This is a solid crock but it has issues. Large Blue decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color but has a chip at the top branch. Shown in picture 2. There is a large chip at the rim above the ear handle, picture 8. The same ear handle has a chip underneath the handle, shown in the same picture. On the outside, there is a spider hairline that starts on the bottom and runs up the side, see close-up picture in picture 5, 10& 11. I would not trust this crock to hold water. There is one small chip in the dark brown glaze on the inside, last picture. Picture 5 shows a raised dark spot on the outside which appears to be from the manufacturing process. See all pictures. Which would appear to be an early reduced copy of John Mitchell's map. Notably, many of the more interesting annotation derive directly from the Mitchell's map, and the color scheme is reminiscent of early Mitchell maps. The bounadries of Virginia, North Carolin, Souther Carolina and Georgia extend to the Mississippi, although there is a very curious identification of the region south of Georgia which is noted as The South Part of South Carolina. Earl Granville's Property is noted and showing extending from Albermarle Sound to the Mississippi. At least 30 early French and English forts are show, with a large inste oplan of Fort Frederick at Crown Point, built by the French in 1731. The map includes a number of historical notes, including the Virginia-New England border of 1606, The Carolina Charter boundary of 1665, The Limits Stipulated in1738 for Georgia, the Bounds of Hudson's Bay by the Treaty of Utrecht, the North Bounds of New England by Chart of 1620(extending toward the Pacific Ocean to the west of Lake Superior) etc. The course of the Ohio or Fair River is derived driectly from the Mitchell. Description: An uncommon and important 1785 Charles Delamarche and Robert de Vaugondy map of the fledgling United States shortly after the end of the American Revolutionary War. This map is important as the first to describe the 1784 Jeffersonian Ordinance. In doing so the first to apply the term Michigan to a land area, and for its detailed illustration of the new international borders ratified under the 1783 Treaty of Paris. Geographically the map covers from James Bay and Labrador to Florida and the Bahamas, as well as from the Rio de Norte(Rio Grande) to the Atlantic seaboard and Newfoundland. This map's most historically significant feature is its inclusion of a table lower right quadrant detailing the proposed states of the Jeffersonian Ordinance of 1784- the first map to do so. Delamarche, being a known correspondent of Jefferson, must have attained this information well in advance of competing cartographers and considered it something of a coup.
