Nice luster, looks different in every kind of light. Glaze is nicely variegated- study photos to get the feel and look of this relatively heavy piece(for its size) Does not appear to be missing a lid- the way the opening was made, I do not believe this ever had a lid, at least not a ceramic one that would have been incorporated into the clay design when the piece was hand thrown. Looks like this crock could originate from the Catawba Valley Pottery, but just my opinion. Glaze& form reminds me a little bit of Pewabic Pottery pieces, but not iridescent. Not much wear given its age- glaze has rubbed off in a few small spots around the rim(see photo) but no serious chips or cracks. Bottom is unmarked. All sales are final- no returns. 1990-1994, 5 Stoneware Cheese Crocks, Graphics and Year
Here are 5 Holiday Cheese Crocks. 1990. 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 Beautiful brown crocks with bails. I have included the rubber gaskets for 3. But most are dried out and should be replaced. Each one has a different holiday picture and is dated on the front. 1990 crock has a small chip on lower outside edge of lid. Crock 1991 has a very small chip on inside edge of lid. 1994 has a smudge in the white transfer picture. 3 have glazed bottoms. 2 unglazed bottoms. Colors vary slightly. I believe these crocks were from Figis as they currently make dated holiday crocks. But the company could not verify these designs. Here are 2 vintage brown glazed butter or cheese crocks The first one the left does not have a lid or bale. But there are factory depressions for the bale to attach. There is a small chip on the bottom edge. It is 3 1/2" tall x 4 1/2" wide. No marks. The one on the right has the lid. Gasket and bale and is in working order. It has few minor glaze flakes on the bottom edge and inside the rim. It is about 5 1/2" tall including the bale x 3 1/2" wide. It is stamped on the bottom in purple-20822 $F139. The top of the jug is 8 1/2" in circumference and 2 3/4"wide. The handle is in pretty good condition although it does have a 1" chip out of it. It is marked: A.K. Ballard. Burlington, VT, 2" Here is a list of the issues: It has 5 chips on the spout. One is 1 3/4" long and the second one is 1"long. The others are 1/4" long or less. There is also a chip on the handle that measures 1/2" wide. It has a beautiful cobalt design and overall it is in pretty good condition for it's age. There are several places where the glazing has flaked off around the middle/bottom, exposing the pottery underneath. I would say ... morethe condition is good but it does have spotting, staining and chipping. There is a surface crack in the glaze that is 6" long and there are about 4 rust stains. Set of 3 Vintage/Antique Brown Stoneware Cheese and Pickle Crocks
This is a set of 3 old crocks. Two of which have the lids and wire and the one in the center of the photo is missing the lid and wire. All are in great shape but have some light surface chipping on the bottom edge- nothing major at all. Photo 4 shows one of the cheese crocks having a tiny surface nick in the outer rim. The crocks on each side are the cheese crocks and measure 4" tall without the lids. The center pickle crock has the holes in the side for the wire but as stated, it is missing the lid and wire. It measures 3 3/4" tall and has a 4 1/4" base. There are no rings with either. Great for use or just a primitive display! Up for sale are these unusual. Rare, vintage stoneware Crocks or feeding dishes. Unknown maker. They are 2 1/2" high. 7" in diameter. They have an unusual 1" lip. In good antique or vintage condition with no chips. Or breaks. There is a spider crack on each crock/dish on the inside bottom and they do not appear to go through to the outside.There is a spider crack on one of them that goes down the side and about an inch along the bottom. And it does go through to the outside. I put water in it to see if it would leak. It does have a slow leak. So if you were to plan on purchasing them for a dog or cats dish, that one would be good to put it's dry food in that one. And water in the other one. That one does not leak.The lip would deter spillage. Check the photos. I pictured the crocks on all sides. Makes a nice pair of crocks/dishes ... morefor your collection. Vintage Lot of 8 Cheese/Butter Crocks 5 of them are brown. 