Rare Primitive Stamped 3 Gallon Crock Antique Salt Glazed Crock W Cobalt -Fisher
Unique hand painted three gallon salt glazed crock with beautiful cobalt blue markings. This is one from my personal collection that I need to whittle down a little bit. Its absolutely beautiful! The cobalt blue flower and number three richly stand out. The front of the crock is STAMPED"J FISHER LYONS NY" and was made sometime between 1872 and 1902. It measures 9 3/4" tall and 11" wide not including the handles. There are two cracks on the back that are pictured. Since they are on the back they do not affect the ability to display this piece. There are also two small chips on the inside rim. Otherwise it's in great condition and can be a unique beautiful piece to add to your collection. Happy bidding! Good luck! Posted with
Rare Antique Two Toned Brown White Crock Kennedy Barrowfield Potteries Glasgow
This auction is for a rare crock. It was made by Kennedy Barrowfield Potteries Glasgow. I really know very little about it. It stands 13 to 14 inches tall and is approx 9 inches in diameter. The handle is in great shape. The only flaw is a chip by the rim and I uncertain if this possibly is original to the piece and happened during it being made maybe in the firing process. Regardless it is an amazing piece of pottery. Thanks for looking.
Antique Stoneware: Superb 19thC. New England Crock w/ Rare "Taunton Blue Bird"
This Rare 2Gal. Taunton Blue Bird" Crock is absolutely stunning. The Cobalt decoration is big. Bold and flawless; a perfectly executed Slip-Trailed design. This folky Bird is heavily shaded and perched on a thick, dotted twig. Clearly impressed on the shoulder: F,T, WRIGHT& SON, TAUNTON, MASS. There should be periods, rather than commas(F.T. WRIGHT) but this stamp error only adds to the appeal! Franklin Wright(and his son) ran this Massachusetts stoneware manufactory for 10 years, beginning in 1866. Fine, consistent Salt Glaze exterior; Albany Slip inside; some age-appropriate mineral stains on the rim and inside edge. A few insignificant nicks on the inner rim; otherwise in excellent overall condition! No cracks, repaired damage, restorations or other excuses! This is undoubtedly the best Bird-Decorated example I have seen from ... morethis MA pottery. Measures 10-1/4"W x 9"H overall. the base and inner rim diameters are 9-1/2" and 8-1/4" respectively. Antique Stoneware: Rare 4G CT Crock w/ Cobalt Tulip, A.E. Smith & Sons, 1850-60
An impressive 4Gal. Crock manufactured in Connecticut. 1850-1860. Features a well-executed Floral or Tulip decoration in Brushed Cobalt. The overall condition is excellent; just a nick on the base and some staining near the base(backside) No hairlines, cracks or repaired damage! Some information on this Stoneware Manufactory and its various names follows: firms Smith& Day. A. E. Smith and Sons, A. E. Smith's Sons, A. E. Smith's Sons' Pottery Co. and The Norwalk Pottery Co. all worked out of the Smith Pottery in Norwalk, Connecticut. In 1812, A. E. Smith(1798-1880) was apprenticed to his uncle, Absalom Day. Smith was in partnership with Noah Selleck, as Selleck& Smith, from 1837 to 1843. The business was continued briefly under the name Smith& Day(1843 to before 1848) For a time Smith worked alone, but in 1848, his son Theodore Smith, who had managed the firm's New York store at 38 Peck Slip, became a partner in A. E. Smith& Son. Still later, Smith's sons Asa and Howard Hobart joined the firm as A. E. Smith& Sons(about 1850 to 1860) Sometime between 1860 and 1864, A. E. Smith retired from active management of the pottery, and the firm name became A
Antique Blue White Salt Glaze Stoneware Large Milk Crock Bail Bowl RARE! Minty!
In the years that I have owned this bowl I have never seen another one. The best I can tell from my internet research and consulting the Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware. This is an Apple Blossom on diamond waffle patterned salt glazed stoneware milk crock. It is missing the bail. Aside from that, this piece is near mint. There is a imperfection in one of the bail ears that appears it may have occurred during the firing process because it looks glazed over. No other cracks, no chips. It measures 10" across(or just under 11.5" from bail ear to ear) 5" high and 6" wide across the base. Milk crocks this size in other patterns are in the book. The molding on this is very sharp and crisp. The apple blossom on diamond waffle is shown on other pieces such as butter and salt crocks, however I cannot find this ... morepattern on this bowl anywhere. If you have ever seen one or have any information on this piece I would love to know more, please message me! I have no reason to believe this is a repro(usually reproductions are found in quantity) BUT I am not an antique expert by any means so please check out these pictures for details and if you have any questions please ask before bidding. Make an offer& thanks for looking! Posted with FREE priority shipping. I will carefully pack this item and have it to the post office same or next day after payment received!

