The black walnut frames date from the 1860s to 1870s and are very similar. Unless you look closely, you would never know they are not a match as the fabric dominates your eye. One chair has metal castors that are all original and the other chair has wooden castors that appear to be original. The gentleman’s arm chair is in nice condition and I don’t see anything wrong with it. The ladies chair is in good condition with a typical split in the seam in the back that we will tighten up prior to shipping. There are no metal bracing or any poor repairs to the chair.

Condition: Used Location: Wayland, United States For sale are a pair of original antique late 1800's Victorian armchairs. These pieces look to be carved walnut. But they also could be mahogany as ... moreI am not an expert on my wood types. Chairs were recovered and restored back in the 20's or 30's with the current needlepoint upholstery they have now. The upholstery is in nice shape and free of damage. Minor cleaning may be needed as they have sat in one spot unused for many years. Both chairs still sit nicely. And comfortably, with no noticeable wear to the seating. The backs of the chairs are faded(pictured) But since the pics were taken they have BEEN REFINISHED so they now look, and match with the rest of the chair. When looking really closely at the wood you can see a couple spots where the chairs were professionally repaired in the past. Currently the arms on the chairs are loose where they meet the back. The legs are all solid and sturdy with no cracks or breaks that I can find. The there are some minor bumps and knicks here and there on the wood, consistent with age, nothing too bad though, and nothing that couldn't be cleaned up/ refinished, if you felt it was needed. The front legs on both chairs have casters to easily move them about. Antique armchairs measure 26" wide. 23" deep, and 41" tall. I am selling these chairs for an older friend of mine. These chairs originally belonged to his mom who lived to be in her 100s. And he is now in his early 80s, so you can rest assured that these are not Post 1950's reproductions. This sale is for Local Pickup only, but I can deliver in the Seattle Metro area for an extra $30. Beautiful antique Texas-Italian hand-carved parlor chairs (pair)
My great-grandfather settled in Houston. Texas in 1892. His first home was in Houston's Sixth Ward. After a seven-year-old daughter was run over by a streetcar, he took the small settlement the city gave him, bought a 10-acre farm on the other side of Buffalo Bayou, and built a two-story brownstone one mile outside Houston's city limits. The location of that home: Then-San Felipe Road. Now West Dallas. American General Building sits on part of his farm. The home was torn down in the 1950s. That section of Houston was inhabited by new immigrants. Primarily German, Jewish, and Italian. My great-grandfather's favorite neighbor was an Italian gentleman named Grasedonia. After World War I when Germans were automatically suspect, my ggf started selling off bits and pieces of his land to survive. Mr. Grasedonia purchased part of that ... moreland and built a grocery store(now Nino's) In those days. People bartered for food and services. I don't know if these chairs were part of the sale of the land, or if my ggf sold Mr. Grasedonia something else. Whatever the reason, Mr. Grasedonia gave my ggf these chairs, probably around 1920. They were already old at that time. Mr. Grasedonia had carved them himself. I am not a wood expert. So I don't know for certain that the wood is oak, but that would be my guess. The chairs do need a bit of reinforcement. If someone bounced around too much or tried to lean back(a Texas habit) they would probably break. If a person just sits in the chairs, they are perfectly fine. There is absolutely no damage to the chairs(except that they need to be reinforced) My grandmother made the beautiful needlepoint seat cushions in the 1970s. The needlepoint was simply installed on top of the original seat cushions. So the seats are a bit lumpy, as you would expect from chairs that old. You will need to arrange for freight yourself. If you provide me with a UPS or FedEx account number. I would be happy to take the chairs to a UPS or FedEx store and handle the shipment to your specs. But

Large platform rocker, a chair with arms and four chairs without arms. The style is Eastlake or Aesthetic Movement, from the 1880s- 1890s. The ornamentation on the chairs is angular with geometric incised lines and chip carving. There is also burl walnut veneer on all pieces. The condition for the set is usable but they definitely could use a trip to the upholstery shop. The fine stitched upholstery is absolutely gorgeous, featuring complex floral bouquets in the center on a cream ground bordered by sprawled floral designs interwoven with foliage over a mellow teal ground. The arms are upholstered. These curving in the common acanthus hand holds over molded arm supports that join the seat frame in blades of acanthus leaves. Each corner of the chair has a sharp squared inset floral carving inside of which the wooden pins for the tenon-mortise frame joints are cleverly hidden as petals of the flowers. The antique french chairs and the antique french settee all rest over turned and tapered legs. Fluted and ring turned above the plain stump toes. This is a very fine set for collectors that require some good age in the french antiques they select- crafted with the same techniques and precision of the original pieces of the late 18th Century. I have a pair of magnificent chairs for sale. These are solid Mahogany. The crest rail features masterfully carved cherub faces. With leaves carved at