Antique New York Stoneware Blue Flower Salt Glazed 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock
Up for auction is an Antique New York Stoneware Deep Blue Flower Design 4 Gallon Crock. The New York Stoneware Co and the number 4 is impressed. The flower design is a very dark cobalt blue. Each side has an applied elephant ear handle. Circa: 1859- 1885. Fort Edward. NY) Measurements: 11 1/4" tall. 11 1/2" in diameter at the top. Base 11" in diameter. Floral decoration is about 5" wide X 6" tall. The blue floral decoration has dots and circles. Condition: This crock is being sold AS IS. This is a solid crock but it has issues. Large Blue decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color but has a chip at the top branch. Shown in picture 2. There is a large chip at the rim above the ear handle, picture 8. The same ear handle has a chip underneath the handle, shown in the same picture. On the outside, there is a spider ... morehairline that starts on the bottom and runs up the side, see close-up picture in picture 5, 10& 11. I would not trust this crock to hold water. There is one small chip in the dark brown glaze on the inside, last picture. Picture 5 shows a raised dark spot on the outside which appears to be from the manufacturing process. See all pictures. The large blue flower decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color. This collectible crock is great to use in a decorative decor. Please check out my other auctions for more vintage items.
Antique Stoneware, Salt-Glazed Brown Crock, Catawba Valley, Carolina Primitive
Exceptional quality. Small alkaline or salt glazed, primitive antique crock. 6 1/4 inches high, about 3 inch top diameter, about 4 1/4 inch bottom diameter. Looks to be just under 5 inches around(diameter) in the middle. Nice luster, looks different in every kind of light. Glaze is nicely variegated- study photos to get the feel and look of this relatively heavy piece(for its size) Does not appear to be missing a lid- the way the opening was made, I do not believe this ever had a lid, at least not a ceramic one that would have been incorporated into the clay design when the piece was hand thrown. Looks like this crock could originate from the Catawba Valley Pottery, but just my opinion. Glaze& form reminds me a little bit of Pewabic Pottery pieces, but not iridescent. Not much wear given its age- glaze has rubbed off in a few small spots ... morearound the rim(see photo) but no serious chips or cracks. Bottom is unmarked. All sales are final- no returns. Please ask questions before bidding. Shipping to Lower 48 States only. No international sales. Payment due within 3 days of auction end. If you have a feedback score of 10 or less, you must contact me before bidding. In"as found" condition- this item is vintage, and not new. Photos are as important as my written description. Please review all the photos carefully, including at close-up magnification.
Antique Lord Stoutenburg & Co. Chicago Illinois Stoneware Salt Glazed Crock IL
This is an Antique Lord Stoutenburg& Co. Chicago Stoneware Crock. This is a cool old crock and it really shows it's age. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find any information on this company. I did find a bunch of Stoutenburg genealogy information but nothing that led to this business. There are a couple of hairline cracks and one major repair to this crock so please inspect the pictures very carefully. It has a couple of minor chips out of the top lip. It is quite obvious this crock will not hold liquids and cannot be used for canning or sauerkraut but for a collector, it would be a great find as I have yet to see another like it. Antique/Vintage Brown & White Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock/Jar-1 Gallon-FREE SHIP
Hello& Welcome, Here's a fantastic old stoneware crock that's still in great condition. It holds one gallon filled to its brim and measures approximately 9 3/4" high. 6 1/4" wide at the bottom& 5 1/2" wide at the top. The opening is 4" wide and it has a tapered neck. The glazing on this crock is in beautiful condition, inside and out. The crock has no markings on it but I suspect it was made locally as S.E. Ohio was/is well known for its good clay soils for producing pottery, ceramics& glass. Within one half hour of where I live is where the homes of such companies as Roseville Pottery, Hull Pottery, Hall Pottery, Anchor-Hocking Glass, Hocking Glass, Fenton, McCoy Pottery, etc. were located. This old crock, though it is missing its lid(like many) is in very, very good condition with no cracks, nicks, ... moreetc. and would make a great addition to any collection. Should you have any questions, please ask. Thank you for stopping by and please visit my store for much more pottery, glass& many other finer things when you get time. PS-I gladly ship internationally but please contact me first before bidding/purchasing for an accurate shipping cost as it may be lower. Or higher than what's listed. The buyer's also responsible for any import fees/duties/etc. should there be any. Thank you for your understanding& cooperation.

