PAIR OF HIS HERS Renaissance Revival style in wonderful condition. We have been told by a local antique dealer that these are"JOHN JELLIFF" carved chairs and there is no way to verify as he never marked any of his furniture according to research. If anyone has further information to offer please contact us. Beautiful quality red fabric looks like chenille or velvet. The fabric looks to be original with the quality upholstery job. The seats are in a round'ish shape. And very firm. 1 little round decorative piece of wood on front arm of His chair is missing. On one back of one chair the material has a small spot. Material in great condition. Looks like chenille or velvet. A crack in the wood at the top left of the His chair is apparent but fixable, a few scratches, dents, marks ... moreexpected overall needs a good cleaning but in really nice condition considering the age of the chair. 3 wonderful antique walnut matching parlor chairs by john jelliff museum quality
for sale three near mint condition museum quality walnut parlor chairs by john jelliff. the fabric is high dollar. I forget what it cost per yard but it was very expensive. the pattern has an urn in the center, therefore the chairs were not tufted as it would have ruined the design in the fabric. the gimp was hand made by rolling the fabric, very time consuming and added to the cost of re covering. the cost for that on the chairs was close to 1000.00. the larger chair is 43 inches tall, 23 inches wide, 20 inches deep, and 16 inches from the floor to the top of the seat. the two smaller chairs are 39.5 inches tall, 19 inches wide, 18 inches deep, and 19 inches from the floor to the top of the seat. they are just great jelliff chairs made circa 1870. they have a wonderful thick and deep carved crest and outstanding finials on either side of ... morethe top. they are very sturdy and have no damages i am aware of. 2 or the 3 chairs have the original brass casters, i note one has wooden casters which are fine, but i can probably come up with a couple of brass casters if that is a big concern to anyone. they are just great chairs. i have over 150 chairs in my house and really do need to dispose of some of them. here is a chance to get some great john jelliff chairs at their best. they may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyers request. good luck. ps. the fabric is wonderful and the quality or workmanship on the recovering can not be surpassed, however it cost me way more than i was anticipating. i have therefore started the chairs at several hundred dollars less than i have in them. `4`.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Feog4d71f%2B%3E%604%60-14a7316b9e6-0x118-

Antique Vict Aest/Ren Rev Laminated Rosew/parcel gilt pierced chair, Jelliff?
Offered for auction is this super nice and quirky Rosewood laminated side chair with demi arms. The wood on the back frame of the chair is laminated and there are 6 or 7 laminations at the thickest part of the carving. Thickness ranges from 3mm to 5mm. Pierce carved on the side stiles and also on the demi arm supports. A combination of Renaissance Revial. Aesthetic Movement and Rococo styles and what appears to be Anthemions and leaves as the major decoration on the side stiles. Trumpet turned Ren. Rev. style legs with nice white porcelain casters. Chair is 38 1/4" t x 20" seat depth x 21" seat width x 19" floor to seat crest. Very modest incised and gilded lines and decoration on front seat rail with the sides and back seat rail covered in rosewood veneer. A few chinks, scratches, gouges consistent with age and use. Some ... morestress cracking to the veneer as it passes over the rear legs. Chair is suprisingly comfortable what with the large seat and the demi arms are right at elbow height as you sit. Recently reupholstered with new burlap webbing. Cotton and hogs hair stuffing and all covered with a nice bright red and gold/tan printed cotton fabric. Sort of mimicks the leaves and curlicues in the chair frame. A while back there was an arm chair listed on Ebay with the same decoration and carving. So, seems there might have been a complete en suite set of this style with side chairs, arm chairs and even a settee. While I don't see many similarities with Jelliff pieces and there are no carved"heads" on the chair(which by the way, doesn't always mean it is a Jelliff piece) some say this treatment of the demi arms is a style John Jelliff used. So maybe this is Jelliff. I prefer local pickup but I can put you in touch with a few shippers for you to contact for shipping.
