Ag, dry goods, metals, timber and people came to and from Stockton by ship and boat via the San Joaquin Delta system from the San Francisco Bay in the 1800's. So it is certainly likely this piece could have made a long journey before arriving in Stockton. There were artisans in Stockton during the 1800's producing earthenware and glass goods. A good example of early pottery from these area may be found by seaching for"Stockton Art Pottery" online. We are listing today for your consideration a lovely Antique 19th Century Pennsylvania Stoneware Saltglazed Cobalt Blue Striper Design 1 Gallon Crock. This crock is in Excellent Condition with1 very minor surface crack that starts at the outside of the top rim and goes down the front to the 1st blue stripe. This could possibly have happened during the making of this crock. There are no chips. No other cracks, and or repairs. There is as well areas on the bottom and the base where the glaze was completely missed, showing the red clay. 2 gal Louisville Stoneware Crock Indian Chief Stars
I am selling this Indian Chief Stars Crock that i got from my GrandMother. I believe it was made by Louisville Pottery Company/ Louisville Stoneware. She lived in Louisville. Ky. It has a number 2 on the bottom of the crock. I think this is indicating that the size is 2 gallons. I know it is more than 2 quarts. The pictures show the measurements and condition which I think are good for its age and use. Also It looks to me like it is made out of clay. Also it weighs about 10 lbs.

This one is crack and damage repair free, but does show some bottom edge chippers in pics# 10& 12. Number 11 shows a factory clay dimple. Always allow for stoneware glaze skips. And glaze runs which are possible. This one does have a noticeable skip by the"5" Piece rings very well. The block letters are unique also as this changed shortly after this period also. Antique Hamilton & Jones Greensboro Pa 1 gal Crock Stoneware Decorated 19thC VTG
Up for auction is this 1 gallon stoneware crock made by Hamilton& Jones Greensboro Pennsylvania in the mid to late 1800s. It is a putty color stoneware with a clean rich color inside. It is 9 1/2 inches tall. 5 3/4 inches across the top and 6 1/4 inches across the bottom. There is a slight hairline that starts at the rim and is hard to see, starts at top and is 2 1/2 inches long and is inside also. The other is what appears to be a glaze stress line on the back of the crock. As I have tried to show you in last two pics, this hairline or stress fracture starts 2- 3 inches from the top and spiders down like a lightening bolt, as you can see in last two photos, it is not inside the crock. It does reach to approx 2 inches from the bottom of the crock near where there is a chunk chip out of the bottom. Overall this crock is a great piece. ... moreThese imperfections are not noticable. I didn't even see what Im calling a stress fracture to the glaze until just now. I list all imperfections because I want you to know what you are getting. This is a lovely Antique Early 20th Century 2-Gallon CROWN“Cobalt Blue” Banded in Mint Condition. The crock has no lid or spigot. The crock is clearly marked with the CROWN logo and 2 Gallon size number in the same Cobalt Blue as the band at its center. The Crock is in Mint Condition with no breaks. Chips, cracks or crazing- not even a hairline or nick. It is absolutely pristine. I have never seen another crock with this many decorative“Cobalt Blue” bands. There are 6 of them encircling the crock, each 1/2” wide, 1 at the top, 1 at the bottom and 2 sets 2 on each side of the center. The crock measures 7-1/2” across the top, curving outward to 9” across its bulbous center and narrowing to 8” across the base and stands 11-3/4” high. The stoneware is 1/2” thick. This crock was mistakenly double stamp in manufacturing and could very possibly be the only one of its kind? Elaborately Decorated 3 Gal. Remmey Baltimore, MD Stoneware Crock Jar Pot
Up for your consideration is a scarce 3 gallon Remmey pot made while potting in Baltimore. MD. This piece is probably around 1840.I'm saying Baltimore because he used the same decoration on a few water coolers at the time and the collar and heavy lug handles look more Baltimore than Philadelphia, PA but it could go either way. Some experts could probably tell one from the other. The crock is decorated with large vertical floral designs front and back with cobalt brush work to the handles ends and hanging flowers below the lugs. It is 13 1/4" tall.9" on the top.6 1/2" on the bold footed base and 34" around the ovoid middle. There is a flake off the rim and a tight spider hairline coming up the the base 3 1/2" The crock is a sound as from the kiln. For your consideration is a five gallon crock that was made by Red Wing Union Stoneware Company of Red Wing. Minnesota. On this crock the 4" wing and the 5 are very bold. The oval is 2 1/4" wide and has standard wording and decoration. This oval and wing combination of wing and oval was used from around 1917 to 1933. This crock was made without handles. This crock is slightly over 13" tall and the bottom is almost 12" in diameter. This crock does have rust stains on the interior's bottom. Approximately 120 degrees from the front is a crack. This crack starts at the top rim and runs vertically for approximately 7 1/2" Approximately 160 degrees from the front is a barely perceptible chip. Crock is in VG condition with no chips. Cracks or hairlines, just the normal small surface flaws from the firing like bubbles and a small flake here and there and such but I'm being picky here, it's in great condition. Actually if you look close I don't think it was ever used just put away in a dry kitchen cubbard all these years. The crock not including the lid measures 8 3/4" H x 9" W and has"1 1/2" on the side(see 3rd pics) The lid measures 8 3/8" W and has the#1 on it(see 2nd set of pics) It's a neat find and will make an excellent addition to your collection. 1 Gal. Crock w/ Tie Ring & Vents Made by Western Stoneware of Monmouth, Illinois
For your consideration is a one gallon crock made by Western Stoneware of Monmouth. Illinois. When this crock was manufactured, a tie ring and five vents were included. The tie ring is the extra ring around the top; this is so a piece of cloth can be placed over the top and hehd in place by a string in this groove. The vents are the five indentations on the bottom that allow the hot air and gases in the kiln to circulate during firing. The height is almost 8" and the bottom has a diameter of 7 1/4" This crock has minor chips and major cracks. Please examine the pictures carefully.

Cobalt Blue Floral Design- Measures approx. 13 1/2 inches diameter at top and 13 1/4 inches bottom. Height is 12 1/2 inches and weight is approx. 20 lbs. Note hairline crack through O in CO. and running semi-vertically down. Ending on side and not extending to the base; pitting is present upon the sides and the handles feature areas of wear and additional loss of salt glaze; two chips missing from rim, one 1/2 an inch and shallow, the other 5/8 an inch and 1/2 inch wide; on the inside near the top of the rim is a 1/8 inch wide by 5/8 inch horizontal abrasion and nearby a similar abrasion of 1/4 inch; between them a minor chip of 1/8 inch on the rim.
