A tall syrup in a slim tankard ... moreform with gorgeous conical lid in stoneware. It has Aged extremley well. Near Museum quality in our opinion and look at the shape. Slight underglaze darkening but glaze beautiful. gorgeous loop hangle with thumbrest. Lid immaculate. Hinge immaculate. Original gold lines on rails bordering collar almost completely cleaned off but an easy restoration. Magnificent the way it is. There seems to be the slightest rub of the lid on the backside shoulder edge and a nick. Perhaps but otherwise, near museum quality to me. The glaze on the top edge of the tankard looks poured on. Image 12 shows the depth of the glaze and crackling depth. Polychromic Hand colored transfer of a stylized water bird resembling a Great Blue Heron wading in flowered wetlands decorating each side of syrup body has great color and is in beautiful condition. Interesting thumb lever appears to be styled or formed as the back of a book and is serrated in a chevron on the thumb side for a sure grip while pouring. Stands 6 1/2" to the top edge of the slim tankard. And 8" to the finial on beautiful conical lid. Handsome slim tankard form with beautiful classic loop handle with great thumbrest. You will not find many of these around in this condition. Stamped"BENNETT'S/ JAN 23. 1873/ PATENT" I would be interested in the patented feature or innovation represented by that patent. Magnificent slim tapering form. Great loop handle, outstanding lid and outstanding condition make this one you will REALLY LIKE. We cleaned the exterior. Inside is very clean. Beautiful cobalt decorated stoneware crock. It has fabulous decoration which looks like leaves on a vine. It also looks like hearts. It is marked on the front and I believe it to say West Troy Pottery. It measures 7.5 tall and 8 inches across the top. It has a couple of OLD chips on the front and a couple of very small flea bites on one ear. There is also a tight crack on one side. There are lots pf pictures. None of this distracts from the appearance. This stoneware crock is not in mint condition so if you are wanting mint please don't bid. This is an old utilitarian piece and used as such. This stoneware crock came from an auction in Vermont. Unfortunately the lid goes not match the crock. The crock has a nice brown color. There are no cracks. This has a fracture in the that start part way down the side and continues half way across the bottom. This is a fracture not a break. I am not sure what the crock was used for, I have cleaned it up, you may want to do more. Most crocks will have a fracture and some blemishes, to me it adds character to these pieces. There is only one glaze pop located to the right of the side stamp(see photo) There are no chips or cracks. It does have light crazing appropriate for its age and it is very clean. The smaller gallon sizes are harder to find because they were used more often and thus more breakage occured. Nice specimen. In my opinion. I would rate this one 8 or 9 on a scale of 10. Antique 1 Gallon Stoneware Gray Colored Crock With Cobalt Blue Feather Design
Up for bids is a one gallon antique gray colored stoneware crock with a cobalt blue feather pattern as pictured. The crock is probably native to here in southwestern Pennsylvania where many famous potters made their crocks and jugs with this color clay and blue designs in the mid 1800's. The crock stands 10 1/4" high and measures 6 1/4" wide across the top rim and 6 3/4" wide across the bottom. If your looking at the crock from the front where the number one is there is one chip on the top left side. One chip on the bottom edge on the right side and a tight 4" long hairline crack on the back side as seen in the pictures. Otherwise the crock is in very nice solid condition. Antique 19th C Stoneware Cobalt Flower Decorated 1 gallon Crock Jar 11 1/4"
We are listing today for your consideration a lovely Antique 19th Century Stoneware Saltglazed Cobalt Blue Flower Design 1 gallon Crock. This crock has a unique repair to it. Being a hand wrought iron strip with rivet that has been fastened around the base to stabilize an old hairline crack. This crack starts at the center of the base and goes up to the bottom leaf of the 1 flower design. This strip is 100% stable, it does not move, the crock is 100% structually sound it rings true. There is 1 very small chip at the rim of the base that is behind the iron strip. There are no other chips, cracks, and or repairs. The crock measures 11 1/4" tall x 4 3/4" at the mouth x 5 3/4" at the base and weighs approximately 6lb 2oz. The crock has a lovely cobalt blue design of 3 flowers. 