Antique 1800's Cannon Ball Rope Bed Very early 1800's antique rope bed, I believe made of maple wood. With cannon ball posts. The bed is very sturdy and is in very good condition. It appears to be handmade, with excellent craftsmanship, however, it is very old, and does have scuffs, scratches, and cracks typical of antique post beds of this age. All pieces of the bed, including the head board, foot board, and two rails are original. The bed can be put together and also taken apart very easily, and the frame has multiple holes ready for roping. A great piece for any situation.

1800's Hand Made Antique Queen Rope Bed - NY Cherry Wood
Beautiful Handmade Queen Cherry Wood Rope Bed from Cherry Creek. NY. It was modified to add a foot to accommodate taller people. See#8 photo) It was made in the late 1800's. Owned by my Great Grandmother Louise Parsons. Her father was the first physician in the Forestville NY area. It is Colonial style. There are some cracks and scuffs. But the bed is structurally sound. Length of mattress area 76" Width of mattress area is 45 3/8" Longest width 52" Height 44 1/4" Length 84" It is very pretty overall. But it does have some wear and minor scratches on it- consistent with the age of the piece. The white lines on the the lower joints are cracks. three of the four are cracked but the wood is still attached and quite rigid and strong. The cracks can be glued and clamped. Or just filled and sanded. The cracks are most ... morelikely from the wood swelling and shrinking from moisture. The boards used are wide and thick. And do flex with time. Like I said before. Bought many years ago in Pennsylvania Dutch countryside. A great condition rope bed. Very fancy turned railings on the head and foot boards. All of the rope pegs are intact. Appears to be hand carved. A pair of braces was added to the side rails to help hold it together. These can easily be removed. All wood- no nails used in construction, only pegs. Solid cherry- with some of the planking more than a foot wide. Very old- each corner has roman numerals scored in it to match the bed rails. A really great antique piece of history! Local pickup only

I got these beds from an old farm house in Ohio. I was told the first one was a rope style bed so that is what I am calling it. The bed has some scratches and wear because it is very old. It looks to be in original condition. I have added lots of pics so you can see the condition.Both are a bed and a half or 3/4 sized which ever you prefer to call them(about four inches smaller than a full sized bed) The second bed I have just added to the listing also came from the same house. It is very primitive but cool. It has a very tall head board and a rounded foot board. It has an ornate piece on the top but it is broken in a couple of places. It is missing a set of brackets on the rails but could just be bolted together. This is an antique brass and cast iron double bed from the 1800's. It is marked on metal tag: Whitcomb Metallic Bedstead Company Manufacturers. Shelton. Conn. It is a double bed measuring 54 inches wide. The siderails measure 75 inches long and the brass rails measure 82" The headboard is 57 inches high and footboard is 37 inches high. The bed is very heavy and solid. Some of the seams in brass are split a bit which is common. Everything is tight. The siderails are not original and have been resoldered with ends that fit the headboard/footboard. One of the corner cast iron receptacles has been rewelded/repaired but is fine. Nice old bed. Antique 1800's Cannon Ball 3/4 Rope Bed Very early 1800's antique rope bed, I believe made of maple wood. With cannon ball posts. The bed is very sturdy and is in very good condition. It appears to be handmade, with excellent craftsmanship, however, it is very old, and does have scuffs, scratches, and cracks typical of antique post beds of this age. All pieces of the bed, including the head board, foot board, and two rails are original. The bed can be put together and also taken apart very easily, and the frame has multiple holes ready for roping. A great piece for any situation.

Antique Doll Bed& Bedding! A gift from Mary Lennox(born 1793) to a cherished daughter. Purchased at estate sale. R eportedly handed down for generations. Mattress on bed signed in ink"Mary Lennox over what appears to be a 7" A note is sewn on the mattress" Mary Lennox own writing. she was born 1793. February 14" We were able to track down some facts about Mary. She was(as indicated on her handiwork) born February 14. 1793 to Alexander& Elizabeth(McNair) Erskine. She married Captain Thomas Lennox April 20, 1820. We were told that the bedding and bed was made for a daughter(we cannot confirm that- however, one of the doll sheets is marked"Georgianna Lennox" and what appears to be"A 2" age 2? Mary now rests with her husband in Sheepscot Cemetery. Newcastle, Lincoln County, Maine. A picture of their ... moregrave site- along with Mary's date of passing(1878) and age(85) is shown in the listing. A WONDERFUL FIND! The bed is about 20 inches long; about 9.75 inches wide; about 8 inches tall(at head board)we think walnut. But cannot tell with certainty. The pieces are loose, and could be reglued. The foot board is missing. The old string support for the mattress still works fine. There are little marks and scratches here and there, but considering it was crafter well before the Civil War it is in impressive condition. The mattress(with mattress cover Mary made) fits the bed the bed nicely. Soiled. Stains a few tiny holes. The pillow is soiled& stained, but in remarkably good shape. The comforter is also soil& stained…and has little feathers trying to protrude! An extra pillow case and sheet are also soiled and stained, with a few little holes in sheet. The sheet has in black script"Georgianna Y(we think) Lennox A. 2" on it. One sheet is very white, and unsoiled compared to the other items of bedding. It looks newer than all the rest. When assembled you would tighten/turn the 4 posts that are attached to the canvas sail/sacking bedding. The metal gears/teeth would catch in the grooves to keep the bed tight. This is where the sayings"Sleep tight" Hit the sack" originate. Your bedding/mattress would go on top. Heard some people use a futon mattress on these! There is another bed like this on ... moreebay which is in better condition($2000) but does not come with the vintage canvas sacking bottom or metal hardware(RARE) From what we can make out the canvas sail material has been printed"Portland ME" and some numbers. Has 4 finials that are not on bed due to ceiling height. Need at least 81/2 ft ceilings for finial allowance. Canopy is solid wood. This bed is all original except textiles. Well cared for and rolls easy on carpet. In remarkable condition considering age. Box spring and mattress custom made in England at time of purchase. DIMENSION: 501/2Wx84Hx77L. Single brass bed that is extremely well crafted and heavy. Has been part of an estate in Rumson. New Jersey since the late 1800's. In pristine showroom condition and very impressive in person. VERY RARE Antique Oak Murphy Bed Dresser Secretary Desk Book Case 1800's
Extremely RARE Murphy Bed combination that includes built in dresser with drawers. Mirror, bookcase, drop down secretary desk and fold down bed! Incredible quality and workmanship and is perfectly clean and all original finish including glass in bookcase door which is extremely wavy glass. This is a large and heavy piece but rolls easily on it's original heavy steel caster wheels. The whole unit turns easily and the bed folds down easily also as the legs automatically fold down and lock into place. In one of the photos you will see a patent date of 1865 that is on one of the arms that holds the mattress in place. This is simply a wonderful piece of furniture and history during a time of pride of craftsmanship when things simply were not disposable and has thus survived this long for that very reason. Ga(The patriarch of this family was the first Post Master of Reynolds and the bed is believed to have been made locally by slave labor) The posts are each expertly carved from a single piece of cherry wood and the headboard is hand carved from a single piece of pine with scroll details- The bed is in overall excellent condition(Please note there is an old repair to one of the scrolls on headboard.
