Pair, Antique Mustard Painted Hitchcock Chairs, c. 1840-60
This is a beautiful pair of 19th Century Hitchcock chairs in their original decorated mustard paint. They have a guitar shaped seat with newer rushing(probably 1970-80's) Which is not as thick at the original rushing. The chairs measure approximately 18" wide, 18" deep and 33 1/2" tall. The seat is 18" tall. The back has thumb print tops and the legs are all hand turned. The chairs are in excellent condition and very sturdy. Please email us with any questions before bidding.

Antique Hitchcock Stencilled Plank Bottom Sewing Nursing Rocker 1850's NICE! NR
You are bidding on a hitchcock sewing rocker or nursing rocker probably from made in the mid to late 1800's. It was originally mustard color buttermilk paint with lots of stencilling on it. I believe there was a coat of red buttermilk paint possibly applied under the mustard originally. Look closely at photos and you will see all the stencilling, it is just very light. The seat is almost 1 1/2 thick plank has a split that was either there from the time it was made or for many, many, years. Someone has screwed a piece of plywood to the bottom for suport and filled part of the crack with wood putty. I am going to sell it just as I found it but if you purchase it and want us to take the plywood off the bottom, clamp the seat back together and us some old wood to make about three slats across the bottom like lots of these type dining room ... morechairs had with bevel edges on the slats, we will do so for a nominal fee. The rocker is still sturdy, not falling apart, could be used. Antique "Fancy"/Hitchcock Chairs Set
This set of four antique chairs was purchased on the Eastern Shore of Maryland approximately 10 years ago. That area. Surrounding Ocean City, is a big retirement/second home region for people from the mid-Atlantic through the Northeast, so area of origin for the chairs is difficult to determine. I estimate that the chairs were crafted in the late 1800's, but cannot confirm it. The stencil painted design on the back of the chairs is in very good condition, while designs on other parts of the chairs show some wear, as should be expected on chairs of this age. In downsizing from a large historic home to a smaller residence, we don't expect to have space for all the furniture we enjoy.