Hails from 1900-1920s sometime. No real damage anywhere that I can see. Beyond age and minor wear. Has some crazing, not unusual on a piece this old. 12 1/2" tall x 7 1/4" in diameter. Antique Salt Glazed Crock-Brown & White-c. 1800's-Roseville, Ohio-FREE SHIPPING
Hello& Welcome, Here's a beautiful. Old salt glazed crock from the late 1800's that's in great condition. I've taken photo's of every side of this two-toned brown& white crock to show how nice of condition it's in. Though there's no markings on this crock it's very likely it's from the Roseville-Zanesville, Ohio area as I only live about 30 miles from there. And, the antique auction I acquired this& several other nice, old crocks from was even closer. This crock measures approximately 7 1/2" high by 8" wide at its flared lip. The actual mouth opening is approximately 6 5/8" It's not a straight walled crock and tappers narrow near the bottom, with the bottom measuring 5 1/2" across. For being over 100+ years old this is a beautiful piece of pottery. This would be ideal ... morefor someone's kitchen to store larger utensils in, or used as a planter, or however you'd like to use it. Thank you. Antique German Stoneware Salt Glazed Mustard Pot 19th-20th Century Crock
This is a late 19th- early 20th century salt glazed mustard pot made in Germany. Bears the Matthias Girmscheid mark on the bottom. Looks like a mini stein but the pewter lid has a small cutout for a spoon to protrude and there is no capacity mark as you would see on a stein. Stands 4" high to the top of the lid. 4 5/8" to the top of the thumblift) and 3" wide including the handle. I've included a picture of it next a can of soda for size reference. Bears three cartouches featuring a cross. An anchor and a heart, a common symbology in Victorian times. The cross represents faith. The heart charity and the anchor hope- the safe ground that we all need. Please ask all questions before bidding. All my items come from a clean. Pet and smoke free home.

Antique Primitive Salt Glazed Crock Dark Clay Redware? Stoneware
This is an Antique crock in good condition. Good primitive condition and glaze. The base clay is a dark color, perhaps Redware, but I'm no expert. Antique Brown Salt Glazed Beehive Crock- Canning Crock - Faded Folk Art Painting
Offered for Auction: Old Brown Beehive Shaped Salt Glazed Crock with Faded Folk Art Painting. The crock was probably used for food storage or canning and the painting on the side appears to be a floral arrangement of perhaps dandelions or thistles but it's all but faded with just an outline in teal/green and a little yellow. The crock has seen better days and is being sold as is. I have not cleaned it and I do not know if it will hold liquid. I am uncertain of its age or origin as it is unmarked. Condition: Poor to Fair given its age and use. The crock has surface spalling. Scratches, glaze loss and dings, nicks and chips and there is a chip/void on the edge of the rim. The painted floral design has faded leaving an outline of teal/green colored paint and very light yellow. There are spots of glaze and other discoloration on the bottom ... moreas shown. The interior is dirty and I have not cleaned the crock. The crock measures 8 1/2" H x 5 1/2" W and the opening is about 2" in diameter(inside measurement) and it weighs 2 lbs 15 oz A nice primitive addition to anyone's decor Payment Method: PayPal Please Shipping: USPS Priority or Express I will combine postage with other items if they are small and lightweight and fit easily into the same box Please ask any questions prior to bidding or if you'd like to see additional photos. PRIMITIVE ANTIQUE~1881 WEIR #4 BALETOP SALT GLAZED STONEWARE CANNING JAR w/LID
Wonderful early 1800s WEIR#4 1 gallon antique stoneware crock features a patented iron bale and stoneware lid. This heavy stoneware"jar" was used for canned foods. Likely put away on some rural farm, and probably in the root cellar. Romantic notions aside, these jars, full of preserved goods, were essential for survival during the winter months for a 19th century farm family. Glazed in a putty color, this jar's finish crazed so long ago, that it looks like a Raku pottery piece, for a lovely effect. The wire bail is rusty, and there are factory flaws and a couple of"owwies" but nothing serious. The number 154 is impressed into the bottom. The lid reads(as best I can tell) THE WEIR, PAT'D APRIL 18TH 1881, and then more that I cannot make out at all. A great old piece! In remarkable shape for its age and usage; there ... moreare a number of very small chips on the lip of the jar. As well as several factory flaws and glaze misses. The only real damage is a spot that looks like an hard-boiled eggshell when it gets hit; it dents and the shell cracks, but doesn't break. See photos. No damage anywhere that I can see. Except for what I already described. 9 3/4" tall x 8 3/4" in diameter. PLEASE ALSO VISIT MY SISTER STORE. CROSS CREEK MARKET! I am always happy to combine shipping to save buyers money. Here is the history of the company: Coates comes up from Somerset. Where the cider apples grow. Its more than 75 years since the famous Coates cider was first made in the village of Nailsea near Bristol- and a quarter of a century since of a century since production ended. For people living outside the West Country Coates cider meant cartoon yokels announcing in rich Wurzel accents that Coates comes up from Zummerset, where the zider apples grow in a TV commercial. It was an inspired marketing move, especially as the jingle was based on the popular We Come Up from Somerset by the great Portishead songwriter Fred Wetherley Coates did indeed come up from Somerset and it was Redvers Coate, ... morethe company founder who did as much as anyone to move Somerset cider from the fields and into the cities. By the end of the Great War, cider was in decline. In 1887, Parliament had banned the traditional practice of paying farmworkers in