For your consideration is six gallon salt glaze crock that was manufactured in Red Wing. Minnesota during the 1880s or the early 1890s. This crock is hand turned and using the slip cup method, the potter(which was also an artist) drew the 6 and the leaf. This crock is approximately 14 1/2" tall and the bottom is approximately 12" in diameter. This crock has a minor chip, a hairline and is badly stained. The chip is on the left side and closer to the back than it is to the front. The hairline is on the right side, further back than the handle, but closer to the handle than the back; this hairline runs downward for approximately 5" The stains are everywhere. We have this old Redwing butter churn crock to offer in good as found condition. It is marked with the wing and Union Stoneware logo. It has wire handles. No lid and a nice 4" wing. The crock has a flaw on the bottom that looks like it was made this way. Just a hole, small. not a chip. There is a 1" crack that is on the bottom rim that is also a firing crack. Only shallow and not seen inside. This is a good Redwing Churn and is a hard to find piece. It is in good clean condition and is 16 1/2" tall. This company was previously known as Red Wing Union Stoneware(1906-1936) and was originally known as Red Wing Stoneware(1877-1906) Part of Red Wing Potteries production was stoneware until 1947. This crock has a Red Wing that is 2" long. This crock is slightly more than 10 3/4" tall and the bottom is approximately 9 7/8" in diameter. This crock has a crack that is approximately 13" long. This crack starts at the rim and is vertical for 3-4" then curves until it is almost horizontal when it ends. There are chips associated with this crack. Vintage 3 Gallon Red Wing Union Stoneware Co Crock Redwing MINN. 10" Tall NEAT!!
This auction is for a Vintage Red Wing 3 gallon crock. Has a blue number 3 on the front. A red wing and the Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. Red Wing Minn. Stands right at 10" tall with a diameter of right at 10.5" across. This has some blemishes, a chip on the rim and fractures across the bottom as you can see in the photos. Also on the bottom someone has placed felt pads so the crock wouldn't scratch any surface it set on, these could be removed. This is solid, the fractures are not breaks. Up for auction is a very nice old cottage cheese crock. With the name"Fairmont's cottage cheese registered" written on the front. The crock is about 7 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches in diameter. 3 gallon Union Stoneware Co. crock. Red Wing, Minnesota. Early Red Wing, circa 1890. This old crock with the double birch leaf design has good markings and displays extremely well. In the first four photos, I've rotated the crock 90 degrees to give you a full picture of its exterior. In the fifth, a picture of the bottom of the crock as seen from the interior, you'll see a"spider crack" that occurred during baking. It does not extend through to the exterior, and the crock is watertight. In the third and sixth photos, you'll see a very fine hairline crack that extends about 8" along the base. The seventh photo shows an inverted"Y" shaped hairline stress crack in the side of the crock. The crock measures 10 1/2" across the top and stands 10 3/4" tall. For your consideration is a hand-turned salt glaze 3 gallon crock made by North Star Stoneware Company. This crock is unmarked. But I have been led to believe that stoneware pieces with upturned hand drawn leaves were manufactured by North Star Stoneware Company. This company was located in Red Wing. Minnesota and existed from 1892 to 1896. The 3 and the upturned leaf are hand drawn by the slip cup method and are in black. This crock has an Albany slip glaze on the interior. This crock has the"ear" type handles. This crock is approximately 10 1/4" tall and the bottom is approximately 9 5/8" in diameter. This crock has one minor chip on the interior of the rim; this chip is approximately 1/2 of an inch wide and less than 3/8 of an inch tall; this chip is approximately halfway between the side and the back. Here is a Vintage Red Wing Minnesota Union Stoneware Co. 2 Gallon Crock. It is rare because of a factory flaw- the oval was applied upside down! I understand that this occurrence is not unheard of. But it is rare. Here is an opportunity to add a different crock to your collection. The crock is in pretty nice condition. Has some wear and a very minor chip along the bottom rim. Also a little"pit" adjacent to the oval and two scrapes through the wing that looks to me like it left the factory that way. Wing is about 4" long. Photos describe best.