Rare Antique A.B. Wheeler Boston, MA Stoneware Crock w/Large Bird & Branch Glaze
This auction is for a rare A.B. Wheeler& Co. 3 gallon stoneware crock with a beautiful cobalt blue bird decoration. This crock is incised A.B. Wheeler& Co. 69 Broad Street Boston. Mass. above a large number 3. There is a very large decoration of a bird on a branch, which takes up most of the front of the crock. The crock is about 10.5" tall and 10.5" wide and is in excellent condition. There are no cracks or repairs, and only 3 very small chips. The largest is about 3/8" and is on the rim. There is also a very small chip on the right handle, and another tiny chip to the rim. The interior glaze of the crock is perfect and remarkably clean. This crock was freshly picked from an attic in an old Andover, Massachusetts estate. A.B. Wheeler& Co. was active from about 1860-1890 and I would estimate this crock to date from ... morearound 1880. This is a beautiful crock and would make a wonderful addition to any stoneware collection. Good luck and thanks for bidding. Please see my other auctions. Powered by The free listing tool. Antique Butter Churn Stoneware 6 gallon Catawba NC Two Style Handle Rare 18'5"
Up for auction is this rare and complete Catawba Valley butter churn in excellent condition. It is the largest size made and few still exist so its quite a fine piece of history. Catawba pottery is famous for the alkaline stoneware made from the river valley of western North Carolina. Has number 6 imbedded below handle and comes with churn lid and wooden dasher. This also tells me with the style and location of the number that it is a Reinhardt piece. Another tell tale sign its a Reinhardt is the ribbing or rings that you can see and feel going around the base of churn. I captured that in the 6th picture on the inside. I couldnt get a good picture of the ribbing on the outside but it is noticable and adds more character. The handles are of two styles. One of a pig ear or lug. The other is a large loop handle. This style of churn handle was ... moredeveloped to make carrying such a large churn easier. The bottom of lid has a one inch chip/crack that was done prior to glaze and firing so its a mfg default. Its the way it was made, not at all noticable(I felt it before I saw it) but please see picture for reference. The small crack/chip is filled with glaze and is nice and smooth. Measures 18.5" tall with lid on. Top rim measures almost 10" across. Bottom measures 10.25" across. The middle is a bit wider than both top and bottom but difficult to get accurate dimention. Handle to handle is 13" I took pictures outdoors. Just want to be sure you get to see accurate pictures and colors. Also the 41" dash has a crack in the bottom portion of the wood handle. Would not be seen when inside churn. Churn alone weighs 26lbs. It will be shipped carefully with foam ect and have listed it at 30lbs for packing/box weight. The dash will have to be shipped separate and would be around $15.00 extra. I will refund any shipping costs over my cost for materials. I get boxes free, but nothing else. Any other questions please email.

Rare Unusual 19th C Antique COLBURN Pottery Stoneware Crock Patent 1861 1875
Very Rare Interesting COLBURN Pottery Crock Spittoon Patent Issued 1861 Re-Issued 1875 I recently found this odd and uniquely designed Antique Pottery Crock or Spittoon stored away in the basement of an old Boston. MA Estate. It measures approximately 6 1/4" high and has an 8 7/8" diameter across the top. As you can see in the photos. This is a very uniquely designed piece. I'm not sure exactly what its intended use was.my best guess is that it was a spittoon or a unique invention for a flower planter. I've been unable to find another example of this piece or anything resembling it. It's shaped much like your typical crock. But the top is not completely open. As seen in the photos, it concaves inward and has five circular openings. The bottom edge has a scalloped design which also differs from your typical antique crock ... moreor spittoon. stamped into the side of the piece is COLBURN'S PATENT ISSUED 1861. RE-ISSUED 1875. The condition is excellent with just one small shallow chip on the lip. I welcome any feedback from those more knowledgeable about 19th Century Pottery. If not a One-Of-A-Kind piece. My guess would be there are very few examples remaining of this COLBURN pottery piece. Please view the photos provided and feel free to contact me with any questions as this will be a No Returns auction. Sale is Final. I take my 100% positive feedback rating very seriously.please bid with confidence. You must be a U.S. Bidder with a Confirmed Paypal shipping address. No International shipping. Your COLBURN Pottery piece will ship very well protected and Fully Insured via UPS GROUND shipping. Good Luck!

Crock measures approx. 9"H x 9"across(not including lid) Has a penquin painted on front sitting on top of ice blocks. Shows signs of wear from age. Initially, this pottery manufacturer ran into difficulty because he was unable to temper the clay so it would not crack during the curing/drying process. The company later discovered the construction of the kiln created the cracks in the clay or mud. In 1918, the plant closed for three years while the new kiln was rebuilt. Only three pottery plants exist in the USA and most of the high quality clay still comes from south Pittsburg today. This rare. Six-gallon crock is heavy-duty, salt glazed stoneware. This very early Diamond Brand crock has cracks on its bottom due to the condition of the clay and the faulty kiln used when it was fired.
