This unique piece stands 68 inches tall at the center and is 30 inches wide and 18 inches ... morein depth. This is a two-piece secretary which makes moving it a whole lot easier. What caught my eye on this piece was it was a davenport desk. But instead of the typical slant front, this one has a secretary section on top. This is not a married piece, these two started life together, guaranteed. The top has nice intricate Eastlake type of carvings and half pinwheels surround the gallery. The desk top or writing surface drop downs to reveal a nice writing desk. Complete with great little cubbyholes and two drawers. There are no drawers missing, and all the hardware on this piece is original. We have the original key and it is included. The finish is original and has a rich. Warm patina. As with most old furniture, one can see areas where the finish has worn a little from use, which suits me just fine. I like to know that an old piece was used, not just displayed. I am sure if one were to use some stain in places, it would darken these wear spots right up, and then a nice coat of paste wax to continue to preserve this piece. This is local pick-up only. We will be glad to work with the winning bidder and local storage is not a problem. We are willing to deliver within a reasonable commute from the Queen City and we are always traveling to shows. Painted Pine Victorian Cottage Bed, Landscape Scene + original owners' portraits
We don't list a lot of furniture on eBay. So I'm not sure where to start with this painted pine bed, with its unusual center panel folk art painting of a waterfront scene. It is certainly one of the finest examples of 19th century cottage furniture that we have ever seen, and the landscape painting is an unusual feature on the headboard, where it is much more common to see floral displays. To add to its interest and value, we not only have the bed’s provenance, we also have the portraits of the original owners, from whose family these items were acquired about 30 years ago. Let's start with the history. Then. The original owners of the bed were Rev. Samuel Belyea, of Acton, Maine, and his wife, Abigail. According to the family account we were given, the bed was one of the Belyeas' wedding gifts, but unfortunately we don't ... moreknow when they got married. The Belyeas were reportedly distant relatives of David Adjutant, the current or recent county manager of York County. Maine, from whom we bought the bed back in the early 1980's. The story goes that the Belyeas had several children, then Abigail died in a subsequent childbirth. Unable to cope with the children as well as his fulfil his obligations for the church, Rev. Belyea promptly delegated the kids' upbringing to an aunt and uncle, in order to devote his full attention to the Lord's work. Again, the dates of all this are uncertain. Now let's give you some measurements. It is 76" long and 56" wide. The headboard is about 59" tall. And the footboard 29-1/2" The headboard panel with the landscape painting is 23" wide and 12-1/2" tall. The opening for the mattress is about 73" x 53" which means it's a tight fit for a full or double size mattress. If you come across one of those old wooden-framed stretched-spring box springs, that's probably the right size, and then you can put a full size mattress on top of it. Several years ago I bought this fantastic country bed at an estate auction in Powhatan County. Virginia. My intentions were to get it together and put it to use in our guest bedroom. Another bed came along before I got around to it and this one ended up in the garage. It is all original- with great old paint over a dark original surface. The paint has aged beautifully- lots of real alligatoring and oxidation. I'm guessing it was painted around 1900 or before. The posts were turned from 4 x 4 maple(I think- it is very heavy) and feature bold turnings that terminate in big cannonballs. The posts are 46 inches tall; bed is 56" across(wide) outside dimension; it is 50" wide inside the rails; the rails are 64" long; the length inside the rails is 66" The only thing this bed needs are bed bolts and a little tightening of ... moreone joint in the foot board. Eastlake Carved Bed Professionally Refinished for Sale!
Ornately carved Eastlake bed that was professionally refinished for sale! This is everything I can think to tell you about it: I'm trying to sell it because I'm in the process of moving overseas for work and I'm trying not to take any furniture. Cars, or anything else overly large(I'll have other things for sale on eBay until everything is sold) It was purchased from the Kane County Flea Market in St. Charles. IL in approximately 1999 when I resided in Chicago. Good friends of mine who own a famous furniture company in Chicago refinished it as a gift to me. Because they are friends of mine and the work was done as a gift. There is no documentation of the refinish. However, I included a picture of the book and the page from the book on which their shop is profiled. They normally charge between $5k-$7k for this type of refinish ... moredepending on the complexity of the piece and demand. I believe it is Eastlake but do not know for sure. There are no markings I can find that indicate definitively if it is or is not an Eastlake but the vendor it was purchased from had pretty much all pieces he claimed were Eastlake. It has the typical carvings. Shapes, and overall style of an Eastlake piece. It is solid wood which I believe is walnut but I am not 100% sure about that. There are a few blemishes present prior to the refinish that were so deep they could not be removed during the refinish process. As well as a couple of scuff marks which I did point out in the pictures. The inside of the rails were not refinished and are in their absolute naturally used condition as well as the back of the headboard. There are what appear to be scuff marks along the very bottom panel of the headboard but they were refinished as well as they could be and they are not visible when a mattress and box spring are in use. I'm not sure the size of the bed because it is not a standard size used today so I took pictures with the tape measure visible showing all the dimensions of the bed. THREE PANEL DRESSING SCREEN. Hand painted carved wood frame, 19th century, French Louis XVI style or Adam's style. The hinges all fold forwards or backwards so you can make many different shapes(concave, convex, zig zag one way, zig zag the other, etc) The wood frame is carved on the outside edges and all frames with bell flowers and fluting. Arched tops are flanked by carved finials. One side is painted in that great shade of French blue gray, the other side is cream painted. The carved side has muslin stapled to the frame, the plain side is upholstered in moire with triple color gimp. Personally I have not seen a screen carved this nicely in over 25 years. When I bought the screen it was upholstered in the Robert Adams style. Blue gray frame had a bright yellow fabric and orange gimp.unfortunately