This excellent little kitchen crock measures just over six inches tall. And probably hold about a quart. The piece is from an estate, so we really don't know it's actual age, only that it is very old and original. This auctin is for a Vintage 6 Gallon Western Stoneware Crock. Has the maple leaf and the number 6 on the front in blue. This has blemishes and hair line fractures but is intact. I hope the pictures help you. Someone placed a piece of tape along the bottom, I started to remove it but will let you finish. It has two chipped areas along the bottom, top is not chipped. As mentioned there are spider veins or hair line fractures going through it, but no daylight cracks or breaks. Stands right at 13.5" tall and the top diameter is right at 12.75" wide. Vintage Stoneware Six Gallon Salt Glaze Crock with Stenciled 6 and Decor
For your consideration is a salt glazed six gallon crock. I am not sure what company manufactured this crock. However there are some clues that could help: It is yellow(or at least I think it would be if properly cleaned) The 6 and th decor around it were stenciled on. The decor around the 6 has an outside diameter of approximately 2" The crock is hand turned. There is a sigle trim line, running not more than 1/8 of inch below the rounded rim and another single trim line approximately 1 1/4" below the rim. This crock stands approximately 13 1/2" tall and the bottom is approximately 12" in diameter. This crock is very stable, but has the following imperfections: In the front and running downward into the decor circle, is a very tight hairline approximately 4" long. Closer to the right handle, than the front is a three ... morehailine"crow's foot" each of the three hairlines are between 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" long and all three are very tight. On each handle, are minor to insignifcant chips. On the backsideare some places where the glaze is missing. This crock is basically in"as found condition; all I did was wipe the dust off. Antique from the 1910 era. I do have some 1950's crocks that are shippable in my store from roseville. This was from an estate that the lady passed at 92 and this was in her basement along with 7 other crocks which I will list as time permits. I have cleaned them the best I could as they were the dirtiest I have ever seen. There may be some indications of usage.This blue star# 6 crock is in rough condition it still has the wood and metal handles on it although the metal is rusty. There are some chips. Cracks. The lid is in great condition, measures 1-3/4' thick. The crock stands 13" tall 13-1/4" accross the top of the rim. The thing I like the best about this crock is that it really shows it's age just think of all of the history behind it. The inside is just beautiful with the colors of a light tan and darker brown ... moredrip. On the outside it is blue washed with a floral design It also has blue on the handles This stoneware crock is a hair under 4.5" tall and is 6" across the brim. And glaze runs which are possible. This one does have a noticeable skip by the"5" Piece rings very well. The block letters are unique also as this changed shortly after this period also. Smaller Crock 4.75" Tall Oval Shaped 6.25x6.75" UNUSUAL
This auction is for a smaller oval shaped crock. Not an expert on these. I am guessing that this may have been used as a planter. Measures right at 4.75" tall and measures right at 6.75" wide and 6.25" across. The inside has a roughness to around the sides. The bottom is smooth. Outside is mostly smooth to touch, outside bottom is rougher. White with a creamy tinge to it. Very pretty. Could be added to a collection or used for a plant. No chips or cracks on it. She moved from the family farm in 1960. She remembers the crock as a small child. She was born in 1920 so this crock is definitely an antique. Great condition. No chips. A couple very light. Glaze hairline cracks that you need extra light to see& doesn't take away or cause any issues. The stoneware crock is 6" tall& 5.75" across the top. Two tone or two shades of brown. This auction is for an antique H.H. ZIGLER NEWVILLE PA. stoneware crock. It has a nice clear stamp as shown and rather small measuring just 6 1/4" tall by 7" across the top. Crock only holds about 3/4 gallon. There is an old rim chip and some light staining as shown. Rim chip is located on the back side. Directly across from the stamp and can't be seen when displayed. It's unmarked and I believe very old; from the mid to late 1800's(purchased from a local dealer) It has a rough(concave) bisque bottom and some glaze infractions, but is without chips or hairlines. Weight is slightly over 2 pounds, and the crock measures 6-1/4" height with a base diameter of 4-9/16" by 4-1/2" and the ovoid top is 5-1/2" diameter by 4-3/4" diameter. Antique 6 Gallon Cobalt Floral Pattern Stoneware Crock/Churn - 1870's California
Offered for your bidding consideration is an antique stoneware crock. This piece was found in the cellar of a 1870's Stockton. CA home which was the site of a working vineyard and orchard during that time period. We are not sure of the true origins of this crock. Stockton was and still is a major inland port. Ag, dry goods, metals, timber and people came to and from Stockton by ship and boat via the San Joaquin Delta system from the San Francisco Bay in the 1800's. So it is certainly likely this piece could have made a long journey before arriving in Stockton. There were artisans in Stockton during the 1800's producing earthenware and glass goods. A good example of early pottery from these area may be found by seaching for"Stockton Art Pottery" online. DETAILS: Size: 6 gallon crock Material: Stoneware(cerammic) Salt ... moreglazed- crackling present Browned interior Unknown maker. No marks found Also no country of origin mark on base. Antique 6 Gallon Stoneware Crock, F. Woodworth Burlington VT.
