~BEAUTIFUL~ ~1868~ Antique Victorian Walnut Carpet Folding Chair"Civil War Era" Here we have an antique hand carved walnut carpet folding chair accented with an elegant scroll pediment top backing. The pediment does have one little round knob missing(see picture) It broke off years and years ago. Still looks beautiful and I don't think it's really noticable. The seat. Back and arms are covered with a gorgeous detailed woven carpet(all original) like material which is directly nailed to the frame. All original nails and is still sturdy(see pictures) I wouldn't make this an everyday chair to sit in. I have had it for years and it has always been used as an accent in my livingroom. Each arm rest does have a turn knob on the side(see picture) to make them go up or down. It's quite unique! The chair is still all in tack ... moreand sturdy with no breaks(besides small round decorative knob on top of scroll pediment) The wood does show age with scrapes and marks here and there which is expected for almost 150 years old. You can restore this item or leave as is, if you like that original antique look. The material on the chair is a red/burgundy with black, brown and a mustard color. The material is not in perfect condition but it's still all together.beautiful(see pictures) This chair folds up and reopens with no problem. This piece of antique furniture is stunning and I'm having a hard time parting from it. I must start letting some of my items go due to over collecting: LOL! This is an antique Victorian Folding Carpet Chair that has its original finish and also has its original brass tacks. The back has two slats and the brass tacks at the top of the chair shows that it originally had the carpet attached at the top back. But now the carpet is only attached at the front and back for the seat. It is 24"high and the seat is 10"high(measured from the floor) and it is 10"wide. There is wear showing on the carpet and there also is some wear to the wood but the finish is original.so I am not touching it. This is a very sturdy chair! Civil War era Woman's Folding Carpet Camping Chair
Rare and interesting folding carpet camping chair. Probably made for a woman's height and extra deep for hoop skirts, Civil War era, circa 1860. Patent date for these chairs is 1855, probably made by in NYC by B.J. Harrison and Company. Back is about 29 1/2" high unfolded. The seat is 15 1/2" high and 15" deep(2" deeper than a man's chair) Chair is 16" wide and 27" high when folded. Black paint looks original, not a later addition. Normal wear but in very good condition considering age and it was made for outdoor use. This would be a useful piece for people who do Civil War reenactments.

Victorian Eastlake Wood Folding Chair w/ Carpet/Needlepoint Floral Seat & Back
Up for auction is a very nice old Victorian Eastlake style Campaign folding chair in wonderful condition for it's age. Please review the pictures carefully in case I've missed anything but. To my eye, the wood frame as well as the carpet seat and back are all intact. The only imperfection I can see is a bit of the wood veneer missing and a bit of rippling along the top frame of the chair(see pic#2) The chair measures 35"H x 18" W(arm to arm)x 16" D. BEAUTIFUL Antique Carpet Chair. Victorian Covered Wagon Chair. Civil War Era Camp Chair. Manufactured by Readsboro Chair Mfg. Co. Readsboro Vt. Research tells me it is at least 100 years old because the Co. changed its name to Readsboro Chair Co in 1915. Excellent condition for its age. One visible scratch on front top back rail. The carpet does show wear. But assuming it is original it to is in excellent shape for over 100 years old. No chips, no cracks, no splits, folding aspects work great. From my Estate Sale.original condition. Victorian Eastlake or EW Vaill style folding Tapestry Chair. Some people call it a carpet chair. This chair features what I believe to be the original tapestry on the chair back and seat. The tapestry on the back side of chair is gone. The chair stands nearly 34 inches tall and a little more than 17 inches wide. It is a sturdy chair(my 230 lb. can sit on it! One of the finials on the chair back is missing. This chair for it's age is in good to very good condition. It's not perfect, but the bones are good. Perfect for a restoration project or just putting it in a room and use it! I think this a rare find. I have looked at a lot of images of E.W. Vaill chairs and have not found this one. This has brass casters on the front. It sets on 4 legs. But is spring loaded and rocks back and forth. The spring is adjustable for tension. The pattern of the material has a bird and flowers, along with tassels. The fabric does have some tears. Rare Antique Folding Rocking Chair w/ Carpet seat Wood Rocker vtg Red Eastlake
For sale is an older folding rocking chair. It's very nice and unique looking. The embroidered tapestry seat looks original to the chair. It folds up and down easily and rocks like it should. It's light weight so it can be carried around with ease. It measures about 34 inches tall and back rest is 17 inches across. Chair could be from the late 1800s or early 1900s. I couldn't find another chair like this one. So it's definitely a collectors piece. I did noticed two screws thru the front wood bar everything else looks original. What is unique about the piece is that it has the original carpet and fringe. It's never been reupholstered, so it's all original. There are some areas of wear from usage and age over the years, such as some tears to the fabric in two studs along the top and an area along the bottom of the seat when closed, also pictured. Vintage Victorian Folding Carpet Chair, Original, Mid to Late 1800s To Restore
Antique Victorian folding carpet chair. Circa mid- to late 1800s, we found this beauty sadly neglected in the back of an old garage. It appears to be all original with the possibility that the carpet seat was reattached in the front at some time with tiny tacks. I think these chairs had various purposes but one of them was to take them along on picnics and to concerts in parks so that the Victorian ladies had places to sit without dirtying their finery. This chair seems to be the more basic model with no frills but it has the same lines as the fancier models. Structurally it is in fine condition with no damage to the wood other than a couple of very small nicks. It is. However, filthy having accumulated decades, and possibly a century, of dust and dirt. A great winter project that will eventually produce a showpiece or a nice place to seat ... morethe antique dolls. Open it is about 30" tall; the seat is about 14" front to back and about 14-1/2" wide. Folded it stands about 34" tall and only needs about 5 or 6" of storage space. It is being sold as is.
