The wood pegs on the bottom are about 5/8 inches wide, and one is a little longer than the other. They are not perfect but absolutely beautiful and very hard to find a nice matching pair like this. I had bought these from a gentleman who had a lot of wonderful architectural salvage items in his inventory and he told me that one of them had been cracked near the bottom and he said that he had carefully repaired it with JB Weld and reinforced it with several small metal pins and you have to look to find the repair and probably stronger than original.

Circa 1840's- 1850's, with gorgeous high back crotch mahogany headboard and four posts, nine feet tall with their finials in place. The overall measurements of this bed are 85 inches long by 71 inches wide at it's furthest points. It will fit a full size corner cut mattress as the internal dimensions within the frame measure 75 inches long by 61 inches wide. Tall queen antique spool walnut 4 four post poster bed
For sale is a 1890s- 1910 spool 4 post bed. I believe the wood is walnut. The finials are pineapples. Fits a queen mattress but is a little short for the mattress. I bought a foam mattress and cut off about 1.5 inches at the foot of the bed. If not using foam you will have to have one specially made or use double size mattress. Very tall and striking! Original finish and very sturdy. Measures 90" tall. 62" wide, 80" deep. Pick up only 30 miles west of Chicago in Oswego IL.

The bed is twin size and should fit a standard twin matress though the frame will need to be modified somewhat to accomodate. The bed has a curved canopy with reeded and turned posts with finial tops. There is a headboard but no footboard. The posts are 74 1/2" high and the canopy is 84" at the highest. This early 19th century bed has a commanding presence and even appears to have its old original slats! The head-board features a arched shaped top with scrolls at the shoulders and recessed panels of flamed mahogany below. Beautiful and substantial flamed mahogany tall posts( 4 1/2 inches wide at the square portion) feature carved bee-hive type finials with the tester top frame resting on the top. The bed can also be used with out the tester frame This fine bed bolts together very tight and sturdy. The only apology I can find for this nearly 200 year old bed would be a some small veneer losses here and there on the posts at the square base portion which ... moreis not very noticeable unless very close inspection and not an issue of the sturdiness of the bed and one of the wood bed bolt covers appears to have been replaced at some point in time see last picture. Period American Federal Sheraton Tall Post Solid Cherry Tester Bed
A Museum-Quality American Federal Sheraton Tall Post Bed made of Cherry. This bed features its original tester which is often lost and is set up for use with a full size box springs and mattress utilizing angle irons. The posts are substantial and the bulbous fluting and elegant turning of the posts is of the highest quality. Typical of work coming out of many of the major cities in the Colonial Period. It is possibly from Virginia based on the turning of the foot posts. The head posts are not ornamented which is typical as they were often covered in drapery. The legs are quite delicate and all four are matched with is quite unique for this period. It has a museum-quality finish due to decades of waxing. 19th Century Tall Post Birch Rope Bed
For sale is a nice early 3/4 rope bed with bow top canopy. It looks like Birch to me? The measurements between the rails are 47" wide. And 71" long. The top of the post has been cut for some reason, but the pieces slide over the pins, see the pictures. Two of the bed bolts are also stripped, and need replacing.