Up for auction is a very nice F. Woodworth. Burlington VT. antique 6 gallon crock. The crock is in very good condition, with 1 chip on the very back rim of the crock(see Photo# 5& 6) The Chip is 1 inch long at its widest point and is not noticeable when the crock is being displayed. There is another small chip that I believe happened during the firing 140 years ago, this chip has the original glaze over it. I can't find any other cracks or chips at all. The blue design is of a stylized flower, very nice dark color. I believe that the crock dates back to the 1870's or 1880's. The crock is very heavy weighing in at just under 23 pounds, it stands 13 1/2" tall and 13 1/2" across the top. Up sale is a very nice vintage 6 gallon salt glaze hand turned crock stoneware. The inside has the brown slip interior, and the hand turned rigid( see picture) The croc k is in very good cond ition. Ther e are two very small chips on the inside top rim o f the crock( see picture) And one small chip on the outside bottom rim. On the left handle side( see picture) There are no cracks, the salt glaze clay is beautiful, the crock has elephant ear handles, and two incised lines going around the crock at the handles area( see picture) The design of the crock is just wonderful, it is a cobalt blue eagle with spreading wings, the wing spand is 8" long, the eagle is standing on a very nice cobalt blue design ... morewith the word E PLURIBUS UNUM, also in cobalt blue, this word is found on the back of a dollar bill, the word is Latin, the word mean"out of many" under the eagle design, at the bottom of the crock is more cobalt blue design, it is the number 6 the gallon of the crock, inside blue cobalt design very nice( see picture) It is nice to see a 6 gallon crock with the eagle design, usually find it in a 3, or 4 gallon size, the cobalt designs are ver y vi brant. Antique Stoneware Alkaline Crock Churn 6 gallon Early 1900's
Up for auction is a fantastic six gallon. Gray alkaline glaze churn made I discovered in the back of an old barn where it had probably been sitting for over 100 years. Although most people would call this a crock, it is actually a churn. When found, it had a top with a hole in the middle, but it was broken in half lying inside it, and has since been thrown away. The churn is 18.5 inches tall and 12 inches in diameter at it's widest point. It weighs 22.4 pounds. It has an alkaline glaze on both the inside an outside. This piece was wheel thrown and the lines from the wheel are visible; there are very prominent lines on the inside. It has an applied loop handle with fingerprint depressions near the base of the handle where it was pressed to the body of the piece. Just to the right of the handle is the number 6, which indicates it's ... morecapacity of six gallons. The bottom has lines from the cut off wire, used to remove the piece from the wheel. I don't know anything about pottery so I called gentleman who is well known for buying and selling Alabama Pottery; with many years of experience he is great at identifying the pottery. After examining my photos he informed me that my churn is Ohio Pottery from the late 1800's to early 1900's. I uploaded lots of photos so that you can examine every detail for yourself to verify the item's description. Quality and authenticity. This crock is in excellent condition. There are very few chips and cracks in the pottery; no major ones anywhere. The largest are on the bottom so you can't see them when the crock is upright. It is watertight. The glaze is crazed but that is to be expected with old glaze and gives it a charming crackle glaze look; it is still beautiful and shiny. The churn is watertight. Around the bottom is where too much glaze was applied and dripped dry. Overall the crock is just beautiful and a fine example of the stoneware crocks and churns of the era. The churn weighs 22.4 pounds and shipping will require the purchase of some special mater

VINTAGE BROWN CROCK with handles IT HAS " 6" on the front
GREAT DISPLAY PIECE. NOT SUITABLE FOR FOOD BECAUSE OF A THIN"Y" SHAPED CRACK IN BOTTOM. It could possibly have another 1/2 moon shaped one on the bottom but it may just be the rustic coloring. Either way. It does not show from anywhere. This belonged to my Husband's Mother(who married in 1918)She purchased it new, sometime before 1934. My husband who is now 83, remembers it from way back when he was a child. It has resided on the step of our enclosed patio in our smoke free home since 1987. THE PICTURES DO NOT SO IT JUSTICE. But as you can see, it has a 6 on it and has wonderful rustic color variations. It measures approx. 17" x 10" My husband uses a shortened shovel handle as his walking stick and somehow,over the course of time, some one dropped the stick in there instead of placing it. I will try to get at least ... moreone better picture. The 2 bluish lines in the first picture are a reflection of my legs. This is an early big 6 gallon crock from Ohio. OH) It's ovoid form tells you it probably mid-1800s. This big pot is in great condition with just one little tiny line near the lower side that is more of an age line than a knock or drop line. The crock is solid and rings true and would be beautiful beside your fireplace with your other primitives or pottery. It's heavy thick wall pottery. The 6 is incised on the front. Check all the pictures and bid if you like it.
