Tall queen antique spool walnut 4 four post poster bed
For sale is a 1890s- 1910 spool 4 post bed. I believe the wood is walnut. The finials are pineapples. Fits a queen mattress but is a little short for the mattress. I bought a foam mattress and cut off about 1.5 inches at the foot of the bed. If not using foam you will have to have one specially made or use double size mattress. Very tall and striking! Original finish and very sturdy. Measures 90" tall. 62" wide, 80" deep. Pick up only 30 miles west of Chicago in Oswego IL.

Early 1800's Twin Bed Ball and Claw Foot Bedframe This is a historic bed easily dating back to early 1800's in the West Indie colonization time. Strong british influence. The exquisite craftsmanship, and the use of very early construction techniques points us to its very early origin. Beautiful dark West Indie mahogany wood was carved and constructed by hand. Its tier shaped headboard is masterfully carved with attention to detail in every scalloped edge. Horned posts at the end of the bed are carved with the same exquisite techniques. 1800's Hand Made Antique Queen Rope Bed - NY Cherry Wood
Beautiful Handmade Queen Cherry Wood Rope Bed from Cherry Creek. NY. It was modified to add a foot to accommodate taller people. See#8 photo) It was made in the late 1800's. Owned by my Great Grandmother Louise Parsons. Her father was the first physician in the Forestville NY area. It is Colonial style. There are some cracks and scuffs. But the bed is structurally sound. Length of mattress area 76" Width of mattress area is 45 3/8" Longest width 52" Height 44 1/4" Length 84" It is very pretty overall. But it does have some wear and minor scratches on it- consistent with the age of the piece. The white lines on the the lower joints are cracks. three of the four are cracked but the wood is still attached and quite rigid and strong. The cracks can be glued and clamped. Antique queen size four poster bed with top rail
Beautiful antique queen sized bed made of solid mahogany. The bed was assembled from two antique single four poster beds from the early 19th century by a master carpenter. In addition to the four posts the bed has a carbed rail that goes all the way around the top of the bed. The bed can be disassembled into eight pieces for transport. I couldn't get a photo of the entire bed because the bed is in a smallish room and I don't have a wide angle lens on my camera. The bed was valued at $1000- $1500 twenty years ago by an expert appraiser. So this is a true bargain. The bed is in excellent condition. There is a small sliver of wood missing from the top rail but it is not noticeable because it occurred before the bed was assembled and refinished. Local pickup only or delivery in the D.C. area for the cost of a rental truck.

Antique English Oak Headboard Footboard with Barley Twist mod for Queen Mattress
Youare bidding on a BEAUTIFUL Antique English Oak Headboard and Footboard Set with rails modified to fit Queen Mattresses. I am not an antique expert or dealer. But I was told when I purchased this set that it is Victorian Style English Oak(medium)manufactured in England in the late 1800's. Both pieces are 54" Wide and 1.75" Deep on corner posts. Thinner across the back. The headboard is 53.25"High and the footboard is 27.25" High. Both have a diamond design in the center panel. And 1.5" slats out to the sides, with Barley Twist on the ends of the headboard only. There is a small screw(hardly noticeable) at the very bottom of the left footboard foot, where it had once had a small crack, but now fixed and solid. Since they did not have Queen beds back 1800's. The rails have been modified to fit a Queen mattress, ... moreso the mattress hangs about 2-3"off either side of the bed. Originally from Malta, brought to the US in the 1970s. Originally a double bed, the rails have been lengthened to fit a queen size mattress. The width has not been altered. A queen size mattress fits nicely. There are hand-painted flowers twining up the canopy posts, some are worn off with age, others are still there. Antique Bed, restored and modified to modern Queen Size
We bought this bed from a reputable antique dealer in San Francisco about 15 years ago. The dealer restores antiques and specializes in modifying beds for modern mattresses' I do not remember the provenance of this piece but I believe it was made in England in the 19th century. You can see it is very ornate without being over-the-top in wood carvings and frills. It is very stable. Though it creaks a little due to a small crack in one rail near where it meets the footboard. I've tried to show where the restorer extended the original rails to make the piece longer for a US queen size mattress. Our teenage son wants a more modern bed, having inherited this one from his Mom and Dad. We're not selling it with the mattress and box spring; just the wooden bed is being sold. Circa 1860– 1880, which boasts a single tier structure with a triple carved floral panel(a sign of good quality) and spindle headboard. Towards the top the headboard sits an open floral carved fretwork dome. Further above, sits an intricately carved floral crown, which is flanked by two angels. The footboard, headboard and sides rails also feature a carved floral fretwork. The footboard also features turned beaded spindles below a barley twist shaped footboard rail. Above the bed frame, the barley twist tapered posts support a protruding carved floral dentil canopy. There are very pretty floral motifs sitting at the top of the posts. This bed has a mid-brown colour it boasts the original polish, which is why it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This bed would look very good in either a contemporary or traditional setting.
