ANTIQUE FRENCH BED Twin Walnut Louis XVth Hand Carved Accents
Antique French Louis XVth bed. Twin size We are very pleased to be able to offer for your consideration this French Louis XVth bed. This Antique Louis XVth bed was brought over from France by the shop owners. It is made of Walnut. And has some beautiful carvings and trim accents. The feet are hand carved, as is accent piece centered on the top of the headboard. The craftsmanship is very impressive, I really like the way the clever design the builder built in, the rail to headboard, and footboard assemblies. The cap rail moulding on the headboard and footboard is beautiful, as are the gracefully curved appliqué trim accents, and the chevron veneers. The headboard measures 58 inches wide. 61 3/4 inches tall(including the carving) and the cap rail is 2 inches thick. The footboard measures 57 inches wide, 38 1/4 inches tall, and the cap ... morerail is 2 inches thick. The side bed rails are 73 3/4 inches long. This bed is an antique French short twin. So it will accommodate a mattress that measures 53 X 72 inches. Condition- The overall condition of this bed is good. But it is an antique, and as such there are a few issues. The most glaring is the attempted repair, and use of a white wood filler on the inside panel of the foot board, a skilled craftsperson could apply a matching veneer to cover this situation. There is a nonstructural crack in the footboard cap rail moulding located just about at it's center. And there is a, approximately 5 inch long, very narrow void between the footboard panel and the bottom of the cap rail(see pictures provided) On the head board there is a long diagonal depression on the upper right panel of the headboard(see pictures) There is also some warping in the veneer on the lower right portion of the headboard, that would be masked by the box spring and matress. And of coarse the non-standard size of the frame will require some modifications in order to accommodate a modern mattress. This Antique French bed frame is a very beautiful piece of furniture. The exquisite craftsmanship, and the use of very early construction techniques points us to its very early origin. Beautiful dark West Indie mahogany wood was carved and constructed by hand. Its tier shaped headboard is masterfully carved with attention to detail in every scalloped edge. Horned posts at the end of the bed are carved with the same exquisite techniques. The artist who sculpted the furniture was very skilled in his craft and every detail was done by their own hand using wooden carving tools. The claw feet are large in scale and very proportionate to the bed. The Bed frame is incredibly old and rare to be found in this fair condition. This is a Pair of Antique Beds. All wood, believed carved, And hand painted with florals. As shown. Here's what I know for sure, These were carried from Wyoming to Oregon. Where they are located now. I don't know how they got to Wyoming. Maybe by wagon train( These beds are not damaged. And not dirty. They are just mighty aged. And have not been restored. So, authentic chic'n shabby, as shown. My intention. Was to strip and refinish. But that didn't happen. I kept these beds on hand for extra guests. Each has 2" wide Steel'L' shape brackets to hold a platform. And I just added a 3/4" thick strand board from Home Depot. Cut short for ease to 32" x 72" And these hold a ton. No prob. These beds come apart. 4 pieces each, and are easy to assemble by hand. I do not know that these size beds are called ... moretwin. I believe that they. Are a little longer and a bit narrower. These were made using Thick Wood. The Side Rails are 1.5" thick. And the footboards and headboards are 1.25" thick. Here are the measurements: The Headboard height is 47.75" 48" in height at the Center. The Footboard height is 32" from the ground to the top at the center. The Widths of these beds. The headboards and footboards, is 39" The Width at the center. Hand carving in solid quarter sawn oak shows superior craftsmanship- artistic detailing. Graceful curves and raised and shaped panels. The original finish is very well preserved on this European furniture. Waxed and buffed. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain the warm honeyed patina. The bed has been adapted to fit a standard queen size mattress as shown. Side rails. Wood slats and mounting plates have been furnished to fit a standard modern mattress and spring as shown, measuring 20" high together. Antique Carved Wood Twin Headboard Pair
Set of 2 carved.Twin size mahogany headboards. Had taken photos to Bonham& Butterfield's in San Francisco and was told these would have been made in the late 1800's-up to 1910, here in the United States, of Mahogany. Both hand carved and machine tooled. They have a dark, rich brown stain. Considering their age, they are in very good condition. The round peg dowels which connect the main body to the side posts are loose and one is missing. There were additional pieces of wood bolted to the lower legs: i believe for attaching to a wall previously. I was given these 15 years ago and have had them stored in my basement workroom:which is dry and ventilated,so they have not endured overly hot and dry,nor damp conditions. Up for auction is a beautifully carved Victorian Walnut Bed Crest. The crest has been carved in the shape of a lady's head. The crest is 12" tall. It is nearly 13" across the curled detail. The thickest area on the crest is at the top of the lady's head. It is about 3 1/2" thick. The crest is in the original finish. There are some nicks in the surface. The original finish has some wear. The tip of the lady's nose is flattened. There is a scratch below her chin. I did not clean or polish the crest. Antique Victorian Walnut Highly Carved Bedroom Suite Bed/Dresser/Night Stand
