This bed is the highly desirable'mountain top' or also called'triple hump' style bed with fancy iron castings including angel faces on both the head and foot boards(see photos) The bed is a standard full size 54" wide. But someone has already had the rails extended in length so they can acomidate a queen size boxspring and mattress which is longer also wider than the old style fullsize. This is an antique brass and cast iron double bed from the 1800's. It is marked on metal tag: Whitcomb Metallic Bedstead Company Manufacturers. Shelton. Conn. It is a double bed measuring 54 inches wide. The siderails measure 75 inches long and the brass rails measure 82" The headboard is 57 inches high and footboard is 37 inches high. The bed is very heavy and solid. Some of the seams in brass are split a bit which is common. Everything is tight. The siderails are not original and have been resoldered with ends that fit the headboard/footboard. One of the corner cast iron receptacles has been rewelded/repaired but is fine. Nice old bed. VERY unique antique(circa 1860-1870) British iron and brass double/full size bed with canopy. Dimensions: 53" wide by 85" long. Has 3 round medallions on the footboard set in round bulleted brass frames with inlaid copper and mirrored stars used to ward off evil spirits. This was accomplished by setting mirrors around the bed. And when not-so-friendly spirits would see their reflection in the mirrors they would get frightened and go packing! The bed is missing three of the tiny brass balls that go on top of the finals on the head and footboard in addition to what would appear to be larger brass knobs or balls that would sit on the top 4 corners. Antique brass and iron canopy bed. Aesthetic Movement era with stylized sunflowers on the headboard and a brass plaque depicting the Madonna and Child on the footboard. Originally from Malta, brought to the US in the 1970s. Originally a double bed, the rails have been lengthened to fit a queen size mattress. The width has not been altered. A queen size mattress fits nicely. There are hand-painted flowers twining up the canopy posts, some are worn off with age, others are still there. We don't list a lot of furniture on eBay. So I'm not sure where to start with this matching headboard and footboard from an antique brass and cast iron bed. So let's start with some measurements. They are about 54" wide and the headboard is 61" tall and the footboard 37" The iron cross pieces are designed with tapered conical holes where the side rails attach, while the upper parts are made of a mix of brass and iron(the magnet test yields a variety of results) suggesting that many of the parts that appear to be brass might just be a brass wash or perhaps a brass tube sleeving a heavier cast iron tube. They have some dents and scratches and discolored areas, and, although it's been a while since we set it up, I seem to recall it's pretty fiddly to put together, with those vertical slats developing a tendency ... moreto slide out of their mounting holes. Gorgeous Antique Vintage Brass and Iron Bed
This is a Gorgeous Antique Brass and Iron Full Size Bed. I believe it was made in the late 1800's or very early 1900's but I'm not an expert. Great for decorating a spare room. We've had this bed for over 40 years and I hate to part with it but we have recently re-done our spare room and just don't have room for it any longer. The pictures just don't do it justice. In person. The brass really shines and everything is in excellent condition. We are"antiquers" and looked a long time for this bed. We have never seen another that is so exquisitely decorated with brass on both the head and foot as this one is and in as good condition. It has all the original parts and pieces and it comes with a literally like-new, hardly used firm mattress. 1 Antique Old Porcelain China JELLYMOULD BED KNOB for Vintage Brass / Iron Bed
Vintage China& Brass JELLYMOULD Victorian Bed Knob An unusual Victorian China& Brass JELLYMOULD BED KNOB. It is very ornate and has diamond patent marks on both the china and brass parts. It measures two-and-five-eighths inches high. And one-and-seven-eighths inches in diameter. China part has crazing to glaze and some minor chips at base where brass is clipped over. But otherwise looks very good. Brass part has some age cracking at'neck' but is still strong enough to use. Hole is about 3/8" diameter but thread looks worn. Much of the original lacquer remains and it has not been repolished. Thread could be repaired by soldering a thick washer to base and recutting thread, or filling with epoxy resin. Note on colour- camera has made this look very bright white in the pictures. But it is actually quite a creamy white. Auction ... moreis for the ONE knob. I don't have any others. Antique Brass and Iron Bed - Single (old size) - Original - Not a Reproduction
This bed is 42" wide X 73 1/2" Today's singles are 39" X 75" The headboard is 46" tall. The footboard is 31 3/4" tall. It does not have casters. The ball finials are approx. 2" in diameter This beauty has a solid presence. You can see it's history in the layers of paint. It's currently ivory colored with some chipping of the paint. It once was the same green as the rails. We didn't shine the brass since there is a warm patina on the heavy brass balls. It has a brass rail at the top across the headboard and footboard. The footboard rail has a narrow split that runs approx. 5" across the top& then continues down the side and underneath. But the rail is still very solid! The iron has some fancy detailing and turning before it reaches the brass railings. On the headboard- on either side ... moreof the upright iron posts there is a small hole on either side. Approx. 36 2/4" up. I don't know what these were meant for. But they're original to the bed. A local welder can stretch the rails(add angle iron in the middle of each) and the use of built up wood slats across the rails would accommodate a single or possibly even a full double with 6" overhang on either side.

I now went French in my bedroom. So I am just redecorating. The bed fits a full size mattress comfortably. Some full size boxsprings are a bit large; however I have never had a problem with this. In the picture you will see a mattress that has the pillow top. I prefer this because the bed with a boxspring and mattress is way high off the floor and you don't get to see the whimsical form of the lovely ironwork on the headboard.so that is my suggestion. I also would place a 3/4" plywood across the rails on the bottom to compensate for the boxspring. The bed is in excellent condition. This is an original Victorian iron and brass bed. Not a reproduction. It is very sturdy and in excellent condition. And did I mention beautiful? I have seen few beds like this with the amount of brass railing this bed bears on both head and footboard. When polished up the brass is just gorgeous! It wil hold a standard FULL size mattress. Not a queen mattress. Condition is good for the age being so old. Shipping if applicabe will be by UPS. I can manage to get the bed to the local UPS store on a weekend ad I will take it down there just once. I do not know the cost but the bed is large and heavy. The mattress just hangs over both sides a little in the width. Length is perfect for queen size. There are still remnants of hand-painted flowers twining up the posts.
