Antique queen size four poster bed with top rail
Beautiful antique queen sized bed made of solid mahogany. The bed was assembled from two antique single four poster beds from the early 19th century by a master carpenter. In addition to the four posts the bed has a carbed rail that goes all the way around the top of the bed. The bed can be disassembled into eight pieces for transport. I couldn't get a photo of the entire bed because the bed is in a smallish room and I don't have a wide angle lens on my camera. The bed was valued at $1000- $1500 twenty years ago by an expert appraiser. So this is a true bargain. The bed is in excellent condition. There is a small sliver of wood missing from the top rail but it is not noticeable because it occurred before the bed was assembled and refinished. Local pickup only or delivery in the D.C. area for the cost of a rental truck.

Antique English Four Poster Bed
An extremely nice example of a very large(king sized) four poster bed made for the British Raj dating from 1860. This bed was returned to the UK from India a few years back and then came with me back to the states. As you can see it is heavily carved hard wood. There is no pest damage and very little if any other dings dents or scratches. It is very sturdy and breaks down to pieces for convenient transport as this would have been the original intention as it would be moved between camps. This incredible bed is just gorgeous set up. the headboard posters are 8' tall and the feet are close to 3' The wood is stained dark with minimal scratches. And it hooks together with square connections. The headboard has spindles and slides into the posts. Someone has added a screen door hook on each post on the back to assure the headboard stays together tightly. A full mattress fits on this bed although it has about 2-3" extra on the side due to the change of mattress sizes over the years. If you love history, this is the bed for you. The four central turned posts hold the canopy in place and are held in place by large brass thumbscrews. The two-tier foot and headboard are mirrored in design showing turned spindles. Carvings and a central carved urn flanked by two caved panels either side. Above the headboard and footboard. Two sets of spindles hold the drop down canopy in place. Within each set of spindles is a blind fretwork frame. The bed sits on a set of four Ball and Claw feet. This bed would look stunning in either a contemporary or traditional setting. Regal Classic American Empire Solid Mahogany Tall Poster Bed~Circa 1830 Being offered for sale is this American Empire Solid Mahogany and Crotch Mahogany Tall Post Bed circa 1830. This early 19th century bed has a commanding presence with is four tall massive octagon shaped bed posts of solid mahogany. The head-board features a shaped carved crest of crotch mahogany with a recess panel of crotch mahogany at the center. This fine bed bolts together very tight and sturdy. The only apology I can find for this nearly 200 year old bed would be a small chip on the inside of one of the posts near the top(see last pic) and the inset panel of the head-board has a slight age shrinkage crack neither of which is very noticeable unless very close inspection and not an issue of the sturdiness of the bed. 1870s 4 Poster Rope Bed Low Posts Ontario Canada Antique Primitive
This is a beautiful antique pine 4-post bed from rural Ontario. North of Toronto originally. I have owned this bed for over 40 years. And am now downsizing. It is a 3/4 size. Meaning it is 51 1/2" wide overall outside measurement, and it would take a 49" mattress. Length is 76" inside measurement. You could get away with a double mattress, but it will overhang a couple of inches on either side. The posts are 4' high. The posts are maple. The head and foot boards are pine. The blanket rail is maple. The original rope rails are on the ends. But have been missing for the sides as long as I have had this. We adapted it with old 1890's iron rails and it comes with a fitted plywood base, so all is needed is a mattress. It would be too high with a boxspring and mattress. Alternatively, you could attach the head and foot to ... morea boxspring base. This was refinished 40 years ago. So could have a little refresher of wax, but it is actually not bad. It could also do with a little tightening, but once put together with the rails and plywood, it is very solid and stable. Being maple posts, it is quite heavy. 1800s Antique Cherry Poster Rope Bed With Spring Mattress And Bedding
I am selling the bed for my father. Here is his description: The solid cherry bed was made in the first half of the 1800's( ie;prior to 1850) It was given to my mother in 1912 for her 9th birthday.It is approximately full size bed 52" x 80" and originally had the rope lattice instead of a spring.The pegs for the rope lattice are there as shown in the photos.There is a custom made spring for the bed and custom mattress.The canopy frame is also solid cherry and there is a custom eyelet white cotton cover for the canopy and a skirt for the bed. There are a few small repairs but the bed is in good condition for the age! Also has original crank to tighten the frame screws. See the attached pictures but be aware the bed is not completely setup in them. It looks beautiful once setup with the canopy frame and custom bedding. Victorian Flame Mahogany 4 Poster Bed / Full Size Mattress Fits
Greetings! I am listing this great mid to late 1800s Victorian Flame Mahogany 4 Poster Bed. This is part of my father's estate cleanout. The bed has a very ornate flamed mahogany headboard that is done in the Gothic style(I believe) It stands an impressive 85" tall from foot to top of post. The rails were modified many years ago in order to accommodate a modern full size mattress. I am guessing that this was originally a rope bed prior to that. It measures 76" long between head& food boards. 57" wide between rails(to accommodate a full size mattress) There is really no major damage, although there is a very small spot on the headboard where the veneer is lifting/ bubbling(about the size of a quarter) and another small piece of missing veneer on the headboard about the same size. Not noticeable at all, but mentioning ... moreit for accuracy sake. The whole bed easily comes apart for transport(except the posts, they are one piece including the top turned finials) Other than the modification to the original rails, there does not appear to be any additional modifications or repairs to note. Antique Four Poster Bed with Canopy, Ball and Claw Feet
Not sure if this is full or queen size. It measures 57" wide and posters stand 87" tall. The only issues are the one side going into poster meeting the head board a chip of wood is missing. And a piece of canopy wooden trim is held together with some tape. Probably just needs gluing, can't see it with canopy on it. If you'd like more close up photos let em know. RARE& FINE ANTIQUE FEDERAL NY POSTER BED ALL POSTS CARVED& REEDED_PHYFE SCHOOL Measurements outside of rails: 81.25" long x 56 3/8" wide. Inside rail measurements: 78" long x 53" wide. The bed is 88" high. Circa 1810. This American bed is possibly from the workshop of Duncan Phyfe. Most early beds of this period had plain front posts. Not the case here. This fine mahogany sheraton bed has four nicely reeded and acanthus carved posts of the best quality. The headboard and posts are original with the rails being changed out at a later date with some alterations to the fittings where the bolts go into the posts. A firm fit. The tester is not available. Antique Brass Twin Size Poster Bed - Pre 1900
This bed has been in our family for at least 4 generations. We are not sure exactly how old it is. But we know that it was used before the turn of the century. Size- Twin The bed is solid as a rock when put together. It needs a polish and has a few small dents. Cracks(especially in the balls) I've tried to capture that in the images for full disclosure. Bed comes with the boards which have been customized for box spring support to keep it right in the center and away from the wall. Bed DOES NOT come with box spring. Mattress, or bedding.