the fabric had to be replaced. Vintage 1880s pair French regency neoclassical twin beds with custom mattresses and box-springs ordered to fit antique beds. These beds are ready to be used. MEASUREMENTS: The beds are 80 inches long 42 inches wide at the headboard and 40 inches wide at the footboard. The headboard is 64 inches tall including the crown the footboard is 30 inches tall. The mattresses are 73.5 inches long and 34.5 inches wide. LET’S TALK CONDITION: Excellent condition for the age. Much better than what is typically found beds of this type and era, ready to use very clean and with a wonderful patina to the wood. With the original slats, no replacement wood no discoloration no significant or structural damage. The head side of the rails on each bed have a missing part of the decorative designee and the other rail with one intact and one repaired(see the third ... morephoto) One of the footboards has chips on the base of the columns(see last photo) and this footboard also has some loose joints giving it some slight pay, less than typical for antique bedframes. Black Primitive Antique "Bleeding Hearts" Rod Iron Full Bed Found in Rural Texas
This is a beautiful 1800's rod iron bed with bleeding hearts design(see photo#7) I purchased this full size bed years ago from an antiques dealer in Texas who painstaking restored it. Removing any and all rust and painting it a beautiful shade of black. The bed's minimalist design is very hard to find. Typically old iron beds are heavy and clunky however, this bed was made using thinner, yet strong cast iron. Iron rails to hold the head and footboard together(see photo# 8) Bed is in great condition for being nearly two centuries old. Local pick up preferred however. I will ship it. Antique Hand-Turned Shaker Bed Frame
Here's what I know about this bed: It's been in my family for generations. And I just don't have a use for it. I believe the size was called 3/4; smaller than a queen, but not a full, although a full mattress works on it. My mom slept on it for decades- I remember my brothers and I sleeping on it together as little kids. I recall my mom calling it a Shaker bed. It likely comes from Massachusetts, but could also be from upstate New York. All the connections are wood- I don't believe there is any metal on this bed whatsoever. Note how the horizontal support posts screw directly into the head- and foot-boards with the hand-carved threads. Even if you're not interested in owning it. We'd appreciate whatever information you may have on its provenance and what type of wood it is. Ante-Bellum Tester bed from the Como Plantation. 92" tall in excellent condition. This bed was purchased 25 years ago from a descendent of the original plantation owner ~ C.S.A. Captain Lane W. Brandon. The bed purportedly was built by slaves. But we have no documentation to confirm this. Note: Lane W. Brandon was educated at Harvard. Class of 1860, leaving the university to follow the fortunes of the Confederacy. He enlisted as a private in a company raised by his father Brig. General William Lindsay Brandon in April 1861. He saw service throughout the war, and was made a captain after the battle of Gettysburg. He was in fifteen of the principal battles fought by the army of Northern Virginia, being absent from his command only three times, twice from wounds and once from other sickness. Antique Carved Birds Eye Maple Bed w Wooden Siderails, From English Manor House?
This bed is a mid-19th century continental bird’s eye maple and parcel gilt bedstead w/carved decoration and paneled center flanked by turned columns on bun feet. This view in the second photo is from the foot board looking up to the headboard beyond. The headboard is intricately carved with a central carving and monogram of what looks like a stylized“M” and“S” This is flanked by“waves” of gilded carving. The headboard is decorated with two twisted columns with topped by carved and gilded Corinthian capitels. The same motifs are repeated on the foot board. All of the carving is of very high quality. The bed is in very good condition in the sense that it is not warped or cracked or split and has been professionally renovated and cleaned up. There is some wear on the gilt. Which is normal with age and contributes to the patina, some bubbling ... moreand flaking of the veneer. This is an antique and like most antiques not in pristine. Never-been-used condition. It shows some wear but overall a very nice bed. Your mattress and platform base will be supported by wood side rails running the length of the bed providing a very secure base for the mattress and to ensure the bed remains stable. There are just enough mars at the edges and shrinkage separations from age for antique character, plus various restorations over the years. Three dimensional fruit sculptures with grapes. Nuts and leaves are masterfully sculptured on this American made furniture. The bed has been expertly adapted to fit a standard modern queen size mattress and box spring as shown. Wood slats underneath are included. Original side rails have been extended. Size is 93" ... morelong, 72" wide, the headboard is 77" tall and the footboard is 37" high. Three side pieces have marble tops which have been polished and sealed to resist stains. Drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and carved pulls inside"racetrack" moldings. Doors have working locks. Three Cherubs Armoir and Headboard. These were purchased in Canada more than 20 years ago and have been in my possession since. The Armoir is large. 90 inches tall 65 inches wide and 21 inches deep. The armoir has a couple of shelves, one with a drawer. although the shelves are not the best fit. The Armoir comes apart into pieces making easy to move. The matching Three cherub head board is 60 inches wide. And stands 55 inches high. These are not in perfect condition. This incredible bed is just gorgeous set up. the headboard posters are 8' tall and the feet are close to 3' The wood is stained dark with minimal scratches. And it hooks together with square connections. The headboard has spindles and slides into the posts. Someone has added a screen door hook on each post on the back to assure the headboard stays together tightly. Listing tonight is a very nice Antique spool bed from the 1890's. It has classic details and the headboard makes a great statement. It takes an antique mattress[ not a standard size] It measures 47 inches between the wood rails and takes a mattress that measures 47 inches x 72 inches long. It measures 51 inches to the peak of the headboard and 48 inches to top of footboard. The sides are mortise and tenon construction that has a through bolt to pull it tight. The bolts are replacements and make a solid bed for your log cabin or loft. There are heavy duty steel angle irons that hold the box spring in place and at one time a rope support was used. The bed sits up high for tons of under bed storage. These mattresses are sold at Gardner Mattress outlets that are all over Massachusetts.