This is for a beautiful antique Hitchcock style chair with burled veneer and cane seat that I am offering for my neighbor. There is some old wear to the veneer on the back splat as shown in one of the pics and also an old characterized repair that the neighbor never noticed until I pointed it out to her. But is otherwise just fine and very sturdy. Chair measures 18 inches to the top of the seat and I will have to add other measurements later. Pair 1800 ANTIQUE HITCHCOCK CHAIRS RUSH SEATS Ladder Back Folk Art Hand Painted! This is a great pair of antique circa 1800 rush seat ladder back primitive hand turned hand made painted chairs. Each chair is slightly different than the other with different turnings on each one. Indicating they are not factory made but primitive early era furniture. These wonderful chairs measure approximately 33 inches tall by 17 inches wide by 14 inches deep with a seat bottom height from floor of 16 inches. They each weigh approximately 10 pounds by themselves without any packing materials or 20 pounds total for the both of them. Here's what I stated about these marvelous chair's condition: Pair of early 1800s chairs shows very aged dark patina with one chair having the painted artwork on the seat backs worn away to be barely visible. Other chair's ... moreartwork is more visible in all areas. Finish loss on surfaces especially legs. Nicks. Dings, scratches, scuffs, and worn, rounded edges all evidence of great age and adds much character to the pieces. A shallow wood split noted on top back front splat of one chair. Otherwise, chairs are incredibly strong, solid, sturdy, and stable and able to withstand a substantial amount of weight. Offered here a charming pair of 19th century Sheraton Hitchcock stenciled arm chairs with rush seats. Both chairs have a beautifully stenciled fruit bowl and floral decoration on their middle back slat. As well as other stenciling on the front edge of the seat, on the top bar, and on some of their rails. These chairs are unsigned, nice and sturdy, not wobbly, and they have some scuffs due to normal use. Both rush seats, however, have a small area where the rush has been torn and worn-away. Antique Penn Dutch Original 6 Green Stenciled Hitchcock Chairs circa 1830s
Fresh from the estate of a 97 year old man who's wife collected early American furniture and decrative items. These are not reproductions but period chairs. There are six in the rare green color with stenciling. They al had fabric seat covers what where so old when I went to take them off to photgraph them they disintergrated and the cotton stuffing went flying. I think that is why the seat color and stencile is so strong. They are in"AS FOUND" condition and all I did is take the seat cushions off and take the pictures. They need cleaning and some restoration to the stencilling but they are very strong and tight. Two show more signs of ware and they where the one's at their dinning table the other tow where in the master bedroom. By the way the old craftsman house in the Hollywood Hills had 77 steps to the front door. His ... moredaughter in law handeling the estate sale said he would walk up and down 3-4 times a day up until a coulpe weeks before he passed away. Well I'll tell you I went up 3 times myself that day and I thought I was going to die. When my moves got done I paid them double what they asked since I don't know how many trips they made but they looked beat and they are half my age. This beautiful and delicate antique hitchcock chair has wear concurrent with its age. The rush seat has been repaired and is in great condition. It is stained black with gold stencil. It is very light and would easily fit into the back or trunk of a car. Which is why I am offering local pick up. Antique Side Chair in the style of Hitchcock or Sheraton
A primitive. Hand made, in the style of a Hitchcock and something less of an earlier Sheraton, side chair. Like that of a Hitchcock in that it is light, only about eight pounds, It is a lacquered, dark brown or black finish. The legs are definitely Early American spindle. It is missing the lovely bright golds and painted patterns and florals typical of a Hitchcock. Which, even if it had them this is only"in the style of" Those chairs were so popular in the day that others started imitating them. And that is what is for auction. I can't date it precisely. But I'm certain it is pre 1900 and would guess more around 1850's to 1865 or so. Just going off the condition and general feel from other pieces I've had that I knew the age of. It stands a total of only 30 1/2" Another sign of it's age. Touching the seat, ... moreyou can feel the textures of the hand carved wood work, fascinating. Condition. sitting on carpet. It doesn't have any wobble at all! Solid. You can see where the one piece of wood used for the seat has had some shrinkage over time, resulting in the beginnings of some natural splitting. Kept in a good environment this process should be easily kept in check. Don't display the piece outside or in the sun. And one vital admission. I buy for resale and one of my best"scouts" who buys and then sells to me, is a WW2 veteran. He loves going to auctions and honestly half the things you see seem to have come from him lately. But, he insists on cleaning everything, and I can't get him to stop. Looking at the back of this chair. Where the flowers, or gold, whatever, should be. I'm seeing a shiny spot where I'm certain someone touched this up! Both of the backrests have it. Where proper wear from use should be, the best finish remains? Uh huh, but my friend denies everything. And I am not going to fault or dishonor him, he's who he is and the chair is now what it is. Antique Early Thumbback Hitchcock Side Chair Old Stencil Paint Ct Conn USA 1880s
There is a little discoloration on seat. Black has a greenish tinge or hue, very old paint, crackling or alligator effect. The front cross piece of wood is well worn from years of feet resting on it. I'm guessing this is from the 1880s, the company was starting around 1808 I believe.

Antique circa 1825 Signed Hitchcock Turtle Back Chair Stenciled Black Rush Seat
Antique stenciled Hitchcock side or parlor chair. Uncommon"turtle back" shape has characteristic gold stenciling over a black finish. The main design features a group of fruits with additional geometric accents across the chair. The chair also has a rush seat and turned legs and stretchers. The company signature on the back of the seat dates this chair between 1825 and 1832. This chair is in very good condition considering its age. There is some breakage to the rush seat as well as damage to the painted finish. Mostly at edges and corners. See pictures. No other breaks or repairs. The chair stands 34" tall and measures 18" wide. The seat is 15.5" deep.

Antique Painted Fancy Chair Black Red 1800s Hitchcock Style American Rare
Up for Auction is an amazing antique 1800s handpainted Fancy Chair. It has Black paint with Red Highlights. It looks like the top part has a couple of red strawberries with leaves. There are gold stencil highlights along the legs and two top panels. There are also Heart stencils. This is an exquisite chair and is in excellent structural condition. The chair has a rush seat that looks to have some kind of yellowish overcoat to protect the seat. This was done presumably at time of construction or shortly thereafter. The seat is in amazing condition both structurally and presentation. The chair measures 321/2" tall. From floor to top of seat is 161/2" The wood on the chair has lots of wear marks of scuffs and scratches that is typical for a chair of this age. The stenciling is faded but still visible.
