WALNUT EASTLAKE PARLOR OR SLIPPER CHAIR CIRCA 1880 - GOOD PROJECT CHAIR
This is a sturdy eastlake side chair that was likely part of a parlor set at one time. This is a good project chair for restoration. The chair stands 35" high from the floor to the top of the back rest. The back rest part of the chair is 17" wide and the seat part is 19" wide. The seat sits 17 1/2" off the floor. The front legs are 14" long. The legs attach to a 2" wooden rim and then the upholstered seat bottom. The front legs are lathe turned and the back legs are tapered. The fabric is in good condition although not that attractive. There is a piece of wood chipped off the top of the chair. This is easily repairable. The round piece at the top right of the back is also slightly loose but this also is easily repairable. The finish on the chair is not alligatored and could possibly be cleaned to save the original ... morefinish. I have had success doing this with this type of patina. Both pieces are solid and in good shape for the age. The arms on the couch have some cracks in the front wood. They have been repaired but are slightly loose. Not too bad. The couch measures 62" wide. 40" back height and the seat height is about 15.5" high. The chair measures 20" wide. Seat height about 17.5" and 33" back height. Standard wear on wood as pictured. I am listing a 3 piece Eastlake parlor set in wonderful condition. The chair and rocker has four wheels each and the setee has 2 in the front. I believe the material is red velvet, I do not see any damage to the wood of these pieces but if you look at photo 4& 8 it looks as if the material is faded from sunlight. The material is not torn and I do not see any stains. Antique Eastlake Victorian Parlor Wide Arm Chair - Spindles, Ornately Carved
Up for sale is this wonderful antique parlor chair. It is an Eastlake style from the Victorian period. And features light olive-green upholstery with carved spindles under the arms and on either side of the back cushion. The lower back is very nicely carved as well. This chair is in good condition overall. The arms wiggle a little, and although the chair is free of any major damage and free of repair marks, it does show various small nicks. 98% of the grommets are intact and the fabric looks to be original, or at least from around the same period, only showing a few small spots and not much fading. I would consider the fabric above-average for its age, and the wood is around or slightly above-average, considering it is unrestored. It has been conditioned with lemon oil and has a nice, even shine now. Regarding sturdiness, I weigh 160 pounds ... moreand the chair holds me very well. The arm span is unusually wide, measuring 32 inches from the outside, left to right. Floor to top measures 34 inches; seat height is 17 inches; and the depth measures 23 inches. For local pickup in Northern Virginia! A late 1800's(I believe) Eastlake chair with pretty floral needlepoint seat and back. The chair is sturdy with only some surface wear. But needs reupholstering. One of the braces on the side is fastened by a wooden peg, but needs gluing. One caster is wood and the other is ceramic. The six seat springs are a little rusty, but I believe they are salvageable. Though there are a few spots of damage here and there in the needlepoint pieces, they are also salvageable-if not for reupholstering, at least for repurpose. A good project. Gorgeous antique Victorian side or parlor chair in the Eastlake style. Skillfully carved from walnut with burl accents. This chair has more recent velvet upholstery in a vibrant shade of red. The back of the chair has been decorated with an ornate crest and the turned front legs give the chair a sense of age and stability. This piece most likely dates from the late 19th or early 20th century. No marks or signatures. Overall this chair is in good antique condition. With some wear. There is a crack near the ball at the top of the chair as well as several holes around the upholstered portion of the back, probably from nails. Scrolled arms, and incised accents throughout. The chair is further accented with burlwood inlays, which contrast nicely with the natural walnut woodgrain. As you can see in the pictures, the original casters are missing, so the chair will be slightly taller if you decide to replace them.