the ends. The front legs feature clawed feet carving. The backrest frame sides have fluting. I purchased these from a woman who moved here from England and brought them to the states with here. She said she purchased them from an elderly woman who had inherited them from her grandmother! I am not sure of the age, but they are certainly pre 1900. I have completely striped and refinished the wood. I tried to match the original color as best as possible. The frames were knocked apart and ever joint re glued. One chair had both seat side rails replaced, as the originals were to badly split to be salvaged. One chair also had repair work done on the front seat rail. Chesapeake Treasures Hospice Consignment Store asked me to sell donations to benefit Hospice of the Chesapeake. A former appraiser for the Antique Roadshow provided the information on these chairs. Offered here are a pair of antique American walnut Victorian parlor chairs. She dates then to between 1875-1890 at which time there was a walnut blight that killed the walnut trees. They have a carved arched back and gracefully curved legs. They have been freshly upholster in a pretty green. For sale are a pair of original antique late 1800's Victorian armchairs. These pieces look to be carved walnut. But they also could be mahogany as I am not an expert on my wood types. Chairs were recovered and restored back in the 20's or 30's with the current needlepoint upholstery they have now. The upholstery is in nice shape and free of damage. Minor cleaning may be needed as they have sat in one spot unused for many years. Both chairs still sit nicely. And comfortably, with no noticeable wear to the seating. The backs of the chairs are faded(pictured) But since the pics were taken they have BEEN REFINISHED so they now look, and match with the rest of the chair. When looking really closely at the wood you can see a couple spots where the chairs were professionally repaired in the past. Currently the arms on the chairs are ... moreloose where they meet the back. The legs are all solid and sturdy with no cracks or breaks that I can find. The there are some minor bumps and knicks here and there on the wood, consistent with age, nothing too bad though, and nothing that couldn't be cleaned up/ refinished, if you felt it was needed. The front legs on both chairs have casters to easily move them about. Antique armchairs measure 26" wide. 23" deep, and 41" tall. I am selling these chairs for an older friend of mine. These chairs originally belonged to his mom who lived to be in her 100s. And he is now in his early 80s, so you can rest assured that these are not Post 1950's reproductions. Pair Meeks Carved Rosewood Victorian Parlor Chairs Gold Seats Curved Backs
Offered here for auction is a Pair of Meeks Carved Rosewood Victorian Parlor Chairs. I left these fabulous pair of chairs just as I found them in their original condition. These chairs are in Very Good condition for their age with some minor flaws which is to be expected. I will describe these flaws to the best of my ability. Please use all my photos as part of my description. One of these chairs has a tiny piece of wood missing on the front at the very top shown in photos with a pencil. This same chair has a small brush mark on the curve of wood in front(also in photos) And some minor brush marks on the top back of chair. This chair has a tiny piece of wood on the underneath of it which has become loose, but still in tact. The second chair has a small crack on the back side at the top(see last photo) The back bottom of the leg of this chair ... morehas approximately a 3" span where black electrical tape has been wrapped around it(see photo) This piece of tape appears to have been wrapped around it for a very long time, therefore I left it as found. Both chairs are very sturdy for their petite size, including the chair with the tape on it. I have probably over described the flaws these chairs have, which would be easy fixes for a professional woodworker. Both of these chairs have their original damask silk gold fabric on them which is also in excellent condition. These chairs measure 34" tall and 16" in diameter around their cushion. We are pleased to be offering today a very nice set of Victorian parlor chairs. If needed. We could assist with shipping or delivery, ask about this first. 2 piece set- Antique Victorian Parlor Chairs with Carved Wood Trim. Each has the detailed wood carving of the Jenny Lind style face and head(an image is included to show a similar carving of a Jenny Lind head) A very interesting characteristic. And tribute after the Civil War period. The set has been re-covered and is in pretty nice condition. All the woodwork is in overall good condition.no apparent rips or tears in upholstery. They chairs were recently re-upholstered in a yellow/gold velvet. One of the balloon-back side chairs does have a loose joint on the upper right side. The two sections of wood have separated there. A temporary repair was made with a wood-adhesive. Wood trim might ... morehave some nicks or light scratches. Not noticeable, as you can see from the photos. They really do make a nice seating group of the Victorian era. Please note that antiques are not new and may have some signs of age and use. This adds to the charm and character and shows it's history. MEASUREMENTS- Two side curved"Balloon-back" side chairs- They are the same size. The back frame has a burl wood. They are tight and sturdy. Except one has the upper back joints that need re-glueing. The size of the chairs are a total of 19 inches wide, 21 inches deep(with rear slanted/angled frame) 37 inches high to the carved crest, and approximately 18 inches high to the seat.
