The black walnut frames date from the 1860s to 1870s and are very similar. Unless you look closely, you would never know they are not a match as the fabric dominates your eye. One chair has metal castors that are all original and the other chair has wooden castors that appear to be original. The gentleman’s arm chair is in nice condition and I don’t see anything wrong with it. The ladies chair is in good condition with a typical split in the seam in the back that we will tighten up prior to shipping. There are no metal bracing or any poor repairs to the chair.

But they also could be mahogany as ... moreI am not an expert on my wood types. Chairs were recovered and restored back in the 20's or 30's with the current needlepoint upholstery they have now. The upholstery is in nice shape and free of damage. Minor cleaning may be needed as they have sat in one spot unused for many years. Both chairs still sit nicely. And comfortably, with no noticeable wear to the seating. The backs of the chairs are faded(pictured) But since the pics were taken they have BEEN REFINISHED so they now look, and match with the rest of the chair. When looking really closely at the wood you can see a couple spots where the chairs were professionally repaired in the past. Currently the arms on the chairs are loose where they meet the back. The legs are all solid and sturdy with no cracks or breaks that I can find. The there are some minor bumps and knicks here and there on the wood, consistent with age, nothing too bad though, and nothing that couldn't be cleaned up/ refinished, if you felt it was needed. The front legs on both chairs have casters to easily move them about. Antique armchairs measure 26" wide. 23" deep, and 41" tall. I am selling these chairs for an older friend of mine. These chairs originally belonged to his mom who lived to be in her 100s. And he is now in his early 80s, so you can rest assured that these are not Post 1950's reproductions. Set set of chairs has a commanding presence and feature beautiful detailed carvings one expects from fine Victorian pieces of the 19th century. The 2 side chairs each measures 42 inches in total height from the floor to the very top of the back.With a total width of 21 3/4 inches, a seat width of 18 1/2 inches, seat depth of 18 inches and seat height to the floor measures 17 inches and each side chair weighs approximately 25 lbs. The arm chair measures 44 1/2 inches in height from the floor to the top of the carved back. Arm to arm width measures 28 1/2 inches, seat width measures 20 inches, seat depth measures 22 inches and seat height to the floor measures 16 inches and this chair ... moreweighs approximately 35 lbs. These chairs are covered in a vintage peach-apricot velvet fabric with matching gimp trim. The fabric has no rips or tears but does show some light fading and some tiny speckles are on the seat of the armchair. While these chairs do have a commanding presence when scrutinized closely you can see that each chair does have some old repairs. Pair of Victorian Parlor Chairs (c/1875) -- walnut w/ new upholstery
I inherited this set of lovely Victorian parlor chairs from my parents in 1975. They had been given to them in 1945 from the estate of two sisters who lived next door. The sisters and their parents had lived in the same house since around 1875. Thus. I believe the chairs are about 125 years old. I had the chairs completely reupholstered and recovered when I redecorated our home in 1996-97. Since then I have kept them covered with heavy cotton dust covers(see photos) which are included. The chairs were displayed on a balcony over the foyer and have not been used for seating. I'm a private seller; not a dealer. Thus. I have up for sale a gorgeous matching pair of Antique circa 1870s or there abouts Victorian Walnut Side Chairs. Very unusual upper section featuring carved serpents. The chairs are walnut with burl veneer accents. Eastlake spoon carving and ball top finials. The chairs are in Superb Condition- appear to have been refinished and reupholstered at sometime in the past. This would have been done many years back as the lovely woman that I purchased these from was well into her 80s and probably done this back in the 50s at the time when they moved into their home. They were cherished and extremely well cared for any use wear is most meager-condition wise impossible to get any better than this. The chairs each stand approx 38" tall.Approx 19" wide across the front of the set, approx 18" from the ground to the top of the seat, approx ... more18-3/4" across the wood frame on the top of the chairs back. Perfect for a Victorian Parlor Decor, a bedroom as they are smaller in size, as a desk chair,etc. The chairs are in fabulous condition! Chesapeake Treasures Hospice Consignment Store asked me to sell donations to benefit Hospice of the Chesapeake. A former appraiser for the Antique Roadshow provided the information on these chairs. Offered here are a pair of antique American walnut Victorian parlor chairs. She dates then to between 1875-1890 at which time there was a walnut blight that killed the walnut trees. They have a carved arched back and gracefully curved legs. They have been freshly upholster in a pretty green. They measure 35 inches tall. 19 inches wide and deep and the seat is 18 inches off the floor. Pictures 6 and 7 show repairs, one for each chair. The upholstery was professionally done and the chairs are sturdy. They are a lovely find. The appraiser said they were easily worth $195 each. For sale is this lovely pair of side chairs from a very old VA estate. I do not know when they were made or by whom. I