This lovely 19th century bedroom set features gorgeous incised carvings of potted flowers.Incised carvings of geometric designs and beautiful applied carvings of scrolls and shells on the head-board and foot-board. The Bed: The bed measures 62 1/2 inches in height at the head-board.39 1/2 inches in height to the top of the foot-board, with the outside with of the bed being 61 3/4 inches and outside length measuring 81 inches and this bed weighs approximately 200 lbs total. The inside mattress area measures 57 1/2 inches wide by 74 3/4 inches long and should fit a full size mattress set nicely, but one should always measure their own mattress set to assure proper fit. The height from the floor to the top of the sides rails ... moreat the enter measures 14 3/4 inches.The bed sets up solid and tight and very sturdy. The right side of the foot-board does have a slight age shrinkage crack about 6 inches long near the bottom right side.nothing major but worth mentioning. This set has awesome carvings of acorns. Dragons, leaves and shields from top to bottom.even the side rails have detailed carvings with carved acorn finials on the headboard and dresser. This fine 19th century set appears to have it original finish as well as the original hardware and mirror. This set was made by Bancroft& Boyden as marked on the inside of the drawers and the dresser does have its original casters intact on the base. The locks are intact on the drawers but we do not have they key. This is a very heavy, solid set and the bed sets up tight and secure. The original mirror does show age appropriate streaking ... moreas common in old mirrors. The only apologies I can find is one of the acorn finials on the bed has a chip on the backside and there is a small piece of molding missing on the left side of the mirror base where it rests on the dresser.see last picture. This bed will easily accomodate a queen sized mattress with minor modifications-see details below. It is made from solid walnut finished to a warm dark honey color. This bed is in excellent antique condition with supurb fit and finish and no damage other than the minor chips and scratches from 100+ years of gentle use. It's very sturdy and solid-notice the thickness of all of the pieces. Dimensions: the headboard is 71" high and 66" wide. The footboard is 32" high and 64" wide.
