Here is an antique salesmans sample miniature empire mahogany embroidered seated chair.It stands only 22 inches tall and 13 inches wide. Its in excellent condition considering its age. The only damage is the veneer in front of the chair but could easily be repaired. The embroidered seat is all original horsehair fill and webbing is intact. I almost forgot to add I have glued the missing piece of mahogany that fell off the front part of the chair and this is numbered on the chair frame and the seat bottom.This is the# 1 chair out of 8.Its marked just under the seat webbing. It has been in my family for a very long time but now is the time for it to move on as I don't have the space. It is in essence a trapezium shape. I'm not that much of an expert in Victorian furniture(more ... moremy father's field) but I do know that this is a quality piece& with what little information I can glean the paper label puts it to around 1850. The fine unusual cross-banding underneath is exquisite quality I don't know how they did it. So rather than blather on about what I know not I have taken the maximum images allowable(24) trust that these will do the talking for me. It is ebonised all the way along the frame& has smart gilding in the grooved areas to the tapering turned legs. It's a nice angular shape which leads me to believe it is designed for a picture window. Such is the quality of this piece I felt the shape photographed well. If you need any further images or info please let me know. I have a feeling it may be quite a rare item. Condition is excellent. Sturdy with no movement to joints. It has its original wheels but the silk upholstery is not original and newer(1960s? and in fairly good shape, with a couple of minor spots- however you may wish to reupholster this fine piece in a fabric that suits your decor. Approximate measurements: 36" H X 28" W X 23" D this beautiful American Empire American Mahogany chair is a very fine example of its period. Likely circa 1850. It has its original wheels but the silk upholstery is not original and newer(1960s? and in fairly good shape, with a couple of minor spots- however you may wish to reupholster this fine piece in a fabric that suits your decor. The chair is solid and with only minor flaws consistent with age and wear- please note photographs. There are two hairline fractures on either side of the wreath and one on the left hand arm. circa 1880's 1890's empire style mahogany Morris Chair recliner with paw feet
This is a substantial Morris chair. Vey thick. Has large paw feet and the hand rail support is in the form of a column with an Ionic design on the top. Appears to have original 4 position reclining hardware with rod and both caps still intact. Not sure exactly when this chair dates to but I think it is just before turn of last century. The cushions have modern fabric with zip covers over some type of firm foam pads which can easily be removed and re-upholstered. Though it does have some defects from aging they don't really detract from the visual appeal of the chair and structurally it is very sound and sturdy. If you want something unique for you home this would fit that bill.Local pick only unless you want to set up your own pick up. For auction is this Neoclassic French Empire revival chair circa 1915- 20. This is what I was told when asked around but as of yet it may be only a guess. Might be older. Might be newer. We are pleased to offer this BEAUTIFUL antique. French, Napoleonic or Empire style, dining or fireside/accent chair(we have 2 available) The chair dates from the mid 1800s and features ELABORATE carving. It is either walnut or oak and retains the very dark, original, stained finish. The back of the chair is arched and deeply carved/incised with an acanthus scroll and rope pattern. Atop the center arch is a clover leaf, gothic cross. On each side of the chair back is a carved lion head finial. These are extremely detailed and feature a roaring(open mouth) lion head. The lion detail continues to the front of the chair. Detailed, carved paw feet accent the front legs. The paw design is on the front and side profiles of the feet with the back profile smooth. The chair has GORGEOUS. Vintage fabric. The fabric is soft, almost like a very short ... morenap chenille. It is a deep crimson red with a unique pattern. The pattern features large, golden bees. It also features laurel wreaths. The wreaths are tonal with the red fabric and are only visible in certain light. It is a very interesting fabric. The chair is in very good condition for its age. It is heavy and sturdy. It still retains the original. Flat screws that were used during construction. The fabric is good with only minor signs of age/use. It is free rips or tears and only shows some very minor soiling in only a couple of small areas. The original finish does have crazing and has a crackled appearance. Matched pair Victorian empire transitional walnut chairs parlor chair suite set
Victorian balloon back chairs from the 18 sixty's or early 1870s era these are walnuts and in extremely good condition they do have old finish. These are upholstered in greenish cut velvet I also have a set that is in a blue velvet material that matches these both are being sold in sets of 2. The last photo shows them with one of the blue chairs for sale so you can see they match perfectly. Both chairs have no breaks and are extremely tight with no visible repairs. They do have some scuffing and wear to the finish as you can see in the photos.
