The drawer fronts have book-matched crotch mahogany veneers and cockbeading. The fitted interior(sorry for the dust) has burl walnut veneers, ebonized pulls and boxwood stringing. The interior cupboard door opens to reveal a drawer with a secret drawer behind. See photo) The desk measures 44" high by 39 1/2" wide by 20" deep. In overall very good condition. There is some minor loss to the veneer on the feet which we will restore for you. The desk lid is cupped which makes the desk impossible to lock properly though we do have a key. I don't think we want to try to address this particular issue but please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. There is also some cracking of the veneer on the lid but it is all stable, nothing loose. The desk has great color and patination and is guaranteed to be as described. This bed has a shaped crest rail of gorgeous crotch mahogany, underneath the crest are three inset panels topped with Gothic style arches and half drop finials. Their are a couple of chips of missing mahogany on the headboard~see picture.The bed which was originally roped and still has the knobs. The solid cherry post are topped with flame finials. The measurements are 83 inches tall at post, 71 inches tall at headboard, 58 inches wide and 79 inches long. The mattress area is 72 inches long, and 51 inches wide. The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

The writing surface is covered in black felt and pulls out to provide a larger area. There is a large overhanging drawer as well as two smaller drawers and a cabinet below, for even more storage. All of the drawers have brass pulls and escutcheons and dovetail joints. The lower area is spoon carved in a charming leaf pattern. This piece most likely dates from the late 1800's. This piece is in good condition. But does have some cosmetic flaws, as is to be expected in a piece of this age. Several of the escutcheons are missing as well as the door pulls on the upper cabinet. The drawer pulls are loose as well and one of the escutcheons looks like it has been reattached. There is a piece of wood missing from the molding below the desk top as well. See picture) There is also significant wear to the felted writing surface. No other significant damage or repairs. The entire desk stands about 88" 7'4" tall. Along with a wonderful design, that all come together to make a really beautiful set. The bed is 57 inches wide on the inside, and 78 inches long, which makes it somewhere between a full and queen, and is just one great quality bed. It has a big raised panel headboard with jewel-like wreaths carved into both side panels, a fleur-de-lis ribbon molded top and the same design on the curved footboard. The bed set looks like it is made of cherry or yew wood, and is a cherry brown color. It has bolt-in side rails that are a good 12 inches wide, very sturdy and stylish. The dresser has an oversized beveled glass square mirror that swivels, a delicate little fretwork carved heart, multi-molded panel sides on the dresser base, dovetail drawers with heavy bold brass, and is just a great high-quality set. My furniture maker has done a SPLENDID job- using this very decorative Queen Anne Gable pediment as a headeboard- This KING size bed- has the gable pediment for a headboard- a victorian frieze board for the foot board- and old victorian porch columns as the posts. The side rail is made from an old barn beam- modified so that three supports can be used to support a box spring and matress. The dimensions of the matress area are made to fit a King Size matress- The head board peaks at 9' exactly- can be slightly lowered if needed- not more than 6" without throwing the proportion out of whack! The width of the Gable pediment is 112" The total length of the bed as shown is 89" 83" wide on the footboard. The bed is comprised of a shaped headboard and foot board with a pair of side boards which join the top and base and allow a bed base and mattress to be placed on top. You do not want to use a traditional box spring due to the nature of the height of cross pieces from the floor. These were made for the British Colonies in India back in the 1800's. Made of iron. 1800's Hand Made Antique Queen Rope Bed - NY Cherry Wood
Beautiful Handmade Queen Cherry Wood Rope Bed from Cherry Creek. NY. It was modified to add a foot to accommodate taller people. See#8 photo) It was made in the late 1800's. Owned by my Great Grandmother Louise Parsons. Her father was the first physician in the Forestville NY area. It is Colonial style. There are some cracks and scuffs. But the bed is structurally sound. Length of mattress area 76" Width of mattress area is 45 3/8" Longest width 52" Height 44 1/4" Length 84" It is very pretty overall. But it does have some wear and minor scratches on it- consistent with the age of the piece. The white lines on the the lower joints are cracks. three of the four are cracked but the wood is still attached and quite rigid and strong. The cracks can be glued and clamped. Antique Walnut Three-piece Bedroom Set circa 1880s This charming antique three-piece bedroom set is crafted from walnut and burled elm. It features a sturdy full-sized bed. Bi-level marble top dresser with original ½” plate glass mirror, and three-drawer marble top commode with basin compartment. This set is offered here in its original finish and generously decorated with carved floral patterns and finials. The unusual nickel-plated ball joint pulls are original to this set, but the four pull knobs on the dresser are not. Both the dresser and commode have the original castors. The headboard of the bed stands 86” tall while the foot measures 31 ½” tall. This bed frame accommodates a full size mattress/box spring(54” x 76” The dresser and commode are quite beautiful.
