Antique Stoneware: Fine 19thC. PA Redware Crock or Jar, Semi-Ovoid, Lead Glaze
Whether you call this a Cream Jar. Crock or Planter, one thing is for sure: this is a monumental 19thC. piece of Redware! Unmarked, but having a capacity of 4Gal. this extra-large Jar will be at home in any Antique Stoneware collection. This is a well-made piece by a highly skilled artisan; probably a Pennsylvania pottery, ca.1860 or earlier. The Semi-Ovoid form is topped with a slightly-squared lip profile. The exterior is unglazed, with age-appropriate wear and typical imperfections throughout. The Lead-Glazed interior is superb! Very reminiscent of Redware Cream Jars created by the Bell Family, with a slightly narrower lip profile. Please see photos for details and consider them as part of the description. Beautiful cobalt decorated stoneware crock. It has fabulous decoration which looks like leaves on a vine. It also looks like hearts. It is marked on the front and I believe it to say West Troy Pottery. It measures 7.5 tall and 8 inches across the top. Up for auction is an Antique New York Stoneware Deep Blue Flower Design 4 Gallon Crock. The New York Stoneware Co and the number 4 is impressed. The flower design is a very dark cobalt blue. Each side has an applied elephant ear handle. Circa: 1859- 1885. Fort Edward. NY) Measurements: 11 1/4" tall. 11 1/2" in diameter at the top. Base 11" in diameter. Floral decoration is about 5" wide X 6" tall. The blue floral decoration has dots and circles. Condition: This crock is being sold AS IS. This is a solid crock but it has issues. Large Blue decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color but has a chip at the top branch. Shown in picture 2. There is a large chip at the rim above the ear handle, picture 8. The same ear handle has a chip underneath the handle, shown in the same picture. Hand Turned Stoneware Salt Glaze Crock with a Lazy Eight over a Target Decor
For your consideration is a hand turned four gallon salt glaze crock with a hand drawn lazy eight over a target; this decor was hand drawn using the slip cup method. The"tail" of the target is very long and goes to the bottom. This crock has a single trim line; the trim line is slightly more than 3/4 of an inch below the rounded rim. This crock is approximately 12" tall and the bottom is approximately 11" in diameter. This crock has 0 cracks. However it does have a chip on the bottom, slightly left of the front center. Also, there are rough spots on each handle. On the interior, the Albany Slip glaze is missing because of air pockets expanding and bursting during firing. We can't recall seeing this very charming mark before, and can't seem to find any record of stoneware being sold with this mark, so we're guessing it's at least very scarce if not quite rare. Probably dates to the late 1800's, we're also guessing. We're also not sure, but believe this is either from Mansfield, Ohio or Mansfield, Massachusetts. We invite emails with further information that we can add to this listing. Nicely decorated with a cobalt feather like design below the cobalt washed merchant stamp. And a stamped"2" for a 2 gallon crock above it. Measures about 8 and 3/4 inches tall and 9 and ... more1/2 inches across. There is a crack that begins at the top edge left of the decoration and ends on the base as can be seen in the photos. Otherwise, it appears to be in surprisingly good shape. The only other flaws are in the making glaze pops as can be seen in the photos, one just above the g in general(with a bit of cobalt glaze over it) and then there's one on the interior and two on the back side(each about 1/4 inch across) and some minor imperfections, scratches and wear as to be expected with a utilitarian stoneware piece. Antique 1800s C&B Skey Pottery Tamworth Oyster Jar Stoneware Crock England This is an antique stoneware oyster jar made by the George Skey Pottery Tamworth. England, in the late 1800s(1870s 1880s) It is 6.75 inches tall and is pale gray on the bottom and light brown on the top. It bears the Tamworth oval mark and the C& B triangle with square mark. It is in very good condition with no overt damage. There are some black marks or residue on bottom and there is a small chip on bottom edge which appears it could have been a manufacturing defect—I mention only for completeness I do combine shipping to save you money on multiple items.

