It has issues of some wear to the cane seat and the stretchers could be reglued. We're keeping the cost low, as recaning alone is a major expense. It has been used for many years as just a decorative accessory piece on an enclosed porch, holding only a cushion and a cat. Measurements: 34" high. 16" wide, 16" deep. Weighs 6lbs, 2 ounzes, so it appears to be made of maple, rather than the lighter weighted ... morepine. Condition: As mentioned. It's seat is intact, but(see photos) there are 3 areas where the cane has separated on 3 of the hexagons. Some"give" to the seat. Old nailed repair to one leg at rear of shield seat(see photo) and a shallow crack on one leg about 3" long. Description: It is composed of a slightly concave top rail. About 3" wide. The central crest is a rounded arch, flanked by 4 peaks and serpentine curves that receive the cross slats. The lower edge is scroll arched to conform to the 4 spindles, forming the open back. Ends of rail extend beyond those of vase-and-ring turned back uprights, scroll outlined. Between this rail and a conforming, narrower cross slat are 4 spindles: vase-knob-ring-turned. This is a beautiful antique hoop/sewing rocker circa 1860 that was made with low arms to accommodate the ladies with wide hoop skirts and their sewing. It is in really good shape for being 150 years old with the exception of the following 2 items. The caning in the seat has 1 very small hole(see pic) One of the pieces on one of the arms shows signs of a previous attempted repair(see pic) All other wood on the chair is in very good shape. Gorgeous curling on the armrests. Made at the original Vsetín. Austria workshop. Will seat up to about 7 years old. J&J Kohn was founded in 1850 and became a principal rival to the Thonet company. Known for their chairs. Particularly their rocking chairs, Kohn continued production until 1914, when it was merged into Mundus AG. Dimensions: 37"H x 14" diameter round seat. Seat is 22" from floor. Antique, Primitive Childs Rocking Chair, Shaker, Cane, Wood Woven Seat & Back
I don't know much about this chair so I have something wrong. Feel free to let me know. It's a very solid chair with great design and hand done ornamentation. Very simple with lightly carved spindle ends and woven back and seat. Judging by the wear I'm guessing it's over 100 years old. The weave is in good shapeand all joints are very solid. I believe it's made of maple or poplar. Aged very well and sits straight and strong. Wood on most of it appears to be hand carved and worked. You can see some areas had painted or stained accent areas that have faded. Chair is about 2 feet tall and rocker rails are also about 2 ft long. Looks like it would be for a toddler. There is some old wear to the veneer on the back splat as shown in one of the pics and also an old characterized repair that the neighbor never noticed until I pointed it out to her. Beautiful Victorian era side chair. The vase shaped splat has wonderful grain and is crowned with a trefoil carving. The cane seat has a fret-carved serpentine skirt. Lovely antique chair from the mid-1800's with simple. Sturdy lines. Not sure of the wood type, possibly maple or ash. The cane bottom is in good condition with a one inch tear which is difficult to see and photograph. The chair itself is quite sturdy. It is a natural wood finish, no varnish. Vintage/Antique Child's Wood Oak Folding High Chair/Rocker I believe this dates circa 1900's Clever design with screw/winding adjustment that allows the chair to convert from a high chair to a rocking chair in the lowest position Has rattan/wicker seat and back in good condition with no tears. Very smooth. Very high quality item. Belonged to my grandmother. She was a doll maker. Used this to admire her work. Approximate measurements when the chair is fully extended is 35" tall. When folded it is 25" tall, and the seat is 11.5" to the floor. The seat measures 12 x 13. and the tray is 7 x 15. The rocker, when in the lowest position, measures 30" long. There are no markings on this rocker/high chair.

I believe it is oak, however, I do not know if black is it's original color. I would assume it was painted at some point, either way it gives the chair an amazing primitive look. I am also unsure about it's actual age. I would think sometime in the very late 1800's, or early 1900's. It does show signs of typical wear that comes with furniture of it's age and material. There are scuffs, scratches, a few pin holes from where it had been covered at one time with a horse hair pad, and a few cracks(see photos) they do not affect it's use and add to it's character& charm. Antique Immigrant Cane Rocking Chair Ca. 1895, Czech.
I have looked high and low and cannot find another rocker or chair like this. It is in beautiful original condition. I acquired it over the summer at an estate sale in Minneapolis. The gentleman and his wife are in their late 90's. He was born in Pittsburgh. Pennsylvania, his parents from Italy; his wife was born in Minnesota, her parents/grandparents were from the Czech. I have conferred with other professionals in the antique furniture world and we believe it has come down through the elderly wife's Czech parents. The age would then be perhaps as much as 125 years. Circa 1890. The style of the bentwood is likely Polish and was no doubt woven by hand one strand at a time. The condition speaks of a chair well-loved and cherished and shows appropriate wear. The seat has a small hole in it. And there is some minor condition concerns ... moreto the wood as pictured. I have not, nor will I"mend" or try to restore any part of this piece, I think it's beautifully charming as is. The little bit of hardware used appears original and is appropriate to the era. I can provide more photos if requested. I can only imagined how the immigrants lovingly packed the chair for their voyage across the sea to start their new life in America. The babies rocked and textiles stitched. The life built. You can buy other chairs. In the stores and online, but none with a history like this one. Antique Oak Stick& Ball Swivel Cane Seat Office Arm Chair LOS ANGELES PICK-UP ONLY ~ an antique oak Victorian Stick and Ball office arm chair with a height adjustable swiveling. Caned seat original wood casters and a whole lot of charm measures(with seat swiveled all the way down, I mean all the way down! 40-1/2" tall to top of back finial seat is 16-1/2" from floor(at that same level) 21-3/4" wide(at any level) and 18-1/2" deep Condition: with wear to finish of both arms and to the cane of the seat also. The cane to the front left corner of seat needs repairing(see third to the last photo) the seat has been reinforced at one time to each corner from underneath(see second to last photo) the third horizontal rail to the back the one topping the straight spindles has a crack repair to the center and seems quite sturdy ... morenow there has been some glue and finishing nail reinforcements throughout cleaning house now for the BIG move next year! yikes! ~ L O CAL pick-up ONLY in Los Angeles area. This has been refinished some time ago and has been re-caned. Does have tack holes from where it was once upholstered. Finish is worn in areas even though it has been refinished sometime ago. Is in excellent condition after all these years! The era is around the 1880’s. 27 inches tall by 16 inches wide by 21 inches deep at the rockers.