Bottom Marked Red Wing Stoneware Salt Glaze Crock with Hand Drawn Target
For your consideration is a bottom marked two gallon Red Wing Stoneware salt glaze crock made in Red Wing. Minnesota. This decoration was hand drawn on stoneware pieces during the 1890s. Red Wing Stoneware ceased using salt glaze in 1895-1896, which means this crock was manufactured during the early or middle 1890s. This crock is almost 10" tall and the bottom is slightly over 9" in diameter. This crock has an X shaped very tight hairline, this hairline is on the left side and the center of the X is approximately 3 1/2" above the bottom; these hairlines are very tight and the longest of the two lines is approximately 4 1/2" long and I can see neither hairline can be seen on the inside. Around the bottom are some chips; these chips are all pictured in at least one picture. The clay, this crock was made from did not have ... moreall the air pockets worked from it and as a rule these pockets of air expanded during firing making the exterior of this crock have bumps and lumps. Bottom Marked Minnesota Stoneware Co. Red Wing Crock with Shiny Glaze & Tie Ring
For your consideration is crock with a tie ring. This crock has a capacity of slightly more than one gallon. The tie ring is a groove around the top for a string or twine to hold in place a cloth. That is placed over the top, to shield the contents from whatever is in the atmosphere around it. This crock was manufactured by Minnesota Stoneware Co. This company was founded in Red Wing, Minnesota in 1883; in 1906 it merged with Red Wing Stoneware Co. to form Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. This crock has a shiny brown glaze that is almost black; which I assume was originally intended to be brown, but there was metallic elements in the clay or glaze that melted during a firing, causing the shiny, almost black appearance. The bottom marking, is probably the most distinct I have ever seen. This crock is slightly more than 6 3/4" tall and the ... morebottom is approximately 8" in diameter. This crock has glaze skips. On the rim is one very minor chip. On the bottom edge are nine minor to insignificant chips. On the rim, on the bottom edge and on the bottom are marks made with a marker. Vintage Red Wing#3 Crock that was made by the RED WING Union Stoneware Co. in Red Wing. Minn. The piece measures about 10 1/2" in diameter and stands about 10 3/4" in height. Great condition with one small chip on bottom edge, hard to see, but I did photograph it. Overall a very nice historic piece to own. Hand Decorated Red Wing Stoneware Salt Glaze Crock w/ Kiln Stacking Marks
For your consideration is a two gallon crock with a salt glaze exterior and Albany slip glaze on the interior. This crock was made by either Red Wing Stoneware or Minnesota Stoneware. Both companies were located in Red Wing. Minnesota and they used the same designs often. The two companies merged in 1906, but that was 10-16 years after this crock was made. The 2 and the target were both hand drawn with a slip cup; a slip cup is like a squeeze bottle that will not squeeze. On the bottom of this crock are marks that show it was placed atop smaller items while being fired. This crock is almost 9 3/4" tall and the bottom is 9" in diameter. This crock has 0 cracks, however it does have three chips around the edge of the bottom; two of the chips are quite large and one is very small. On the interior, is a white substance that I have not identified. Five Gal. Red Wing Union Stoneware Crock with Four Inch Wing & Never Had Handles
For your consideration is a five gallon crock that was made by Red Wing Union Stoneware Company of Red Wing. Minnesota. On this crock the 4" wing and the 5 are very bold. The oval is 2 1/4" wide and has standard wording and decoration. This oval and wing combination of wing and oval was used from around 1917 to 1933. This crock was made without handles. This crock is slightly over 13" tall and the bottom is almost 12" in diameter. This crock does have rust stains on the interior's bottom. Approximately 120 degrees from the front is a crack. This crack starts at the top rim and runs vertically for approximately 7 1/2" Approximately 160 degrees from the front is a barely perceptible chip. 20 Galllon Gal. Red Wing Crock Lid Redwing
Auction includes a hard to find original lid for a 20 gallon Red Wing Crock. As shown this does have some minor manufacturing flaws which are common in stoneware items this size. Pictured are a couple of surface hairline cracks that do not go through the lid. The metal bale as shown has some rust. Have included close ups of area where lid was not completely glazed over and has since acquired some age discoloration. Also note a couple of glaze pops. Underside shows quite a bit of excess material around the center area along with another hairline which does not go through. These were not fine pieces of china and quality control was lacking. Despite the above mentioned this is still the nicest example of a 20 gallon lid I have seen. Appears all flaws were production made with little if any post production damage. The $50 shipping is just a estimate ... moreas piece is heavy and will have to be crated to ensure safe arrival. If there is and over charge in shipping it will be refunded.
