Antique Small Sized Farm Made 1850s Rocker with Splint Seat ~ Nursing Chair ~
Description: I usually do not pick up rockers any longer because the post office has made it too expensive to ship them but when I set eyes on this little darling I had to buy her. This is not child sized. It was made for a smaller woman. Possibly as a nursing chair because its smaller size let it be placed under the eaves near the bed since most New England Farmhouses had slanted ceilings upstairs. This has all the boxes ticked that you want to see on one of these chairs. The chair parts look to be made mostly of elm except for the ones you’d want to be stronger like the rockers and bottom stretchers which are made of quartersawn oak. It was hand shaped with a drawknife and there are just a few scribed lines for decoration. Except for the uprights where the scribed lines were used to show where the hand shaped back slats would go. The seat ... moreis in remarkable shape with a perfect little oak splint seat. Based on the wood and style I guess that it was made a little bit prior to the Civil War. Everything from the size to the color scream class as you can tell in my pictures. Please look at all my pictures to judge color and condition for yourself. I added a picture of it next to a 21” tall piano stool to show you the diminutive size of this chair. It will fit nicely in any small corner you have and would look great with a much loved teddy bear or larger doll in it. The chair measures around 27” long along the rockers X 31” tall X 18” wide across the front and the seat is about 13” off the floor. I am offering free local pickup but am willing to meet you anywhere within a 20 mile radius of Keene NH and will arrange shipment to you if you pay the costs. Keep Coming back to see what the relicseeker has to offer. I travel all around New Hampshire. Vermont, and Northern Massachusetts scouting out places for hidden gems. I have a good eye for what people want and there are plenty of places for me to ferret out antiques and collectible from yesterday and a few gems that will become the antiques of tomorrow. I try to take d

Shaker Style Antique Chair, Mushroom Caps, Splint Seat, Late 19th/Early 20th C
This is a late 19th or early 20th century Shaker style armchair. It has mushroom caped arms. A woven splint seat, turned legs, round finials, and an excellent old patina. The chair is 35.75"H, 22.5"W, 21.5 D, with a 16.75" seat height. There are traces of an old red finish at the joinery. I can find no makers marks or numbering so I am unsure of the chair's origination or exact age. There is no movement in the joinery, and the chair is sturdy and strong, easily supporting my 230 pounds. Please do not hesitate to contact me for questions. Antique Primitive Rocking Chair Woven Splint Seat All Original
Antique primitive rocking chair with original woven splint seat. The back has four splats. There are two rungs each. On the front and sides, and one on the back. It stands 34" high, 26" deep, 19" wide, and 16" from the floor. The arms are 8 1/4" across. The right back leg has a 3" split from the top rung up. There is some wear to the splint seat, but it is strong and can be used. The patina on the wood and splints is really nice. Paypal is fine if you are having this shipped.
