This is a beautiful set by Eastlake. It has been passed down 4 generations to me. I love it but with 3 growing kids I don't have the space for it anymore. This lot includes 2 Chairs and A Rocking Chair. They are all in excellent condition for their age. The fabric is a little worn in areas from age. But no major damage. The wood is in excellent shape. The set I have for sale is larger in size and very comfortable for an Eastlake parlor suite. This set may have been made by Pabst or Herter Brothers. According to the antique dealer Mandrake's of Seattle who I had re-upholster and clean the sofa and chairs. The upholsterer took special care(as you can see in pictures 2. 3, 7& 8) ensuring that the design matched identically front and back on the couch and chairs. I chose a Mohair Red and Gold design, 7000Rub-which means you can sit on it 7000 times before you notice wear) I paid $985.00 to have it cleaned and upholstered. The wood is beautifully carved and has always been oiled. I have never used polish on this furniture. I bought this from a little out of the way junk store outside of Bellingham in 2004. For sale is a matching parlor set purchased 25 years ago from a Victorian house in Moorestown. NJ. The set consists of a large settee. Large platform rocker, a chair with arms and four chairs without arms. The style is Eastlake or Aesthetic Movement, from the 1880s- 1890s. The ornamentation on the chairs is angular with geometric incised lines and chip carving. There is also burl walnut veneer on all pieces. The condition for the set is usable but they definitely could use a trip to the upholstery shop. The structure of the chairs is good with the exception of the right arm of the platform rocker which wiggles because it is loose. For more detailed information. Description: These very sturdy walnut East Lake upholstered chairs are in excellent condition. The carving on these chairs is very beautiful and well crafted. These chairs are matching parlour chairs. They have been professionally reupholstered in a beautiful tapestry fabric around 1960. At that time the seats and back were also refurbished to give the seats a very comfortable feel when sitting. They come with what appears to be the original metal and wood casters. Usually the casters have been replaced with modern versions but not on these chairs. The fabric has a dark brown background with gold. Deep rose and light rose flowers with olive green leaves. There are little hints of baby blue in buds that are scattered throughout the florals. There is a tear in the upholstery on the back of one of the seat as well as the trim being loose on another. There are also a few smaller stains on one of the seats. This is a wonderful antique Victorian Eastlake 3-piece blue parlor set that includes a loveseat and two chairs. The loveseat is on wheels and the chairs have two wheels each. The loveseat is roughly 5' long x 27" wide x 38" tall. The material has faded and has a few spots. I did not see any rips. The backing needs to be re-tacked to the frame in a few places. The wood is in very nice shape with a chip in the front of one chair and only a few minor imperfections elsewhere. Please see pics. Please know that one top piece of the chair came off and needs to be glued on. One chair is missing a cross bar. Other than this. The chairs look good enough to use as is. Notice that the seat covers are not exactly round. They have a slight curve to them. I have four seats already cut from plywood and they are cut exactly as you need to put upholstery/batting on. The original upholstery had tacks in the front. All the way around, and it added to the over all beauty. I was planning to reupholster but now changed my mind because I am cleaning ... moreout my house. Please see all my other furniture and continue to check back.
