It has a dainty carved press back, multi-turn spindles, knuckle arms, multi-turn spindles on the platform base and original castors. This is a great find for those who love original finish antiques. The overall size is 23 inches wide across the arms, 17 inches wide on the seat, 19 inches deep, 40 inches high to the chair back, 26 inches high to the arm and 16 inches high to the seat. You are looking at a 1880's Eastlake Style Victorian Platform Rocking Chair. Aka Patent Rocker. This particular chair, made by Streit& Schmit, Cincinnati, OH is in very good condition. The original patent was issued on January 19, 1875 and Reissued on January 23, 1880. I have copies of the patent paperwork filed by Charles Streit that I will include with the chair. I do not know the exact age of this beautiful piece but it dates to about 1890. This is a unique find as most often the adult or child size versions are found. The youth size is slightly larger than the child size allowing for an older child to use the rocker. This rocker came out of an estate in Cape May almost 20 years ago when I purchased it. I have not attempted to change the coverings it was found with. It could use a good polishing. But I will leave that to the new owner. The rocker is in the Huntzinger style with its beautiful turned arms and stiles. There is no major damage or repairs. For its age. It is in very ... moregood condition overall. Measurements: 37 inches tall from the top spindle to the bottom platform, 15 ½ inch opening for the seat between the arms, and 22 inches wide from the back of the platform to the front. Located on the bottom of the chair is a paper label still visible denoting its authenticity and origin. In terms of condition this piece has been kept in a very good state for something of its age and was obviously only used as a decorative piece. There is minor scuffing on at the foot of the chair as see in the photo but overall there is little to no damage on the sections of wicker. I can see two small old breaks. This is a beautiful antique hand carved oak platform rocker that has been totally restored. The wood was finished in a satin clear and it has brand new upholstery with all new padding. It has high-back styling with upholstered crest rail over four spindle trim. I have up for sale a gorgeous vintage/ antique circa 1880's Victorian GEORGE HUNZINGER duplex spring Barley Twist Mahogany Platform Rocker/ Rocking Chair. The rocker is in Very Nice Original Condition- comes direct from the estate of a local Surgeon- who deceased last year. It still maintains the original bottom side paper logo- The Hunzinger Duplex Spring patent dated Sept 26. 1882- as shown in pic#4. The rocker is priced to sell considering the economic conditions. The rocker is in Excellent Condition- it has obviously been reupholstered at some time in the past but otherwise original. The finish is very nice- clean- some normal minor to be expected light wear but overall excellent. There are no damages nor any repairs to the wood. The rocker is extremely sturdy and from the pics you may not notice- but the wood is quite substantial- ... morethe top rail is approx 1-1/2" thick and the barley twist posts below the arms are approx 1-3/4" thick. This is a very well constructed quality made piece of furniture- You will not find its like in today's world. The rocker stands approx. 41" measured from the ground to the top of the back rail. Approx. 26-1/2" wide across the arm rests, and approx. 28" from the back to the front. I do not know the exact age of this beautiful piece but it dates to about 1890. This rocker came out of an estate in Cape May almost 20 years ago when I purchased it. I have not attempted to change the coverings it was found with. It could use a good polishing. But I will leave that to the new owner. The rocker is in the Huntzinger style with its beautiful turned arms and stiles. There is no major damage or repairs. For its age. It is in very good condition overall. Measurements: 37 inches tall from the top spindle to the bottom platform, 15 ½ inch opening for the seat between the arms, and 22 inches wide from the back of the platform to the front. I have up for sale a gorgeous vintage circa 1860s to 1880s Antique Victorian Walnut DIMINUTIVE SIZE platform rocker. This rocker is a petite size- basically for a woman or smaller framed person. It is lower from the ground to the seat than most rockers of this type and somewhat more narrow than a conventional platform rocker. One of my later pics shows the rocker next to a large Hunzinger Platform rocker and in another pic next to a pair of Victorian Side Chairs- this will help with get an idea of just how big/small this item is. Its almost like what I would call a youth size. More for a petite woman or a smaller framed man- definitely not for any one who is heavy or tall. 1880's Eastlake Platform Rocker ((Beautiful Victorian Chair))
1880's Eastlake Platform Rocking Chair is in great shape for it's age. It has loving wear and no stains on what appears to be the original upholstery and has the original spring. This beautiful chair has detailed wood work and carving all over. Cut through cut outs under the arms and on the bottom of the seat. Have seen chairs not of this quality. Detail or condition go for $450+, so this is a steal at $295 obo but sadly it has to go to make room. Eastlake c. 1890 Victorian platform upholstered patent rocker
Very useable Victorian platform"patent" rocker in the Eastlake style. C.1890. Upholstery is in excellent condition and features a green and gold woven pattern on a cream background-an easy design to fit into many room decors. Back is particlayy button tufted. Typical Eastlake simplified carvings on sides, front, and back, with a central Renaissance Revival motif above the headrest. Not sure of wood type but most likely oak stained to look like mahogany. Front wheels make it easy to move around. Rocks gently with a spring mechanism marked"Pat 0012074" I could not find it in a patent search but it is typical of the mechanism popular in the 1880s. The condition is very good with normal wear and minor scratches due to age. Back 38"h, chair 30" deep, arms 19"h. Pick up only.

For your Consideration. I have here a Very Nice Vintage Antique spindle platform rocking chair. Check out the spindle and wood work There are a few scratches from age on the bottom. I have not touched anything as far as restoring. All the wood is in EXCELLENT condition tho. No rotting. Green and gold velvet seat and headrest. In great condition. Gold brocade trim on seat. Wrought Iron glider base mechanism. all is in perfect condition. Chair is approximately 46" Tall 26" deep. 23" wide. I see nothing wrong with this chair. still very solid. And comfortable! I am unsure of the exact age. I know it is early 1900's. No markings I can see for maker. I am unsure of what this chair is worth guess the beauty is in the eye of the beholder I have seen similar ones go from $100 to $750. There is gorgeous burl walnut across the top. Incise carving all the way around, beautiful incise carving even on the sides and platform of the rocker. Someone has even reupholstered and re-cushioned it previously. The fabric is a pink color that is in outstanding condition and it is prepared for decades of comfortable use. The overall size is 24 inches across the arms, 19.5 across the inside of the arms, 17 inches deep from the back to the front of the seat, 41 inches high as it naturally sits, 17 inches high to the seat and 15 inches high on the back of the slanted seat. Victorian ANTIQUE PLATFORM ROCKING glider/ ROCKER W/ Carved Lion Heads Mahogany
This is a nice clean Victorian platform rocking chair. It has beautiful Lion heads carved on the top.The chair was all restored to the the lovely Mahogany wood. Needle point material was used to restored the cloth. its a very nice light cream pattern flower fabric.there is a small area on the seat that looks like the cloth faded but seen only with a deep eye. the needle work is very close to the original era.Its ready for anyone home.taken out of my father home to yours. no animals.Kids.the color of the platform rocker part is a little light in shade than the top of the rocker. just different tones of the wood they used and it has wooden wheels. It is a lovely piece of the past and would go into anyone home.
