The wood pegs on the bottom are about 5/8 inches wide, and one is a little longer than the other. They are not perfect but absolutely beautiful and very hard to find a nice matching pair like this. I had bought these from a gentleman who had a lot of wonderful architectural salvage items in his inventory and he told me that one of them had been cracked near the bottom and he said that he had carefully repaired it with JB Weld and reinforced it with several small metal pins and you have to look to find the repair and probably stronger than original.

Here is an extremely rare opportunity to buy a true southern plantation style bed. Circa 1840's- 1850's, with gorgeous high back crotch mahogany headboard and four posts, nine feet tall with their finials in place. The overall measurements of this bed are 85 inches long by 71 inches wide at it's furthest points. It will fit a full size corner cut mattress as the internal dimensions within the frame measure 75 inches long by 61 inches wide. Tall queen antique spool walnut 4 four post poster bed
For sale is a 1890s- 1910 spool 4 post bed. I believe the wood is walnut. The finials are pineapples. Fits a queen mattress but is a little short for the mattress. I bought a foam mattress and cut off about 1.5 inches at the foot of the bed. If not using foam you will have to have one specially made or use double size mattress. Very tall and striking! Original finish and very sturdy. Measures 90" tall. 62" wide, 80" deep. Pick up only 30 miles west of Chicago in Oswego IL.

FANTASTIC AMERICAN GOTHIC CROTCH MAHOGANY 4 POST BED CIRCA 1850 BEAUTIFUL
This is a wonderful American Gothic style mahogany and crotch mahogany 4 post bed circa 1850. The headboard slides into hooks that attach to the tall head post. This is a very impressive bed with the head post measuring 83" tall and 16" around. They are octagon shaped. The headboard itself is a little lower than the post measuring 78" high. The overall width is 62" from post to post and the headboard is 49" wide. The bed is 79 1/2" long. The foot post are 57 1/2" tall and octagon shaped also at 16" round. A full size mattress and boxspring fits the bed nicely. A good thing about the bed is that the bottom of the boxspring is 17" off the floor and the top of the mattress is 35" from the floor. I like mattresses that sit high off the floor. There is one flaw that can be seen in the photos. For ... moresome unexplained reason the left headboard gothic point has pulled back from the headboard. It is made in one piece with the headboard meaning it does not come off like a finial. I have no idea how this could have occured. It was like this when I bought it. It dosn't bother me but the flaw needs to be disclosed. The finish appears to be original so there are some scuffs and nicks as seen in the pics. The bed breaks down into 9 pieces for easy transport. Bedding and mattress are not included in the sale. Mid 19th Century 4 Post Bed Nice Maple Color Pine Headboard
Wonderful mid 19th century 4 post bed. Bed is in very good condition with nice old finish and great patina. The wooden frame of this bed has been replaced to fit a larger mattress. It comes complete with all the bed bolts to assemble the bed. The posts measure 81" tall. The rails measure 72-1/2" for the sides and 55" for the head and foot rails. The headboard is made of pine and the posts are maple. There is some splitting to some of the posts, but they are strong and sturdy.