An exquisite antique bedroom suite all original dating to the mid to late 1800's. This is a 3 piece set made from walnut. Burl walnut and veneer and accented with marble and original hardware that comes with the following pieces. Bed: The stunning bed is sure to be a focal point in the room. The headboard stands 70" high at the back center. It is 65" wide at the widest point. The footboard measures 38" in height at the center. The carved bird motif on the headboard matches the motif on the footboard. The upper edges of the headboard are done in an elaborate acanthus leaf pattern and a matching pattern surrounds the birds in the center. The details on the birds is incredible with finely details individual feathers. There are losses to the veneer on this and there is also a section of wood missing on the carved back area. ... moreThe footboard has a metal strip on the back of it holding the two boards together and there is a paper coating it that has losses. There are age and use appropriate dings and scratches to the frame that one would expect to find on an item of this age. Dresser: The dresser has a beautiful black and gold and white veined marble top. This is one solid sheet of marble. There are some light scratches on the marble but there are no cracks in this piece. The dresser stands 37" high to the top of the marble slab. It is 36.25" wide and at the widest depth it is 21.5" It stands 74" high to the top of the mirror at the center. There are some light losses to the carving and scratches from use on this as well. There are cracks on the side but they do not affect the integrity of the piece.This also has the same matching cross diamond pattern on the sides and front as seen on the head and foot boards of the bed. The edges are also trimmed with an acanthus motif. There is a single drawer above two doors that open to reveal shelving. There is a lock on this and it does work. Footboard and original rails in a cherry finish. Head and footboards are carved with a cut and pierced gallery finishing off the top of headboard. Wood is cut and layered on rails to produce the stepped detail on the ends. Bed fits a standard full size mattress 54" x 75" Pictured in bright sunlight and cloud cover. Bed is in overall very good condition. However, there are some signs of age on this 100 plus year old heirloom- there is some separation between the leg and body on the front right of footboard. Footboard is still very solid. There are also two spots on same leg on side where the wood must have been wet a one time ... moreas the finish color is lighter. There is also a long crack on the carved gallery on top of headboard and two of the six small gallery supports on back of headboard are missing. Gallery is solid and not loose or in danger of breaking. My guess is this crack has been there for many, many years. There are many small marks and scratches on legs. antique hand-carved walnut civil-war era campaign or servant bed
This bed is hand carved from old-growth solid walnut. The fittings are wrought iron and the spindles are unevenly turned. When it is put together. It is very sturdy-the hardware was brilliantly set. It's about 6' long, so it was intended for a tall person to sleep in, not a child. Most likely a campaign bed for an officer, or a servant's bed. It's quite narrow. I cut new slats for it, but it was originally a slatted campaign bed, not a rope bed. There is no mattress for it. There is one crack in the headboard that could easily be repaired. It's all original except for the slats. Must pick it up in Sycamore. Illinois.

Hand Carved American Black Walnut Dinning Set It was made in a carving shop in Batesville. Indiana. It is made from American Black Walnut wood and is all hand carved. I think it is the best workmanship I have ever seen. The face of the drawers is burled and each drawer handle is carved from the drawer. All back legs are carved the same as the front legs. The set consist of a table with(4) 11 inch leaves. The table is(46 X 73 X 30 Tall) has(6) carved leg with the same design as the server, buffet and china cabinet. The table pulls apart on a Roller Beret Slide made by the Perfection Table-Slide Company, Watertown, Wisconsin. There are(6) chairs(2) arm chairs and(4) side chairs. Each chair has the same carved design at the top of the back as seen at the bottom of the server and buffet and top of the china cabinet. The two arm chairs are covered ... morewith white brocade with delectate teal& burgundy stripes, 48 tall& 26 1/2 wide) the(4) side chairs have carved backs and matching covered bottoms, 48 tall& 24 wide) One(1) buffet(97 x 23 ½ x 36 ½) with(6) legs all carved the same and(6) drawers(2) with burled fronts and(4) with carved fronts. All handles carved from the wood of the drawers. The carving design at the bottom of each of drawers is the same as the top of the china cabinet, the top of each chair, the bottom of the Server and under the table. One(1) china cabinet(48 x 20 ½ x 77) with(2) inside shelves and two drawers the same as the buffet and server. The doors are carved with horns, shields, swords, spears. The cabinet has the original key. 1) Server(47 ½ x 21 ½ x 26 ½) with burled drawer front the same as the buffet. All pieces are numbered. The set is in excellent condition. It has never refinished or touched up. The age but somewhere between 1902 and 1917. The person I spoke with who works for the Watertown table-slide Company said the last year this style slide was made was 1917.