believe they are Walnut but I do not know for sure. The frame of these chairs is carved and very ornate. It has flowers and roses carved into it and the back cushion is not the standard round or square but rather a unique shape. They are currently upholstered in a gold and blue striped fabric that I believe is the original fabric. Up for sale i have a very nice pair of his and hers antique walnut parlor chairs, balloon back, his has about a 40" tall back, 24" x 23" seats, hers the back is about 38" L ooks like the fabric was probably replaced. Looks good. as you can see i pulled back part of the cloth on the bottom hoping to find a name, no name but it was interesting that there was thick strips of what looks like heavy burlap stretched tightly across the bottom. A couple of staples and it will look like new again. Probably from late 1800's. Hers has rollers on the front but not on the back. His has rollers on front and back. PAIR OF Antique CARVED WALNUT Victorian PARLOR Arm CHAIRS Needlepoint 19th Cent
For sale are a pair of original antique late 1800's Victorian armchairs. These pieces look to be carved walnut. But they also could be mahogany as I am not an expert on my wood types. Chairs were recovered and restored back in the 20's or 30's with the current needlepoint upholstery they have now. The upholstery is in nice shape and free of damage. Minor cleaning may be needed as they have sat in one spot unused for many years. Both chairs still sit nicely. And comfortably, with no noticeable wear to the seating. The backs of the chairs are faded(pictured) But since the pics were taken they have BEEN REFINISHED so they now look, and match with the rest of the chair. When looking really closely at the wood you can see a couple spots where the chairs were professionally repaired in the past. Currently the arms on the chairs are ... moreloose where they meet the back. The legs are all solid and sturdy with no cracks or breaks that I can find. The there are some minor bumps and knicks here and there on the wood, consistent with age, nothing too bad though, and nothing that couldn't be cleaned up/ refinished, if you felt it was needed. The front legs on both chairs have casters to easily move them about. Antique armchairs measure 26" wide. 23" deep, and 41" tall. I am selling these chairs for an older friend of mine. These chairs originally belonged to his mom who lived to be in her 100s. And he is now in his early 80s, so you can rest assured that these are not Post 1950's reproductions. These beautiful walnut side chairs have that classic Eastlake Victorian styling. The front legs are on brass casters. The upholstery is velvet and appears to be original with normal wear given the age. They feature a spool rail and center carved medallion with wood railing flanking each side. There is detailing on the back of the chairs. The chairs are approximately 35 inches tall by 21 inches from side to side and 26 inches from front to back. for sale three near mint condition museum quality walnut parlor chairs by john jelliff. the fabric is high dollar. I forget what it cost per yard but it was very expensive. the pattern has an urn in the center, therefore the chairs were not tufted as it would have ruined the design in the fabric. the gimp was hand made by rolling the fabric, very time consuming and added to the cost of re covering. the cost for that on the chairs was close to 1000.00. the larger chair is 43 inches tall, 23 inches wide, 20 inches deep, and 16 inches from the floor to the top of the seat. the two smaller chairs are 39.5 inches tall, 19 inches wide, 18 inches deep, and 19 inches from the floor to the top of the seat. they are just great jelliff chairs made circa 1870. they have a wonderful thick and deep carved crest and outstanding finials on either side of ... morethe top. they are very sturdy and have no damages i am aware of. 2 or the 3 chairs have the original brass casters, i note one has wooden casters which are fine, but i can probably come up with a couple of brass casters if that is a big concern to anyone. they are just great chairs. i have over 150 chairs in my house and really do need to dispose of some of them. here is a chance to get some great john jelliff chairs at their best. they may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyers request. good luck. ps. the fabric is wonderful and the quality or workmanship on the recovering can not be surpassed, however it cost me way more than i was anticipating. i have therefore started the chairs at several hundred dollars less than i have in them. `4`.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Feog4d71f%2B%3E%604%60-14a7316b9e6-0x118-

Matched pair Victorian empire transitional walnut chairs parlor chair suite set
Victorian balloon back chairs from the 18 sixty's or early 1870s era these are walnuts and in extremely good condition they do have old finish. These are upholstered in greenish cut velvet I also have a set that is in a blue velvet material that matches these both are being sold in sets of 2. The last photo shows them with one of the blue chairs for sale so you can see they match perfectly. Both chairs have no breaks and are extremely tight with no visible repairs. They do have some scuffing and wear to the finish as you can see in the photos. I am selling a nice pair of carved walnut Victorian parlor chairs. These chairs are in great condition for their age. I have had these for 20 years. And they currently are placed in my sitting room adjacent to my bedroom. I use them for decoration purposes only, though they are quite comfortable. The upholstery is in good vintage condition.
