Antique Vintage Salt Glaze Brown Crock Jar 1 1/2 QT Wax Seal
Up for bid is a antique brown crock salt glaze jar used for vegetables or fruit. The lid was sealed to the jar with wax. Such jars date back to the 1200's however this one is probably from the 1800's. This jar is 1 1/2 qt. capacity. Stands 7" tall and is 3 1/2" across. You couldn't ask for a nicer piece for it's age as it has one small chip and wear along the rim and another chip on the side, each about 1/5" and some glaze is missing at the bottom, appears to be a manufacturing flaw. Otherwise there are no other cracks or other chips. This would be a great addition to a collection. Please take a minute and look at my other listings which are varied and different. I will combine postage I have considerable inventory I need to consolidate and doesn't help that I keep adding to it. small 1 quart antique vintage stoneware butter crock
This is a small but great old crock. It has no identifying marks. It has lovely character marks and signs of age. The is one very fine crack less than two inches long extending from the rim down and is visible in the enlarged picture of the inside. It has a few poc marks that I believe are not damage but most likely have always graced this lovely crock. It stands 4" high with a 5" diameter and weighs 2 pounds. Hello& Welcome, Here's a fantastic old stoneware crock that's still in great condition. It holds one gallon filled to its brim and measures approximately 9 3/4" high. 6 1/4" wide at the bottom& 5 1/2" wide at the top. The opening is 4" wide and it has a tapered neck. The glazing on this crock is in beautiful condition, inside and out. The crock has no markings on it but I suspect it was made locally as S.E. Ohio was/is well known for its good clay soils for producing pottery, ceramics& glass. Within one half hour of where I live is where the homes of such companies as Roseville Pottery, Hull Pottery, Hall Pottery, Anchor-Hocking Glass, Hocking Glass, Fenton, McCoy Pottery, etc. were located. This old crock, though it is missing its lid(like many) is in very, very good condition with no cracks, nicks, ... moreetc. and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique Vintage 7 3/8" Brown 1 Quart Stoneware Crock Jar with Lid
This stoneware crock came from an auction in Vermont. Unfortunately the lid goes not match the crock. The crock has a nice brown color. There are no cracks. Some light chipping on the top rim, please see all pictures. It measures 7 3/8" tall and 5 1/2" in diameter across the bottom. It holds 8 cups of liquid when full. Nice piece. This vintage stoneware green glaze crock lid measures 4 3/8" in diameter. The rim on the inside measures 3 1/2" in diameter. This lid is in good condition with no breaks. No chips or cracks on this one other than original surface imperfections from the glazing process. Piece has great character and a nice patina on it. Vintage Shaby Chic 1 Gallon Crock - Has A Couple of Hairline Cracks
Welcome! Up for consideration today is a Vintage 1 Gallon Crock that has some damage. This crock was a basement find as I have been slowly going through my childhood home and clearing items from various places where it has accumulated over the years. This crock along with another one I recently listed were both sitting in the dark in a long forgotten corner- I have cleaned them up and having no use for them(I have my own crocks) I am putting them up. This crock has two hairline cracks that start at the rim and some minor chipping at the bottom- I do not know if this crock would hold liquids as I have not tried it other than to wash it out. Another interesting and unique feature of this crock is the appearance of the glaze on the outside- I would almost hazard to say that it is crazing that occurred when the glaze was put on the crock however ... moremany years ago it was made- What is unique about the crazing is it makes the crock look like it is"shabby chic" Yet it is still very much primitive looking. Measurements of the crock are: Approximately 7 inches tall and almost 8 inches in diameter across the top. This Is a 1 Gallon RRP Co. crock from Roseville Ohio. The crock stands about 8" tall and has a diameter of about 7 1/2" There is a cobalt blue crown on the side of the crock with the number 1 in it. The bottom of the crock says"RRP CO. ROSEVILLE OHIO USA" the condition of the crock is excellent. There is not a chip in it anywhere and the glazing looks good. Look at the pictures. TWO VINTAGE ANTIQUE UNMARKED CREAM CROCKS 1 QUART IVORY 1 1/2 QUART BROWN IVORY
TWO VINTAGE~ANTIQUE UNMARKED CREAM CROCKS- 1 Quart Ivory and 1 1/2 Quart Brown& Ivory These crocks have been in the family for for over 70 years. They were used on the farm to collect the cream that was separated from the milk after the cows were milked. My dad is 80 and he tells me that the brown and cream one was used for guernsey cow milk because they give more cream and the cream colored one was used for holsteins. The BROWN and CREAM colored crock is 1 and 1/2 QUARTS. It is about 4 1/2 inches wide and 5 inches tall. The IVORY CROCK is 1 Quart. It is about 4 inches wide and 4 inches tall. The Ivory crock is a bit thicker than the brown and cream one. Both show no cracks or chips. General wear and tear from use. Some crazing in the bottom of the Ivory crock(see photo) Neither has a lid. ANTIQUE 1/2 GALLON SHORT-SIDED SALT GLAZE STONEWARE CROCK This is a nice one half gallon short-sided salt glaze circa 1890 storage crock. Found in eastern Virginia. It measures 7" tall with a diameter of 7" at the top and 5-1/4" at the bottom. It features: a nice variable gray salt glaze on the exterior Albany glaze on the interior a 1/2' extended deep rim potter's finger grooves visible inside incised decoration just below the rim The crock is in very good condition with no cracks. Chips or hairlines. There is some roughness to the top inside rim. A terrific example of a utilitarian piece of late 19th century pottery! Note: All stoneware is double boxed for safe shipment! It is almost"pretty" but it's not suppose to be. None of them were manufactured to be pretty and dainty. However. They truly are IMPRESSIVE pieces to own. When you own one of these, you own a part of history in America. You are almost like a museum owner, or a curator of time pieces on a small level. The factory workers smudged the brown glaze before putting it in the kiln. Milky" glaze covers lower half. PHOTO 3. The bottom is"unglazed" for traction purpose. Glaze is too slippery like glass. Bare stoneware won't slide. Notice the bottom is very solid. PHOTO 4. Here we see the inner covering of dark brown glaze. Easy to clean for re-use and it seals in the contents. Not like Gramma's china. But it works perfectly.
