Antique Hitchcock Stencilled Plank Bottom Sewing Nursing Rocker 1850's NICE! NR
You are bidding on a hitchcock sewing rocker or nursing rocker probably from made in the mid to late 1800's. It was originally mustard color buttermilk paint with lots of stencilling on it. I believe there was a coat of red buttermilk paint possibly applied under the mustard originally. Look closely at photos and you will see all the stencilling, it is just very light. The seat is almost 1 1/2 thick plank has a split that was either there from the time it was made or for many, many, years. Someone has screwed a piece of plywood to the bottom for suport and filled part of the crack with wood putty. I am going to sell it just as I found it but if you purchase it and want us to take the plywood off the bottom, clamp the seat back together and us some old wood to make about three slats across the bottom like lots of these type dining room ... morechairs had with bevel edges on the slats, we will do so for a nominal fee. The rocker is still sturdy, not falling apart, could be used. The seat is 17 inches wide at the widest part, 17 inches deep but you will loose about an inch or so of that because of the back, 34 inches tall and the plank seat is about 1 1/2 inches thick, probably or looks like pine.Email me with any questions or concerns or send phone number and I will gladly call you and answer all your questions. Very nice functioning childs 24 inch high rocking chair. This is a wooden plank bottom chair with good arms and seat back.The whole chair is in very good condition although one of the legs has been repaired with a nail. I'm not sure if the leg split slightly because of the nail or if it was split before the repair. I also believe it was painted at some point later in its life. Still very sturdy after all these years.

Vintage antique plank bottom doll or small child's chair great paint!
This is a really nice vintage small plank bottom chair. Very well made and proportioned. Likely a doll chair. Maybe a child's toy chair? I guess it could even be a salesman sample considering the quality and the turning details. The paint is chipped as you can see and has a reddish color underneath. It stands about 17" tall. No makers marks so I cannot date the chair. But it clearly has age to it. It just has a great look and feel. The seat must be constructed of two pieces, as indicated by the line in the photos. It is not cracked, and the joint is tight. The whole chair is tight. This is a great small vintage chair in a style you almost never see. Could not really find a chair of similar design online. Don’t miss it!
