It has an elaborate cobalt blue decoration with vines, flower and leaves, tendrils etc. This jug is about 19" tall and approx. 10-3/4" across the diameter at the base and about 34-35 inches in circumference at the widest part of the jug. The top and side(of the spout) have very old chips. There is an"in-the-making" defect in the front that you can view with the e-bay magnifier. We can't recall seeing this very charming mark before, and can't seem to find any record of stoneware being sold with this mark, so we're guessing it's at least very scarce if not quite rare. Probably dates to the late 1800's, we're also guessing. We're also not sure, but believe this is either from Mansfield, Ohio or Mansfield, Massachusetts. We invite emails with further information that we can add to this listing. Nicely decorated with a cobalt feather like design below the cobalt washed merchant stamp. And a stamped"2" for a 2 gallon crock above it. Measures about 8 and 3/4 inches tall and 9 and ... more1/2 inches across. There is a crack that begins at the top edge left of the decoration and ends on the base as can be seen in the photos. Otherwise, it appears to be in surprisingly good shape. The only other flaws are in the making glaze pops as can be seen in the photos, one just above the g in general(with a bit of cobalt glaze over it) and then there's one on the interior and two on the back side(each about 1/4 inch across) and some minor imperfections, scratches and wear as to be expected with a utilitarian stoneware piece. Antique 1 Gallon Stoneware Gray Colored Crock With Cobalt Blue Feather Design
Up for bids is a one gallon antique gray colored stoneware crock with a cobalt blue feather pattern as pictured. The crock is probably native to here in southwestern Pennsylvania where many famous potters made their crocks and jugs with this color clay and blue designs in the mid 1800's. The crock stands 10 1/4" high and measures 6 1/4" wide across the top rim and 6 3/4" wide across the bottom. If your looking at the crock from the front where the number one is there is one chip on the top left side. One chip on the bottom edge on the right side and a tight 4" long hairline crack on the back side as seen in the pictures. Otherwise the crock is in very nice solid condition. Being sold as pictured and described so please ask any questions that you may have before you place a bid.

This miniature speckled stoneware crock has a deep colbalt blue four leaf clover and blue circles on either side of it and the name Rumborf on the other side(if I am reading it correctly? I do not know much about it except that I bought it in an antique shop and I can not find anything on the name on the internet. I did find that there was a potter in Maryland that often painted clovers and the clay was speckled. A wonderful miniature stoneware piece. Could be used for melted butter or as a cordial or could be planter in doll house. This is a lovely Antique Early 20th Century 2-Gallon CROWN“Cobalt Blue” Banded in Mint Condition. The crock has no lid or spigot. The crock is clearly marked with the CROWN logo and 2 Gallon size number in the same Cobalt Blue as the band at its center. The Crock is in Mint Condition with no breaks. Chips, cracks or crazing- not even a hairline or nick. It is absolutely pristine. I have never seen another crock with this many decorative“Cobalt Blue” bands. There are 6 of them encircling the crock, each 1/2” wide, 1 at the top, 1 at the bottom and 2 sets 2 on each side of the center. The crock measures 7-1/2” across the top, curving outward to 9” across its bulbous center and narrowing to 8” across the base and stands 11-3/4” high. The stoneware is 1/2” thick. It's unmarked and I believe very old; from the mid to late 1800's(purchased from a local dealer) It has a rough(concave) bisque bottom and some glaze infractions, but is without chips or hairlines. Weight is slightly over 2 pounds, and the crock measures 6-1/4" height with a base diameter of 4-9/16" by 4-1/2" and the ovoid top is 5-1/2" diameter by 4-3/4" diameter. This was found stashed in the box of the attic of our home when we purchased in 1983 from a 92 year old man. The home was built in 1928. Actually their were a dozen bowls! I already had a small collection of vintage pottery. And these were a nice addition! Not sure exactly how old these are. It is a very nice sturdy piece. weighing 3 lbs! and would compliment any crock or stoneware collection. The stoneware/ pottery has a reddish appearance as seen along the top edge and bottom of the crock. The main colors are gray and cobalt blue. There is pitting. Up sale is a very nice vintage 6 gallon salt glaze hand turned crock stoneware. The inside has the brown slip interior, and the hand turned rigid( see picture) The croc k is in very good cond ition. Ther e are two very small chips on the inside top rim o f the crock( see picture) And one small chip on the outside bottom rim. Up for auction is a antique Haxstun& Co. 2 gallon stoneware crock with a blue cobalt bee design. Fort Edward, NY. Andrew King Haxstun entered into the pottery trade as a member of Ottman Bros. Co. in 1867 until 1872. He started another stoneware company as Haxstun& Co. in 1875. So there is great history behind these pieces of stoneware art. Antique 1860's Jas Hamilton Greensboro PA Cobalt Blue Gray Stoneware Crock Jar
Up for a No Reserve auction is a very nice Jas Hamilton& Co antique 1850's- 1860's stoneware crock jar. Crock measures 9.75" tall. 5" across top, 6" across base. Blue cobalt stencil lettering on front reads"Jas Hamilton& Co Greensboro PA" Overall wonderful condition for it's old, old age, no chips! There is one very fine hairline crack as highlighted in my uploaded photos, it is approximately 4" long and extends to the base, I cannot see any sign of the crack going through to the inside. There is one glaze pop from the original firing/making on the base edge, it is not chipped/damaged, but there is a photo of that as well. Please see all photos to determine exact condition. Here is a large stoneware crock from Buffalo NY. There is a 6 on it. Measures 13 1/4" tall and about 12" in diameter not counting the ear handles. In good condition, no cracks, one chip on the base edge, some imperfections under the glaze original to the piece, and some stains. Weighs about 20 pounds before packing. Oyster crock rare cobalt blue stoneware antique (maker IV.Machett) jug decorated
I never find these!and never decorated with flowers!this is the only one of these I have seen in 27 years of looking! I dont want to make a big deal about this. But the fact is it is a big deal if you collect this form. it even still has 100 years worth of basement dirt,dust in side on the bottom! super rare Hudson valley Oyster crock(I found this a 1/2 mile off the river this morning! I think this was made by I.V.Machett in Cornwall NY but you be the judge im just the picker here! super clean. no cracks.this wonderful gem dates from the last quater of the 19th century.great size, great color, great shape! I dare you to find another! winner pays all shipping and insurance. in the pic the size wide is 6 inches in real life.
