It features a massive amoire with original beveled mirrows and carving in the crown area above the armoire and raised carving below the mirrors. The bed can entertain a queen size matress and has massive raised carvings on both the five foot and three foot ends with original carved bracing. 19th Century Raj bed converted to a queen sized bed. Holds a flat foundation and a mattress. You do not want to use a traditional box spring due to the nature of the height of cross pieces from the floor. These were made for the British Colonies in India back in the 1800's. Made of iron. Brass and copper. Original glass wheels are attached to the large 4 upright pieces, 4 cross pieces act as the frame, with an additional 4 cross pieces that create the canopy. The 4 cross pieces at canopy and frame have been professionally increased in length by welding a piece to the existing. A total of 14 pieces, including the head and foot board. This is a excellent. Rare Southern hand made rope bed headboard and footboard from the 18th or early 19th century. It is maple or fruitwood and measures 39" wide and 45' tall for the headboard and 39" wide and 38" tall for the footboard. The bed was purchased from a reputable, well-known appraiser and auctioneer(associated with Antiques Roadshow) by me for my grandson. However, he has been given a bed(a fire engine! so now I am selling this one. It is simply a great Southern piece. The bed is in very good to excellent condition- no wobbles and very sturdy. EMPIRE MAHOGANY SLEIGH BED WITH ROPE FOUNDATION With our compliments we are pleased to offer this all original 19th Century Empire Sleigh Bed with original tapered pole rails to support the bed with a rope foundation. This full sized period bed comes to us out of an intact early 19th Century Rhode Island Estate. Coming by an original intact rope bed is a rarity in itself. When we got the bed it was being used with a plywood bunky board as a foundation instead of rope. These were designed to be used with a thick horse hair mattress that sat a top the ropes. If you are doing a true correct historical preservation of the period this is correct bed. We have recently seen custom bedding made from thick memory foam bedding. Where box spring foundations make the bed height too high& can not be employed. This is absolutely the way to go. The ... morecost is not that much more than a standard mattress. You will need to find a custom bedding company in your city. The ends of the side, head and foot board rails each have toothed wooden gears on them. The bed originally had small wooden locking arms that had matched teeth. These served as a tensioning device that secured the ropes at a desired tension. The outline of these arms are present& can be replicated if so desired. The bed is in absolutely fantastic condition but we would advise you to have some knowledge about antique beds before getting involved with this. Each of the rails secure to the head& footboard with standard bed bolts which come with this bed. The bed is 83" long and 58" wide. The inside dimensions are 51" x 77" The head& foot boards are each 42" tall. This bed was made by a Rhode Island furniture maker for an old New England family whose fortune was made in Clipper ship freighting. It remained in one home since the day it was made for it. 19th Century Antique Bentwood Baby Cradle Crib
Here’s a nice Antique Bentwood cradle fresh from a local estate. I don’t have the bottom slats or mattress/pad. But I would think they should be fairly easy to replace or made. There are several spots that have been glued(where the wood lifted- mainly across the tops of the bentwood end sections) and it could use a good cleaning, as it has been in storage for many years. It measures 36” long x 18-1/2” wide across at the top/sides(20” high) 15” wide across the bottom/sides and the bentwood ends are 28” high. This will be shipped disassembled as shown in photo 7. DRESSING SCREEN hand painted carved wood FRENCH LOUIS XVI or ADAMS 19th century
THREE PANEL DRESSING SCREEN. Hand painted carved wood frame, 19th century, French Louis XVI style or Adam's style. The hinges all fold forwards or backwards so you can make many different shapes(concave, convex, zig zag one way, zig zag the other, etc) The wood frame is carved on the outside edges and all frames with bell flowers and fluting. Arched tops are flanked by carved finials. One side is painted in that great shade of French blue gray, the other side is cream painted. The carved side has muslin stapled to the frame, the plain side is upholstered in moire with triple color gimp. Personally I have not seen a screen carved this nicely in over 25 years. When I bought the screen it was upholstered in the Robert Adams style. Blue gray frame had a bright yellow fabric and orange gimp.unfortunately the fabric had to be replaced. Exquisite nightstand made during the first half of the 19th century from a nicely patinaed walnut. Topped by its original white carrara marble sitting upon a straight façade featuring a drawer and door with wooden knob revealing a storage compartment with single shelf. It does have some age cracks on a couple posts which I have shown in photos. But seems to be structurally sound. Solid Walnut Circa 19th Century 3/4 Bed w/ Matching Trundle Bed Made in NC
The bed was once a rope bed. Both the 3/4 and trundle bed has been restored by local restoration specialist who could also repair the worn place shown on right top. Foot board turn at your expense. The bed looks fine without being refinished. I put a bright light on the area so you would be able to see it well. It was caused by many of our 48 family members who have all spent their time jumping onto bed pushing it into the wall growing up. The caster wheels were put on the bed by my Great, Great Aunt Mary in Woodland, NC to make the bed easier to move to change the linens. As a child we would run with all our might, jumping onto the two step, step stool, hurling our young bodies through the air as if we were flying. We would land with the sound of a big puff of air being pushed through the feathers in the safety of the soft, thick, downed ... moremattress. That landing was as if I was being caught in the gigantic safe, strong, catchers mit God who watched over us as we slept. Three generations and my immediate family's 18 grandchildren and 2 great grand children have outgrown the beds. Wonderful mid 19th century 4 post bed. Bed is in very good condition with nice old finish and great patina. The wooden frame of this bed has been replaced to fit a larger mattress. It comes complete with all the bed bolts to assemble the bed. The posts measure 81" tall. The rails measure 72-1/2" for the sides and 55" for the head and foot rails. The headboard is made of pine and the posts are maple. There is some splitting to some of the posts, but they are strong and sturdy.

For sale is a nice early 3/4 rope bed with bow top canopy. It looks like Birch to me? The measurements between the rails are 47" wide. And 71" long. The top of the post has been cut for some reason, but the pieces slide over the pins, see the pictures. Two of the bed bolts are also stripped, and need replacing.
