It is almost 9.5" tall. 5 3/4" acrossed the opening, andabout 7" acoss bottom, I would say this would hold over a gallon, There are no cracks to this crocks sounds great, There is some chipping to the bottom and the underside of the lid, If I am correct these crocks were used for storeing meat, you would fry it and place it in the crock and pour fat drippings over the meat and store in a cool place, you could then pull back some of the fat and get your meat out, then put the fat back on this would keep for a good spell. This is the COOLest Little Thing! Totally guessing here. But feels like a coil pot, not hand thrown. But Not SURE. Inside is Rough in some places, like plaster, smooth on the bottom. Exterior Beautiful Salt GLAZE color with lots of character and tine spider web dark color. Marked on front and back MADE IN CHINA. THis little guy is footed standing only 4" tall. But believe it to be from the early 1900's. The crock is ribbed. It is brown with a cream color splashed over it on the inside and out. It has a matte finish. There is no brand name indicated, but there is a#61 on the bottom as well as the painters marks. Based on the weight, it appears to be American made. There are no exposed areas for us to confirm the clay color, which might have helped narrow down the region and manufacturer. It stands approximately 7" high and has a 3.25" opening. Condition: Used condition. There is one very tiny chip on the rim. Its more than 75 years since the famous Coates cider was first made in the village of Nailsea near Bristol- and a quarter of a century since of a century since production ended. For people living outside the West Country Coates cider meant cartoon yokels announcing in rich Wurzel accents that Coates comes up from Zummerset, where the zider apples grow in a TV commercial. It was an inspired marketing move, especially as the jingle was based on the popular We Come Up from Somerset by the great Portishead songwriter Fred Wetherley Coates did indeed come up from Somerset and it was Redvers Coate, ... morethe company founder who did as much as anyone to move Somerset cider from the fields and into the cities. By the end of the Great War, cider was in decline. In 1887, Parliament had banned the traditional practice of paying farmworkers in cider( two quarts a day) and the growth in French wine drinking was hitting sales hard. Coate, a graduate of Bristol University was looking for a job in 1924, a time when Gloucester, Devon and Herefordshire ciders were being nationally marketed but Somerset products were scarcely known outside the county. He knew little about cider making so worked unpaid for a year at the Long Ashton Cider Research Institute before borrowing enough from family, and friends to open a cider works at Nailsea. He was just 23 years of age. The staff comprised Coate, foreman Charlie Higgins from Williams Cider, Backwell; Cooper Sid Summers, cellar man Jack AlIsop, clerk( and later company secretary) Frank Matthews, Bill Baker and a man called Iles. This stoneware crock measures about 4 1/2 inches high without the lid and about 6 inches high with the lid on. The base and mouth measure about 4 1/2 inches wide. There are two holes on each side where a metal latch had been. I believe it to be an antique crock. The only markings on the bottom are USA and a number stamped on the base: 31381? last of 6th digit is unrecognizable as it appears smeared) It appears to be in very good shape with the only condition issues being on the underside of the lid with a couple minor rough spots. The crock itself is free of cracks. Chips or breaks. Acquired at an auction. It is a very cute piece.

This is a huge 22.5 inch high and 17.5 inch wide crock.This is a large 20 gallon stoneware crock I believe to be Miller Pottery out of Alabama. It is 22.5 inches high and 17.5 inches wide. It does have hairline cracks on lower sides that make it where it does not hold water. None of the cracks are structurally relevant it is very sturdy. I tried to show everything on pictures. Has a shamrock on the front and a 20 for 20 gallons. It is a cream colored beige. Inside is dark brown. I put water in it and after a while if started to leak out of a few hairline cracks on the sides. There may be a hairline crack in the bottom but I can see it on the inside but not the outside. The top opening measures 6" in diameter and 4" inside diameter. I am not sure if the lid is actually meant for the crock. The lid itself has chips/hairline and rust. White paint stains on the body. Just need paint cleaning and polishing to show the original beauty of it. In great vintage condition with hairlines and a chip at the bottom due to its age and use over the years. Antique Cookie Jar - Old Pottery Blue Jar - Vintage Hand Painted Crock BEAUTIFUL
This auction is for an antique crockery cookie jar. It is a beautiful blue color inside and out. It has remnants of hand painted flowers. It is missing it's lid. But is still very usable could be for the pot shelf or could put cooking tools in. There is no damage, no cracks, breaks or chips. It measures 9" tall and 5.75" across at the top. It is a very heavy piece and I am not sure of the age. But it's pretty old, looks to be around the 1930's. Shipping/handling is according to weight and zip code of winning bidder.
