ANTIQUE ROYCROFT ART POTTERY LITTLE BROWN JUG ARTS CRAFTS OVOID STONEWARE CROCK!
I am selling my highly collectible ANTIQUE early's ROYCROFT SHOPS ARTS& CRAFTS ART POTTERY" LITTLE BROWN JUG" As I need to downsize some of my pottery collections. This darling"Little Brown Jug" stands 5" tall X 4" at the widest point of the jug body. The spout sits 7/8" above the body and the handle is large enough to put a fat finger through. The handle sits 1 1/4" out to the side. This little jug is heavy art pottery stoneware in the traditional Arts& Crafts manner with the typical satin matte glaze. The glaze is a rich coffee brown and there are several decorative"rings" under the glaze at the widest point in the body(see photos) This was made by the Roycroft Shops out of Aurora NY in the early 1900's. The jug is marked on the unglazed underside with the Roycroft" ... moreR" in a circle below the stylized cross. The impression of the stamp is not deep. But legible. The jug is in very good antique condition, it is almost 100 years old! There are no cracks, chips or repairs however the rich brown glaze does have a few little"glaze pops" here and there in the glaze only, not the clay. There are three small glaze pops that are the size of a large pin head and another a bit larger, about 1/8" in diameter. Most of these are in one area so the jug will display nicely. They are old glaze pops that are often found on art pottery, as this is the nature of the glaze. This is not considered damage as these"pops" usually occurred during firing and manufacture. The glazes are never smooth and there are usually little lumps and bumps under the glaze. These pops are tiny and well documented in my pictures. Roycroft shops art pottery is highly collectible and this is a nice size. This would look perfect with your other primitives. Mission setting or for display with dried straw flowers. I have a lot of Mission furniture and this is a nice accent piece. This is a thick, heavy little jug, thus the shipping cost. This is a great price as

A 6 1/2" tall antique pottery Ye Olden Time figural jug of a liquor bottle in a wi cker cover with a n old clay to bacco pip e leaning on the top side of it. This jug is a true antique. It was hand-made in a mold and dates back to the late 1800's. Jug reads: YE/ OLDEN/ TIME" Condition: Jug is in nice clean condition. On close inspection. The tip of the pipe is broken off and there is a small nick in the side of the lip. Otherwise jug has NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. Age: An antique hand-molded crock. Ca. late 1800's. WHAT A CROCK OF. Gooseberry Preserves. Lemon Curd, or perhaps Clotted Cream, Dear Collectors, this is a genuine 19th c antique English lustre glazed Preserve Stoneware Crock Jar peculiar to those made across the big pond for food preservation of yesteryear in the British Isles. Every respectable farmstead would sport several in the kitchen and buttery/pantry for daily use and storage of preserved foodstuffs well before the days of modern refrigeration made these charming sturdy stoneware vessels outmoded and relegated to collector status. Quite similar to American Albany slip brown glaze. The exterior of crock is covered lavishly in pearl brown lustre wash glaze giving it a soft lustre reflective pearl shine with life that dances off the surface at all angles. It features twin lug handles at upper side to aid gripping crock during cooking ... morewith a decorative stamped incised single beaded ring running around the upper middle kissing lower handle extensions. It has a most gentle chamfered base bevel, then the bottom is simply unglazed stoneware clay patina. A thick well formed rim likely once had a lid no longer present, but no matter, clean sage gray green glazed interior is happy to hold your wooden spoons and kitchen utensils in period style. Overall it has a tall, slight flared upright shape like a fine pail with great dignity and usefulness to industrious housekeeper.remember Mrs. Bridges from Upstairs, Downstairs? Hudson would approve and no doubt Downton Abbey has a few on display as well. It stands 6.25" tall and 5.75" across open top. I would guestimate, holds about a quart liquid capacity overall. It is in sound fine condition with no damage, no chips, no hairlines. nothing beyond the the usual firing scratch in the making or tiny rough clay blob on rim glazed over. I know this is English having travelled to the UK buying fields myself seeing these on offer occasionally, and this lovely example was deacessioned last week from a retired English Dealer in Gettysburg, PA who purchased it

F or your consideration is a Red Wing crock. Pre 1915, which is this one is clearly before the handle patent. These big wing crocks are getting tougher to acquire. This one is crack and damage repair free, but does show some bottom edge chippers in pics# 10& 12. Number 11 shows a factory clay dimple. Always allow for stoneware glaze skips. And glaze runs which are possible. This one does have a noticeable skip by the"5" Piece rings very well. The block letters are unique also as this changed shortly after this period also. Antique? Alabama Brown Glaze Stoneware Crock Jug Pottery Whiskey Moonshine
Antique? Alabama Brown Glaze Stoneware Crock Jug Pottery Antique? brown jug with handle. Crock pottery whiskey Measures 8 inches tall. 6-1/2 inches wide; 20" around. There are several"imperfections" in the glaze and surface of the jug. There are some"scratches" which might be a signature which you can see in the 2nd picture, near the bottom, about the middle. The cork is inside the jug; it is falling apart. The cork fell inside the jug when I tried to remove it to see what might be inside. There is chip out of the bottom edge- see picture 11. Next to last picture. Weight is 4 pounds and 1 ounce. Background on this jug- This jug belonged to my stepfather who passed away several years ago. He was born in 1914. He was making and selling moonshine at the age of 10- for a nickel a bottle(if I remember correctly what he ... moretold me) He was plowing a 40-acre field at the age of 11- with a team of mules. I don't know when or where he acquired this jug. It sat on his front porch for years. You can look at the pictures and make your own judgment about the age. He lived in the Sand Mountain area for a while in his youth so he could have gotten it there.

I don't know much about this beautiful little jug it has a cork top with it looks like wax on top. This is in excellent condition; there are no maker's marks. Measures slightly over 3" The first picture is the true color of this piece. I found it with another small jug which I will be listing along with a small salt pottery pitcher. more pictures below description* This large pot is a bit of a mystery. I believe it is oriental or middle eastern. It has a Naga, serpent or dragon on it. It is 16" tall, 17" across top and 11.25" across the bottom. It weighs 37 pounds- it's big& heavy! There are indications that say this might be handmade, like how the glaze does not entirely cover all areas, especially on the outside near the bottom and some other glaze flaws. Also, the brown drip marks present around the outside top. There are many abrasions and marks but still displays well. I'm not sure of it's age or origin or exactly what it's made of-its like a stoneware material. Could be used as a place for your canes and umbrellas, flower pot, etc. Selling as is. GREAT ITEM. Vintage 3 gallon crock. It has no makers name on it. It has the number 3 on it. Nice heavy duty crock. It in in decent shape with a few nicks here and there. Also. Please note the one crack shown in the pictures. The crack goes from top to about 3/4's the way down. To protect the structural integrity of the crock. I did add a little bit off Gorilla Glue in the crack with a very fine needle. After drying, I cleaned it up and it looks as it did before gluing. Vintage 1920's/1930's or earlier large jug crock. It measures 12" tall and 6 1/2" outside diameter at base. The capacity looks like 1- 1 1/2 gallons. It is a heavy thick wall salt glaze glazed stoneware stone ware pottery jug with a cup style side handle near the top. The crock is in very good condition. It is glazed brown on the top half and tan on the bottom half with great crazing. The exterior bottom is unglazed. There is a remnants of a cork left. The crock displays beautifully and shows normal use wear as pictured. This is a very well made heavy. Thick walled jug. It is sold as is. $18.00 postage.
