Veill- I am trying to find a signture It is like his style though. Condition: Sturdy. Original patina. The brass tacks on the top of the chair appear to be original. The tacks in the carpet. The carpet, and the material on the back are probably not original. Looks to have been reupholstered years ago and was very well done. The carpet really fits that period. Size: This antique folding rocking chair is 17-1/2" wide. Unfolded it stands 33-1/2" tall X 17-1/2" wide X 22" deep. The seat of the chair slants and is 14" from the ground in the rear and 15-3/4" from the ground in the front. Folded flat it is 38-1/2" tall. Still 17-1/2" wide, and 6-1/2" deep. This chair folds for easy storage. It is a fine dark wood with a beautiful patina. I believe it is walniut. It is built very well and comfortable. The back gently curves. On each side of the top back are two Victorian finlials. The seat is similar a carpet material. But may not be original. It looks great though. There is some fringe missing on the carpet on the top of the chair. This chair is from the 1800s. We bought it in an antique shop years ago and used it at Civil War Reenactments. It consists of(3) pieces: a massively carved bed(with box spring& mattress if you wish) A mirrored dresser with candle holders and marble top, and a commode or wash stand with marble top and marble candle holders. This set is made of walnut with flaming burl inlay. The turnings on the bed are huge! The drawer pulls on the dresser are different from the ones on the wash stand but all are old and fit correctly. We have included photos of the interior of one of the small dresser drawers which shows the hand work in the dovetails and construction providing us with the general age of these pieces. But someone has already had the rails extended in length so they can acomidate a queen size boxspring and mattress which is longer also wider than the old style fullsize.
