Beautifully turned stiles with shaped finials on all posts. The Bed measures 19 wide. 23 high and the Bed is approximately 33 inches long. Great patina, some age related wear but displays well. The rope bed was in bedrooms from the 16th century until the late 1800s when the first coil spring mattress was constructed. The history of the rope bed is tightly woven with the history of the mattress and the four-poster bed. Most of the four-poster beds were rope beds. Ropes or strips of leather were laced across the bed frame to support the mattress. Sleepers needed to tighten the ropes frequently to ensure firmer support and a better night's sleep. The square rail's are mortised and were pegged into the headboard and footboard. The bed will require some restoration and modification for use. Here’s a nice Antique Bentwood cradle fresh from a local estate. I don’t have the bottom slats or mattress/pad. But I would think they should be fairly easy to replace or made. There are several spots that have been glued(where the wood lifted- mainly across the tops of the bentwood end sections) and it could use a good cleaning, as it has been in storage for many years. This is a beautiful late 19th c. antique daybed in the King Louis 15th style. I believe the wood is possibly a french oak. I had it reupholstered in a french linen that is in perfect condition and a new foam mattress with down padding so its firm but not at all uncomfortable to sleep on. An elegant. Painted, Louis XVI style, French antique daybed, painted a variegated green color, upholstered in a soft champagne color velvet, back cushions in a rich floral brocade, check linen fabric on the outside. This bed disassembles completely- for easy transport/moving. It comes with a covered box spring& mattress; two bolsters; and three back cushions. It has been tastefully and professionally upholstered. There are no signs of wear on the bed or the cushions. The bed is 70 1/2 inches long, 33&1/2 inches wide and 36 inches tall. There are some small speck-like stains on the outside back checked fabric, a few on one end. I have not tried to clean them, though I think this could be done successfully. A pair of beautiful antique metal beds from the Napolianic Wars. These are very unique pieces. Easily assembled. Includes one custom size mattress and all hardware. We bought these beds at an antique store in Hudson NY in 1997. They are slightly smaller than a standard twin bed. Detailed stencil work is very rare.