2 of the flowers are the same with a open bloom pointing ... moreupwards. The other flower design is of a open bloom drooping with more leaves than the other 2. There are 2 incised lines around the should of the crock. A great crock dating from the mid to late 1800's that we believe to be a Pennsylvania crock that would make a great addition to anyone's collection. If you have any questions please email. Up for auction is a vintage stoneware crock. This is a two-toned crock with a brown and cream finish with a beige stripe through the middle. No chips or cracks on this one other than original surface imperfections from the glazing process. Piece has great character and a nice patina on it. It is around a one gallon container with 8" height and around a 6" diameter. Shipping: I do not try to make money on shipping costs on my auctions. Antique Hamilton & Jones Greensboro Pa 1 gal Crock Stoneware Decorated 19thC VTG
Up for auction is this 1 gallon stoneware crock made by Hamilton& Jones Greensboro Pennsylvania in the mid to late 1800s. It is a putty color stoneware with a clean rich color inside. It is 9 1/2 inches tall. 5 3/4 inches across the top and 6 1/4 inches across the bottom. There is a slight hairline that starts at the rim and is hard to see, starts at top and is 2 1/2 inches long and is inside also. The other is what appears to be a glaze stress line on the back of the crock. As I have tried to show you in last two pics, this hairline or stress fracture starts 2- 3 inches from the top and spiders down like a lightening bolt, as you can see in last two photos, it is not inside the crock. It does reach to approx 2 inches from the bottom of the crock near where there is a chunk chip out of the bottom. Overall this crock is a great piece. ... moreThese imperfections are not noticable. I didn't even see what Im calling a stress fracture to the glaze until just now. I list all imperfections because I want you to know what you are getting. This is a very old stamped on bottom COUNTRY PLEASURES LISBON OHIO 1988 stoneware crock. The crock also has a blue crown stamp on the back with the number 1(see pic) The crock is a very heavy piece with hand painted Jemima/Black Americana dolls on the front and a heart with splash designs on the back. The antique white stoneware pottery lid cover fits onto an antique crock-it is large and thick and heavy(see pics) and it measures approx. 12.25" across in diameter x approx. 2 1/8" tall. The diameter across of the measurement of the underside part that fits into the crock measures approx. 10" to 10 1/8" across(see pic of underside of lid) The lid is a lovely white-washed slip pottery stoneware with a large knob handle at top(see pics) it is in excellent undamaged condition with no stains or cracks or chips-with the exception of one small air crack on the inside of the top rim which was probably made during the heating/firing process and should not be considered a flaw as it appears ... moreto have been made during the pottery's creation-I have included a pic of this in a close-up for your inspection-please see pic. This auction is for an antique 1 gallon stoneware crock jar with original lid and cup. The crock is in great condition. No cracks or breaks. It has a couple little chips along the top edge. But could be mold chips. They look like they've been there for awhile. The lid does have some rust damage, and has a couple spots where it's gone though(pictured) The cup has some rust and has one 1/2" crack(pictured) Measures 10" tall with the cup on it, and 7" wide. Hello. Thanks for viewing this antique salt-glaze yellow-ware stoneware crock(having one handle) with cobalt flow-blue trims. It's unmarked and I believe very old; from the mid to late 1800's(purchased from a local dealer) It has a rough(concave) bisque bottom and some glaze infractions, but is without chips or hairlines. Weight is slightly over 2 pounds, and the crock measures 6-1/4" height with a base diameter of 4-9/16" by 4-1/2" and the ovoid top is 5-1/2" diameter by 4-3/4" diameter. The jug measures 11 1/2" high and a diameter of 7 1/2" at the bottom rim. The handled jug is decorated on the front with a lovely flower form in dark. Rich, cobalt blue. The jug is marked on the top with an impressed mark that reads" SATTERLEE& MORY. FT. EDWARD, NY. Clear, distinguishable marking, The manufacture of stoneware was a major industry in Fort Edward beginning in 1858. George Satterlee opened the Fort Edward Pottery Company. In 1859.
