Here is another Rare Advertising Crock. This one is for Budlongs Pickles who was from the Chicago Area. They went out of Business in 1908 from my research. This advertising piece of stoneware has a lovely ivory color with cobalt blue writing. A great bowl to keep keys and your wallet in or use in the kitchen. It is advertising Lambrecht Butter made in New Jersey and has a 12 cent deposit. Has no chips or cracks that were not original flaws in the making. There is a three veined crack at one of the 12 cent deposits area where the blue ink has flowed into. But then again this was done in the making. It holds 1 1/2 cups so it can be used as a measure. Mini Whiskey Advertising Jug 1/2 Gallon New York Liqour House Crock Stoneware
This is one of the neatest Liqour advertising jugs we've put up for sale. It actually has an old four digit phone# on it. And that is very rare. At 8" tall x 5 3/4" this isn't exactly a mini jug, but it is a very nice collectible 1/2 gallon size. The Denver phone service started in 1879. After some research we found that both the Telephone Exchange and The New York Liquor House were on Larimer st. The jug says: The New York Liquor House 2311-13 Larimer Street Telephone 1910- Denver. Colo. The jug is in pretty good shape. No cracks. There is one chip on the upper shoulder. And three chips at the bottom of the jug. All shown in pictures. There are also the usual hand made manufacturing defects that are under the original glaze, blurred and faded stamp, color spots, glaze skips, crazing, debris under glaze, and thats OK because ... morethey show the real age of the jug. This jug comes from a time when the old west days and the Victorian days were mixing together. And they had a telephone. WoW! How cool would it be to call over for a bottle of wine and a guy on a horse delivers it. At the same time when a lot of America didn't even have electricity. Investors this is the real deal. GREAT little stoneware crock with McGeehan Bros. Coaldale. PA stencilled on the front. Condition is excellent with just a few very minor chips or glaze skips and a small stain just above McGeehan. EV-RE DAY OLEOMARGARINE"THE SPREAD THAT BETTERS THE BREAD" Milwaukee Wisconsin.I think it maybe Redwing. blue and white fine and enameled band on the top and bottom of the jar. It is a 2 quart jar. no marking found. Around the lip of the top of the jar are two spider type cracks. Not all the way through and do not effect the sturdiness of the rim. one is about 1" long and about 1/2" Minor for the jar. see photos) The lid is in very good condition. Antique/vintage tan stoneware crock with wire bail lid and"International Paints" logo advertisting. Could be a fairly rare piece. As I don't see any similar ones on ebay. The company has been in business for 35 years or so. Has a chemical or solvent smell to the crock. And I am not sure what it was ever used for. The crock is actually discolored(darker in a large area) And it is possibly due to whatever was in the crock at one time. Color is actually a darker tan than showing in the pictures. Fairly large diameter crock. Measuring approx. 6"H to the top of the lid with a 5-3/8" diameter. Has a small shallow surface chip on the edge of the jar. It is marked U.S.A on the bottom. It comes with the original lid and hardware. It is a larger sized cheese crock measuring approx. 6 3/4" to the top of the bail handle. It is in overall excellent condition with no cracks or hairlines. The only mention being a small nick on the bottom, see last photo. Boston Brand Beans DU1549" I believe this is from the early 1900's and the DU 1549 is the phone number. It has a smooth glaze. It may be made by Red Wing pottery- the bottom is just marked USA, so I can't say for sure. A nice piece, but not in perfect condition. Here we have a beautiful stoneware jug made by Jacob Fisher of Lyons NY. Jugs and Crocks under this stamp were roughly circa.1878-1902. This jug advertises"Fee Bro's" Which is Fee Brothers, in business in Rochester NY since 1863 and still in business today. At the time this crock was made Fee Brothers dealt in wines and liquors and operated near the Genesee River in Rochester. Today they make cocktail mixes,syrups,and concentrates. They have a website if you care to research them. The jug is in very good condition with excellent cobalt blue script.some of the nicest I've seen. There are a few chips here and there the largest of which is shown in pic 5. Pic 4 shows what I believe to be a fold or line made during the potting but it could be a hairline crack.