1 is a tan/beige color and the other is a light orange color The small tan/beige color is a Watkins crock. It is about 3"diameter x 3"H. The orange color crock is the same size. Both of these have the seal/ring. The metal wire snap top on the orange crock is rusted a little. The 3 medium sized crocks are about 3 1/4"diameter x 4 1/4"H. One has a rubber ring/seal. The other two do not. One of them also has a House of Cheese Sticker on the front which is partially worn off. The metal snap top wire on top has some of the silver color worn off. The 3 largest crocks are 4"diameter x 4 1/4"H. Two of them have the rubber ring/seal. The other crock does not. One of these is marked China on the bottom. There is a number on the bottom of another. The small one with 3 stars has a tiny Chip but it is NOT noticeable and can barely be felt. The largest one is 7 inches tall and approximately 18 1/2 inches around at the largest area. Three cobalt stripes. The second one is 5 inches tall and 14 inches around with one large cobalt stripe. The third is adorned with 3 cobalt Stars and Stripes on each side and stands 3 inches tall and 15 inches around. These are beautiful decorative pieces and a must have for the collector. Keiller& Son's Dundee Orange Marmalade Crock Jar 1862 This auction is for an antique James Keiller& Son's orange marmalade stoneware crock with cork. I don't know if the cork is original but it seems to fit well. The cork has a waxy surface on the bottom side. The jar reads: Grand Medal of Merit Vienna 1873. James Keiller& Son's Dundee Orange Marmalade, Only Prize Medal for Marmalade, London. 1862 Great Britain Contents 1 lb. Nett. It possibly dates to around 1890. As you can see in the photo t is an errant blob of ink below the word Britain. The crock has overall crazing. Some darkened areas and a crack on the back side near the rim. It measures a bit over 4.5" high and is 3" in diameter. 3 Vintage Stoneware BUTTER CROCKS Blue, Brown, Plain
These HEAVY old butter crocks are in wonderful condition- the brown and the blue one have no chips or cracks. The plain colored one looks a little older and a little rougher. And has a 2" line that looks like a crack, but only on the inside, under the glaze. All three are 5 1/2" in diameter and 3 3/4" tall. No visible markings on the bottom, but the blue one still shows traces of markings from a long time ago(see picture) They all have the same shape and will look beautiful on display in a country kitchen.

TWO VINTAGE~ANTIQUE UNMARKED CREAM CROCKS- 1 Quart Ivory and 1 1/2 Quart Brown& Ivory These crocks have been in the family for for over 70 years. They were used on the farm to collect the cream that was separated from the milk after the cows were milked. My dad is 80 and he tells me that the brown and cream one was used for guernsey cow milk because they give more cream and the cream colored one was used for holsteins. The BROWN and CREAM colored crock is 1 and 1/2 QUARTS. It is about 4 1/2 inches wide and 5 inches tall. The IVORY CROCK is 1 Quart. It is about 4 inches wide and 4 inches tall. The Ivory crock is a bit thicker than the brown and cream one. Both show no cracks or chips. General wear and tear from use. Four Vintage Weir Brown Crocks
Here are four vintage Weir brown crocks for sale. All of these crocks have a Ferndell Brand label for either mincemeat or peach jam. I'm sure the labels could be removed. But I left them alone, as I think they add to the charm of the crocks. 1.The tallest crock is 11 in. tall with a circumference of 22 in. It's label says"Ferndell Brand Wet Mincemeat. S.W. and Co. No. 10 Stone, Net Wt. 9" 10 oz. 2.The next tallest crock is 9 1/2 inches tall with a circumference of 16 1/2 inches. This one also has a Ferndell Mince Meat label. 3.The next crock is 7 1/2 inches tall with a circumference of 13 inches. The lid has a very small chipped piece that appears to have been glued back on. The label on this one says"Peach Jam. Ferndell Brand Jam, Dist. by Sprague, Warner& Co. Chicago, IL, USA. 4. This crock is 7 1/2 inches tall ... moreand has a circumference of 16 1/2 inches. This crock does not have a lid with it. The first three crocks all have the Weir lid. The first two crocks have lids that read. The Weir Pat. Mar. 1st'92, April 16, 1901, NO. 2 The third crock has the writing on the lid. But the writing has worn smooth enough that it is hard to read it. The fourth crock does not have a lid. All of the crocks have some wear as you would expect with their age. The only one that I see an obvious chip on is the one with the Peach Jam label. It is very small and appears to have been glued on. But obviously. All of the crocks do have wear. Please look at all the pictures carefully. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I plan to mail these crocks in two separate boxes. It just seemed easier to pack them carefully this way. I will send two in each box and they have been very carefully wrapped to prevent damage during shipping. I plan to ship them via standard post to try to keep the costs down.