cider( two quarts a day) and the growth in French wine drinking was hitting sales hard. Coate, a graduate of Bristol University was looking for a job in 1924, a time when Gloucester, Devon and Herefordshire ciders were being nationally marketed but Somerset products were scarcely known outside the county. He knew little about cider making so worked unpaid for a year at the Long Ashton Cider Research Institute before borrowing enough from family, and friends to open a cider works at Nailsea. He was just 23 years of age. The staff comprised Coate, foreman Charlie Higgins from Williams Cider, Backwell; Cooper Sid Summers, cellar man Jack AlIsop, clerk( and later company secretary) Frank Matthews, Bill Baker and a man called Iles. Redvers Coate had installed the most up to date equipment in his one shed, including three glass lined vats holding 10,000 gallons each. The expensive gamble paid off at the end of the first year, Coate's cider to

Antique Cobalt Blue Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock Bowl-Banded-Wedding Ring-7 1/4"
Antique Cobalt Blue Salt Glazed Stoneware Crock Bowl-Banded-Wedding Ring-7 1/4" Prev Stop Play Next This is a nice antique cobalt blue salt glazed stoneware banded crock bowl in great condition with no chips or nicks. It has a 2" very thin surface glaze hairline coming off the rim on the inside. Several pitted spots in the clay around the outside of the bowl, which probably originated when the bowl was originally fired, some glaze nicks and some original glaze flaws. The bowl is a bit dingy and the inside is stained and yellowed from age and use, which only adds character to the piece and is the reason I love old pieces like this! Measures approx: 7 1/4" across, 3 1/2" tall and is not marked. Wonderful old crock bowl for the collector! Paypal Texas Residents will pay 6.25% sales tax. PRIM ANTIQUE~Nice 2-GAL. SALT-GLAZED STONEWARE MOONSHINE JUG w/Applied Handle
This heavy. 2-gallon antique salt-glazed"Beehive" shape stoneware jug is a beauty! I'm not sure what was in it originally, but I'd guess hard liquor or moonshine. It has a lovely dark tan-colored salt glaze finish, with a hand-applied handle. The surface has a wonderful patina, and the inside has a dark brown glaze. There are 3 old chips on the mouth, that are old enough to beautifully blend into the color of the salt glaze, a few stray black marks, and no other damage that I can find. A very unique piece from a bygone era! Unsure of maker. From the mid-late 1800s. I see no damage other than what I've already described. See photos. 10" tall x 8 1/2" in diameter. Including handle. Antique Salt Glazed Butter CrockWith Lid Outstanding!!!
There is no reserve on this beautiful salt glazed stoneware butter crock. Up for auction is this beautiful blue 19 th c. butter crock purchased from a recent estate sale. It is a large and substantial piece with the original lid. The top has a recessed button lid that fits securely over the rim groove on the bottom. The design on the bottom has the word”BUTTER” in relief and it is surrounded with a beaded design. Flanking the label are clusters of what look like beaded cherries or apricot designs. The ornamentation goes all the way around the bottom. The condition of this piece is pretty amazing. Especially given the age and that was a utilitarian object. The snap-in bale handle is missing and there is a tiny hairline on the inside about ½” down from the rim. It does not go through and is hardly noticeable. There are some small“pops” ... moreand some minor glaze misses. But we think you will agree that it is in very good condition. We will pack carefully box in a box to insure safe delivery. The measurements are: 7” in diameter x 4” tall. We only accept PayPal as payment. We will ship according to the shipping calculator. Thank you for your interest.

Antique BLUE & WHITE Salt Glazed Stoneware Butter Crock Early 1900s UHL Pottery
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Antique BLUE& WHITE Salt Glazed Stoneware Butter Crock Early 1900s Possibly UHL Pottery This very nice antique salt glazed stoneware butter crock features a divided blue and white exterior and solid blue interior. This vintage stoneware was most likely made in the late 1800s to early 1900s when kitchenware pieces like this were a household staple. The crock measures 4" tall and just about 5 3/4" in diameter. The walls of this straight-sided round crock are 1/2" thick. The bottom and the top rim are unglazed. There is no marker’s mark to identify which pottery manufactured this stoneware crock. There were many potteries in the United States that made utilitarian salt glazed stoneware. It was not unusual. Even for the large companies, not to stamp their mark or name on all their products. ... moreCondition: All salt glazed utilitarian ware from this period was made in massive quantities. Without regard to perfection. Pieces have production imperfections(dings, fingerprints, blisters, stilt marks, stretch marks, blow outs and crawling, crazing) uneven edges and variations in glaze. Such production imperfections do not detract from the value. This crock is in excellent condition. No post-production restoration, nicks, chips, cracks, stains or crazing. The bottom interior has some color variation in the glaze(photos# 5& 6) Please look at the photos. They show ever side of the crock. This little crock is a great accent piece ready to fit in the décor of a French Provencal. Country Primitive, or Cottage Chic kitchen. It is a charming piece to add to any salt glazed stoneware or blue and white stoneware collection. It is also fully functional and can be used as a cold(butter or cheese) or hot serving piece on the table or as a working crock in the cooking area. Because it is a glazed stoneware crock. You can pour grease directly into it without damaging it. Save your bacon drippings in this crock and then use the“lard” to add flavor when cooking vegetables. Fried or
