In terms of condition this piece has been kept in a very good state for something of its age and was obviously only used as a decorative piece. There is minor scuffing on at the foot of the chair as see in the photo but overall there is little to no damage on the sections of wicker. I can see two small old breaks. The artistry and expertise only found at the level Ordway brought to the furniture profession is conveyed beautifully in this example of early 1900s American wicker working. Along with the paper tag on the bottom cross section of the chair there is also documentation regarding its sale on July 18th. 1983 by the Margot Johnson, Inc of"Fine 19th Century American Antiques" for a total of $1.850.00. The rocker stands 42" Tall. 28" wide and 30" Deep. This is a rare opportunity to buy an original Orway in this condition for such a low price so I expect this to be the only time it will ever be available in this condition. The circa date is 1890. The original red label says(as best I can read it) Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Co. Gardner Mass. The part of the label with the Model No. is missing. I am guessing it is from the 1880s-1890s. The chair is about 28" high and 18" wide at the arms. The condition is very good; the last two pictures show two very small spots of broken wicker. But being about 120 years old and fragile. It is in remarkable condition(a b it dusty) I AM NOT AN EXPERT ON WICKER so please ask any questions. Please buy it As I s since there are a few very tiny imperfections. Either individually or as a pair these chairs are striking. They are deep and comfortable and epitomize the wicker chair on the summer porch that you would have seen in an old Victorian mansion or stately home. The chairs are sizable and comfortable for all sizes of guests. The style is a wing chair- but the wings are not sharply angular- but gracefully provide the chairs with a wide width. It is 31 inches from side to side at the widest point of the wings. In keeping with the large size comfort of these chairs the arms each have a 7 1/2 inch wide shelf to rest your arms. Heywood Wakefield Antique Wicker Rocking Chair Romantic Shabby Cottage Chic
Available is an antique Heywood Wakefield wicker rocking chair. An antiques dealer did research and identified the chair as being from the 1880s. The style shows the influence of the Japanalia or aesthetic movement of that time in history. The chair is in very good condition. And is very sturdy. It is also comfortable to sit in as well. There are some very minor flaws. There is some missing paint, but that is minor. There is a bit of missing wicker to the fan. See pics. It is extremely minor. The seat is very sturdy. The seat is also covered with a wood board. See pics. There is wicker underneath, so it looks like a previous owner simply covered over the wicker seat with a board. I have enjoyed this for many years with no complaints! I hope I look as good as this chair if I live to be as old! Rare Antique Childs Rocking Chair Bent Wood Wicker 1800s Collectable
Let me start out by saying this chair is being sold as a collectible and is not suitable for a child to sit in. I got it from the local historical society and they told me that it was from the 1800s. It is made of Bent wood and it looks to me as though the seat covering fabric is original. It needs some repair and I have taken some close-ups of parts of it which are cracked. It is being sold as is with no returns so please look closely at all the pictures. It is 24 inches high.15 inches wide, and 21 1/2 inches long. The seat measures 12" x 9.5" it will make a great collectible for the antique collector or it would be suitable to display a doll on it. Thanks for looking.

It looks like the original Color was brown and is still intact in most places except for where it was repaired Overall this is in great shape can still support plenty of weight. Not exactly sure when the chair was made but it does look like the brackets which have the patent date on them fit this chair and this is an older style of chair. Overall the chair doesn't weigh that much so if I can find a refrigerator box or something like that shipping will not be a problem.
