Antique,ceramic,1890's Cold Cream cosmetic crock jar pot lid
You are bidding on an antique. Ceramic, under-glaze transferred cosmetic Jar or"pot lid" as they are known. This little item dates to between 1870-1914. That is the period that we know this design was used by th is compan y of Atkinson's of LONDON. As shown in the pics. The jar displays quite nicely despite an inner flange chip which encroaches slightly to the outer side of the flange(please see pics) some slight burial stain shows on the jar. But not overly so. There are some flaws such as a small chip on the top rim of the crock. And inner rim of the lid. Ware along the top rim of the lid and handle. A small crack on the side of the crock. The lid fits perfect but it is a darker brown than the other. I don't know if it was meant to be like this or another lip was put on it. Antique 9-1/4" White Glazed Crock/Tureen Lid w/Design 9-1/4" white glazed cover or lid with knob and concentric ring. The inner ones with scalloped edges. Underside has an inner ring that measures 6-7/8" in diameter. Nice simple design. This is not bright white, but an aged white that has gray undertones to me. There are the usual slubs and imperfections from the glazing process, a couple of small darker areas. Nice condition overall. This is probably a bit small to be a crock lid and too fancy a top. I would sooner think that it's a soup tureen lid or something similar. This will ship in a Medium Flat Rate Priority Box. The P&H listed includes mandatory insurance on this breakable just to be safe. Please note, if you've been watching this listing, that I have amended the measurements. It is almost 9.5" tall. 5 3/4" acrossed the opening, andabout 7" acoss bottom, I would say this would hold over a gallon, There are no cracks to this crocks sounds great, There is some chipping to the bottom and the underside of the lid, If I am correct these crocks were used for storeing meat, you would fry it and place it in the crock and pour fat drippings over the meat and store in a cool place, you could then pull back some of the fat and get your meat out, then put the fat back on this would keep for a good spell. Beautiful Robin's Egg Blue Antique Salt Glaze Butter Crock With Original Lid
This auction is for a Fantastic Antique Robin's Egg Blue Salt Glaze Butter Crock with its original lid. The crock has a neat block shaped pattern around the top and bottom and is beautifully colored in a Soft Blue Salt Glaze. The crock has two side holes for a handle. Both the lid and the crock are in very good condition. Especially considering their age. There are no chips or cracks. Which is rare for crockery of this era. There are several condition issues from th e manufacturing process. Such as glaze drips and roughness around the edges. There is also a firing line around the lid handle(see last photo) It is not a crack as it doesn't go through to the other side. The lid is in very good ... moreperiod condition with no repairs and no cracks, it has some chips-there are no chips on finial knob, on the inside raised rim on top of lid there are only a few tiny minute flea bites or abrasions there(see pics) there are few chips on the surface of the sides of the inside bottom(underside) rim which do not go very deep(see pics) and last on the top of the outermost rim's edge there are 4 chips as shown in pics-please view this and all pics as to condition and color patterning. This auction is for an antique 1 gallon stoneware crock jar with original lid and cup. The crock is in great condition. No cracks or breaks. It has a couple little chips along the top edge. But could be mold chips. They look like they've been there for awhile. The lid does have some rust damage, and has a couple spots where it's gone though(pictured) The cup has some rust and has one 1/2" crack(pictured) Measures 10" tall with the cup on it, and 7" wide.