Antique Stoneware, Salt-Glazed Brown Crock, Catawba Valley, Carolina Primitive
Exceptional quality. Small alkaline or salt glazed, primitive antique crock. 6 1/4 inches high, about 3 inch top diameter, about 4 1/4 inch bottom diameter. Looks to be just under 5 inches around(diameter) in the middle. Nice luster, looks different in every kind of light. Glaze is nicely variegated- study photos to get the feel and look of this relatively heavy piece(for its size) Does not appear to be missing a lid- the way the opening was made, I do not believe this ever had a lid, at least not a ceramic one that would have been incorporated into the clay design when the piece was hand thrown. Looks like this crock could originate from the Catawba Valley Pottery, but just my opinion. Glaze& form reminds me a little bit of Pewabic Pottery pieces, but not iridescent. Not much wear given its age- glaze has rubbed off in a few small spots ... morearound the rim(see photo) but no serious chips or cracks. Bottom is unmarked. All sales are final- no returns. This is an Antique Lord Stoutenburg& Co. Chicago Stoneware Crock. This is a cool old crock and it really shows it's age. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find any information on this company. I did find a bunch of Stoutenburg genealogy information but nothing that led to this business. There are a couple of hairline cracks and one major repair to this crock so please inspect the pictures very carefully. It has a couple of minor chips out of the top lip. It is quite obvious this crock will not hold liquids and cannot be used for canning or sauerkraut but for a collector, it would be a great find as I have yet to see another like it. Up for auction today is a Vintage S to neware lid Unknown ma ker and item this goes on. But. I found it on top of a Monmouth 2 Gallon crock, and it fit, but just a bit big and d id not look right. So I am pretty sure it did not go with it-but would assume it would be for a 2 or 3 gallon stoneware crock. Measures just over 1 0.25" diameter and is 8.5" wide at t he insert that goes into the crock. That part is be veled or ang eled. I am selling this Indian Chief Stars Crock that i got from my GrandMother. I believe it was made by Louisville Pottery Company/ Louisville Stoneware. She lived in Louisville. Ky. It has a number 2 on the bottom of the crock. I think this is indicating that the size is 2 gallons. I know it is more than 2 quarts. The crock does have a good sized chip, and a smaller one, on the top outside edge, near the handle which someone painted brown(picture 3) Couple more chips on the opposite side(picture 5) There is also an imperfection that was done when the crock was made(picture 4) in the middle of the handle. It is a rough spot and the glaze is a little weird. Also, to the right of the handle in(picture 4) there is a chip in the body of the jug. There are also two other rough spots in the glaze at the base of jug on one side(picture 2) Picture#2 only shows one of the spots. Heavy crazed thick stoneware crock with"coffee" labeled on the front. The crock has been wired at the top because of the cracks on each side. Crack on one side goes almost to the bottom of crock. This is a Vintage Blue Crown 2 Gallon Stoneware water Cooler Crock With Lid A nd Sp igot. Th is is a cool old crock. I do not know it's exact age. I t looks like the lid may be a replacement but I cannot tell for sure. The spigot is pla stic and the interior of the cr ock and lid are immaculate so your guess as to the age of this is as good as mine. This would make a big hit on your Thanksgiving beverage table or next summer picnic. The exterior of the crock has quite a bit of crazing and also has a yellowi sh discoloration of the glaze. i do not know if it could be cleaned off but I do know it adds to the character of the item. Hand Turned Salt Glaze Red Wing Stoneware Crock with Hand Drawn Leaf
For your consideration is six gallon salt glaze crock that was manufactured in Red Wing. Minnesota during the 1880s or the early 1890s. This crock is hand turned and using the slip cup method, the potter(which was also an artist) drew the 6 and the leaf. This crock is approximately 14 1/2" tall and the bottom is approximately 12" in diameter. This crock has a minor chip, a hairline and is badly stained. The chip is on the left side and closer to the back than it is to the front. The hairline is on the right side, further back than the handle, but closer to the handle than the back; this hairline runs downward for approximately 5" The stains are everywhere. We are listing today for your consideration a lovely Antique 19th Century Stoneware Saltglazed Cobalt Blue Flower Design 2 Gallon Ovoid Crock. This crock is in Excellent Condition with a few spider cracks on the base with 2 going through to the inside. 3 of them extend up the outside bottom of the crock. There are minor shallow chips to the upper rim. Both outside and inside. The crock is 100% structually sound, it rings true when you tap it and holds water no leaks. No other issues at all. The crock measures 12" tall x 10" wide x 8" at the mouth x 6 1/4" at the base and weighs approximately 10lb 10oz. The crock has an incised 2 below the one handle. A lovely large crock with a great ovoid shape and applied handles. It has a heavy and dark cobalt blue flower and leaf design that borders the top half of the crock. This is an Antique Mid 1800's Jas Hamilton Greensboro. PA Stoneware Crock. Brothers James and William"Leet" Hamilton founded their pottery company in 1850 and operated it until 1866 until it was sold to Leet's son and son-in-law. That said, considering the age of this canning crock, it is in amazing condition. There is one pretty good chip out of the inner wax-sealing lip and one very small hairline that runs down the front left just a couple inches. No other cracks, hairlines or otherwise. There are a couple of spots of paint on the back of it as you can see in the pictures and measures 8" tall x 4 1/4" in diameter at the top x 5 1/4" in diameter at the base. This shape is fantastic.
