This is a very good quality set of 2 antique country farmhouse spindle back rush seat dining chairs. Ca. 1800-1899 but can be older. I believe it is solid oak and ash. The beautiful chairs were attributed to Lancashire region in England. Both chairs boast graduated spindle shaped backs above hand woven rush seated seats. Pair of Antique Hand painted French or English Spoon Back Arm Chairs
These are two very nice hand painted spoon back arm chairs. L would say they were made in England although they look French, l purchased them in England. The one with the brown seat and dark fabric to the back is circa 1880. The other one l would say it later maybe 50 or 60 years old and painted to match the other one as a pair. l am selling them as a pair as they look fine together. The one with cream fabric is a little larger than the other one, maybe one is a ladies and the other one is a gents. The one with the cream fabric is just a tinge darker than the other one. But looks fine and would look great recovered.

Seat widths vary from 14" to 16" and seat heights are all roughly 18" All have wonderfully rich, matching patinas consistent with chairs from the early to mid 19th century. No broken legs etc. The webbing under the seat is tight– no loose. Torn, or missing pieces with no sign or tears or wear or damage. Just a little dusty. Some of the upholstery trim is loose BUT NOT MISSING. The upholstery itself is not ripped, torn, or has holes. There are a few very small spots on one seat and I am not sure what they are. We are pleased to offer this beautiful pair of OLD. Early 20th century, spindle back chairs. The chairs have influences of both French and English Country. The chairs are solid wood with a rich brown stain(original) and black paint on seats and back head rest area. The chairs have a unique back design. They features turned wood spindles which are off set and a center, curved back rest. The legs and stretchers are also turned wood. The seats are curved(fiddle style) and come to a point in the back. The actual seating area is carved and recessed. The chairs are quite striking and make great dining chairs or lovely accent pieces. They are in good condition with some normal and expected evidence of age and use. There are no broken or repaired spindles or legs. The legs are cabriole style carved which is another sign of superior quality and superb craftsmanship. Rococo was an 18th-century artistic movement and style. Set of 12 Antique 1880 Mahogany English Dining Chairs. A stately set of twelve large. Strong and comfortable dining chairs were hand carved of solid mahogany about 1880 in England. This historic set has traditional ball and claw feet in the Georgian manner. Matched flame grain panels are beautifully figured on the curved backs. The satiny finish is in excellent condition. Large seats are newly upholstered on this antique furniture. This set was purchased at Chicago's Marshall Field and Co. antiques department in the 1980's for $14.000. Fantastic set of authentic antique English pub chairs in pine. With a wonderful patina that can only be achieved by age, smoke, and use. The backs have a wonderful curve for support for the spine and the seats have similar curvature to hold one's bottom comfortably. They are in excellent antique condition, solid and free of any replacement pieces. One chair has a small crack in the seat but it doesn't impact the integrity of the chair. Item: two home-made. Handmade parlor chairs out of hardwood. No Makers marks. Since the family lived in the south, Louisiana-Arkansas areas, this may likely be oak. We know the center part has a burl inlay. Medium brown tone. Have only used Murphy's oil soap to clean with. Originally had a beautiful handmade needlepoint design for the seats. this was a family heirloom. So the great-grand daughter removed them. All is left is the original burlap seat. Fairly tight weave and construction of the burlap. Details: scalloped back rest design with burl inlay. All edges rounded and smooth. spine piece also has complimentary wood carvings and the same burl inlay. Low curved arm rest attaching to curved seat edge. All nice and smooth. SET OF SIX ENGLISH GOTHIC CHIPPENDALE STYLE MAHOGANY ANTIQUE DINING CHAIRS Newly Upholstered. Composed of 18th Century Elements Item# 301LQZ13 With deeply oxidized and worn surfaces preserved under many old layers of wax. This set of six antique dining chairs is incredibly endearing with their 18th Century charm and classical form. The crest rail has a soft bow over the rectangular form of the seat back, this slightly canted for comfort. The seats are stuffed over the rails, the front legs beautifully carved with Marlborough molding- the rear legs are square, most of them with exposed wooden pins through the tenon of the stretchers on the back and side of each ankle. The stretchers are pierced in the Gothic manner, the medial bar dovetailed into the sides from beneath. Each chair is covered in a neutral tone woven fabric. The soft nature ... moreof the fibers giving a certain cottage appeal to the set. These are probably not an ideal set for the collector, as they are at least partially composed of various old components to give them an authentically old look while being crafted probably around the late 19th or early 20th century. They are comfortable and very supportive, each chair very sturdy and ready for regular use in an active dining room. What we love about these chairs is that the natural wear of the surfaces gives license to use the chairs actively without concern about scuffing or scratching, as this only adds more to the natural patina of the chairs. Simply keep some beeswax furniture paste on hand to polish in any scratches and the chairs will continue to shine. This is a set you will certainly cherish in your formal dining room for a lifetime- built to last. They will be a comfortable and very tasteful addition to any classically decorated home. Pair of ENGLISH WINDSOR Brace Back Chairs Early 1800-1899 ASH and ELM
These two gorgeous chairs ooze history and t hese two original hand carved chairs may have come over to California by wagon train. They may be American primitive made or even earlier European. Leg placement was changed on one. Obviously well used they have some flaws. Typcal wood used was ash and elm and I believe these to be the woods but am not an expert. One has had two legs replaced long ago and two screws have been used(first photo) The replaced leg carving decoration is slightly different as shown. There is a"bite" to the seat edge of the chair. The other chair has the middle small circle of the Spoke Pattern missing. From Middletown Ca which was settled in 1860 as Guenoc Village. FINE SET OF TEN ENGLISH GEORGE III MAHOGANY ANTIQUE DINING CHAIRS 19th Century Item# 411RVF15E This is an exceedingly attractive set of English George III dining chairs. Remaining a full pure set with two arm chairs and eight side chairs, all in outstanding condition. With deeply patinated surfaces and many layers of wax over an early finish, the mellow solid carved mahogany of the chairs positively glows. They remain in a very good state of preservation, most retaining their original blocking and with only minor normal repairs throughout. In terms of form. The chairs carefully walk between the overly ornate qualities of the Chippendale period and the more austere form of it's Neoclassical successor. Beneath the soft serpentine of the crest rail, the carefully pierced variform splats frame an interesting central motif resembling a spindle ... moreof spun wool. The stiles pull inward along the length of the back and through the foot, curved along the backside for the upper two thirds of the chair and squaring off for the backsweep of the legs. The trapezoidal seat is set with a slip seat, the chair frame raising around this with a plain and unembellished apron. The seat frame is held together with tenon-mortised joints secured by the glued corner blocks, this augmented in many joints with the addition of wooden pegs. The structure is further secured with an H-form stretcher, the medial and back brace tenoned into the sides and legs. The legs are masculine in their Marlborough form, the inner edges chamfered to slip the profile of the chair. For anyone with a period or classically designed interior. This is an exceedingly fine set of early dining chairs. Remaining sturdy and strong throughout, the chairs are a testament to the longevity of excellent craftsmanship- designed in a style that never goes out of taste, this is a set that will certainly be cherished in your home for a lifetime.
