This bed was purchased a year and a half ago from Maine’s Queen City, Bangor, which is well-known for its woodworkers millonaires back in the 1850s-80s. Whoever originally ordered this bed obviously had a lot of class, and price was no object for them. This has to be the most unusual and nicest example of period empire furniture I’ve seen in a long time. Look at the double scroll on the headboard and footboard, the pillars coming down the head- and footboards, the large ogee mounted bracket foot on the base, extra-large bolt-in rails– it’s all just unbelievable. The original casters are still intact. The back side is similar to the front, although it has no pillars, but it does have the fancy scrollwork. This bed was hand-sanded and meticulously gone over for three days by one of my master cabinet makers. He went through and fixed all the little flaws that develop in flame mahogany over the years. Antique Oak Daybed Day Bed Nursery Bed with Mattress
I am moving back to Europe and unfortunately cannot take this Day bed back with me. I purchased this item in London at auction in February 10th. 2001 for 400 pounds sterling and I had it shipped to the US with a lot of other furniture that I purchased. The auctioneers estimate was actually 400- 600 pounds, so I got a great deal on it. Including the auction commission/ freight. In current dollars, my cost was approx. $900 for this item. As I am leaving. I am looking to recover a lot less than this- great deal for you! The bed is from between 1850- 1890 and is French. As a daybed. The bed is intended to be pushed against a wall, and has a front, and two sides, but no back of the bed. We used the bed in our nursery for our twins. And it was perfect. The bed comes with a custom made mattress that I had made in New Jersey. You can sleep on the ... morebed(our nanny did for 2 years) While the bed is solid. The carvings and workwork have to be handled with great care, and we have had to put some extra nails in to secure it. If you are looking for a central piece for a nursery. This is it! As a daybed. It is small. The bed measures corner to corner 53 inches by 80 inches. The mattress measures 45 inches by 72 inches. The top and bottom of bed measure 42 inches high. The bed is comprised of two sides and a carved front. And a low back. It is simple to build and take apart- but once apart the front particular is very fragile. This is where damage can be done. Antique French Daybed, Elegant, Louis XVI style, late 18th/early 19th cent.
An elegant. Painted, Louis XVI style, French antique daybed, painted a variegated green color, upholstered in a soft champagne color velvet, back cushions in a rich floral brocade, check linen fabric on the outside. This bed disassembles completely- for easy transport/moving. It comes with a covered box spring& mattress; two bolsters; and three back cushions. It has been tastefully and professionally upholstered. There are no signs of wear on the bed or the cushions. The bed is 70 1/2 inches long, 33&1/2 inches wide and 36 inches tall. There are some small speck-like stains on the outside back checked fabric, a few on one end. I have not tried to clean them, though I think this could be done successfully. Provenance: The bed comes from the estate of Mr. Richard Mellon Scaife of Pebble Beach, CA.

You are bidding on a wonderful antique(ca 1900) Victorian brass baby bed. Crib that has been converted to a daybed. This bed is absolutely beautiful and functional as a daybed or you can use it as a baby bed or crib. The front rail still pulls up and locks to keep a child from falling out. All the fabric and pillows are new and the pillows are filled with down, except the two long rectangle cushions. The bed is 53 1/2 inches long, 29 inches wide, and 20 1/2 inches from floor to top of the mattress. French Louis XVI Style Daybed--Without Rails
For sale is a lovely 19c Louis XVI style daybed. Two matching headboards minus the rails. These could be replaced, of course, or the two could be used as headboards for two separate beds. The carving and patina are endearing, though the upholstery will need to be replaced. They are structurally quite sound. See photos. I am listing this for local pick-up only. Late 19th ct. daybed, walnut& mahogany, heavy, stunning workmanship & details
Stunning late 19th Century daybed. Walnut and mahogany. Each piece of bed is very heavy and solid. Purchased at auction at Pacific Galleries in Seattle. Two steel hooks on each end of the side boards hook onto end panels(please see photos) and wooden slats are placed on the bottom edges to contain cushion. Measurements are 73 1/2" inside length x 36 1/2" inside width. From bottom of feet to top of headboards it is 38. Outside width is 41" x 83" outside length. The two side boards are 9 1/2" high x 1" thick. This is a very solid and sturdy daybed and can be used in a library or living room for very comfortable reading. Or a guest bedroom/office. It is a real conversation piece. No international buyers, please.
